Work Text:

"Akaashi..."

The owner of the name sighs for the first time today. He tilts his his book down to gaze at his boyfriend who is currently sprawling his upper half body across the table, books and pens pressed against him like he never wanted them to see the light. The spikes of his hair seemed to droop downwards, a familiar sight for him by now. He pouts, "I'm boooored."

"You've been saying that for the past hour, Bokuto."

"Yeah, but I'm really bored now!"

Akaashi placed his book down on his lap, extending his arm to boop Bokuto's nose. He giggles at the brief touch, leaning forward with a familiar smile already blossoming. "I know you're bored, but this is an important test, isn't it? You should focus on studying."

"Why aren't you studying, then?" He reasons, shooting a suspicious glare at Akaashi. Being accused like that, Akaashi's lips curve upwards to a gentle, yet knowing smile. "I've finished up my homework. And no tests up my schedule so far."

Bokuto groans, pulling at his hair and muttering about something unfair through gritted teeth. But after a short minute of inner battling, he willed himself to grab the pen and book once more. After all, this isn't high school anymore. No one would care if he did his homework or not, or if he studied for the test. Any of his failures could only be held accountable by himself only.

At the sight of Bokuto calming down and choosing to continue to study, Akaashi smiles to himself. He's seen Bokuto through thick and thin by now, and the development of Bokuto's maturity had caught him in a pleasant surprise. He casts his gaze back to his book once more, the only sounds in the room being the pages of books getting flipped and the low hum of Bokuto's ramblings as he memorizes materials and forms acronyms.

Once a while had passed, Akaashi felt his eyes begin to feel sore. His hand reached for his bag on the couch nearby and rummaged through it, pulling out a small box. The sound of something snapping shut caught Bokuto's attention as he looked up from his book, meeting the eyes of Akaashi from behind a pair of glasses.

For a few seconds, Bokuto felt his mind lag. Stopped working, retinas freezing the moment he saw his lover donning a pair of glasses. His silence meant nothing to Akaashi who went back into reading right after putting it on, before Bokuto's mouth finally caught up with his mind.

"Woah!"

Akaashi's eyes flicked over across the table, watching Bokuto's sparkly eyes as he shamelessly stared. His hands were fidgeting on top of his thighs, hidden by the table, but the subtle movements of his shoulders gave it away.

"Do I look weird?" Akaashi tilts his head, and Bokuto felt like his heart was about to burst.

"What? No. No! Not at all!" Akaashi watched as a soft shade of pink tainted Bokuto's cheeks. The man had both hands braced on the table now, leaning forward to take a better look at him. "You look great. Awesome. Amazing. Wow."

"Do I?" His lover asks in that light teasingly tone with a sultry undertone that never fails to squeeze his heart just right. Bokuto wanted to claw his vocal cords out to stop himself from screaming on the top of his lungs, lest he'd get another noise complaint. Instead he opted for overly enthusiastic nods, palms curled into fists that rest upon his thighs and his back straightened up. Akaashi chuckles at the sight. Despite having heard all kinds of laughs come out of Akaashi's mouth, his chuckle is Bokuto's favorite. Just a right amount of happiness and flirt.

Oh, he wanted to kiss Akaashi so bad. He wants to cage him in a hug, watching his glasses fog up as he pulled away. Curse Akaashi and his insane intuition when it came to his lover, because the man leaned back on his seat as he opened his book once more. "Later." Like he knew exactly what was going on through Bokuto's head.

Bokuto knew better than to defy Akaashi when he said something like that. It'd be faster to just get over with it than to negotiate. With a promise from his lover and another sub-chapter to be studied, he focused his will and focus into his books.

Half an hour later, Akaashi hears books shut from across the table. He knew what was coming.

Soon enough, a hand swiftly swipes the book off of his grip, the other pulling Akaashi by the wrist. Bokuto's face came into view, a hopeful look and a pout on his face.

"I finished studying."

"You did?"

"Mhm."

"Good job, Kou."

Bokuto immediately went in for the kill.

A hand of his cups Akaashi's cheek, the other slipping into the palm of his hand and curling his fingers over the gap, in which his lover returned the gesture. Bokuto felt the frame of the glasses poke against his face, but he couldn't care less about it. All he could think of was the feel of Akaashi's lips moving against his, the warmth of his palm, the quietness of his apartment.

"Bokuto," Akaashi gasps between a kiss, "my glasses—"

"Mmmmdontknowhim." Another kiss.

"Kou." Akaashi mumbles between the gap he finally managed between a kiss, and he swears he felt Bokuto smile against him. "They're gonna get crooked."

After a few more lingering kisses, Bokuto finally unlatches his lips. Akaashi planted both his hands on the floor behind him to support himself, cheeks pink and glasses sat crookedly on the bridge of his nose. The glass fogged up, before dissipating along with Akaashi's calming breaths. He used one hand to fix the position, sighing as he did. But Bokuto knew he wasn't exasperated. He could never. And thats what he loves about Akaashi the most. No matter what, he'd never get tired of him.

Bokuto leans in, cupping both of Akaashi's cheeks and leaning his forehead against each other. "You look great. Handsome. It fits you."

Akaashi laughs this time. Bokuto likes it when he laughs lightly like this too. "I was wondering why you were staring earlier."

"Don't lie to me, I know you knew why!"

He laughs again, like music to his ears, and Bokuto couldn't contain himself. He launched himself at his lover, caging him against the floor as he greedily kissed him once more, ignoring the flailing legs and muffled complaints.

Notes:

we've all seen that akaashi image with glasses. currently rewatching haikyuu and i began contemplating, was that image canon or was it an edit? i still don't know. but i would imagine that bokuto either a) has never seen akaashi with glasses, or b) saw it once and never again and just got reminded of how stupidly handsome he looks.

also i haven't read much haikyuu fanfics actually, despite being into it since 2020. though i was mostly on wattpad during its prime. i have no idea if a fic like this existed (most likely) so im sorry if i ended up accidentally copying someone, i genuinely have 0 clue.

this was written on a whim at midnight because i couldnt sleep, apologies for any mistakes or errors. kudos and comments are highly appreciated! <3
