“I didn't mean to do it-” Faye tried to explain. “I didn't know that would happen!”
But Amalia was too busy pressing the cold, wet cloth to the sweltering red patch on her hand, and the adults were surrounding the wounded girl.
“That monster burned my baby girl!” Amalia's mother screeched. “What the hell is she?!”
“Please, don't say a word about this!” Faye's mother begged. “How much money do you want?”

It took a while for them to settle on an amount, but Faye's mother ended up giving away half of her savings to get her daughter out of trouble.
But you still must be wondering how this happened, aren't you?
Well...
Faye eagerly grabbed hold of Amalia's hand. “Hold still. I want to show you something!”
Amalia sighed and went along, letting Faye grasp her hands between the latter’s own. The former started to feel her hand heat up and tensed a bit, but she stayed still to see what was happening.
Amalia's hands started to heat up even more until it started to hurt and she tried to pry her hand away, but Faye didn't seem to notice and only grasped her tighter.
Faye's hands became hotter and hotter until Amalia screamed out in pain and the former finally let go. When Amalia yanked her hand back it was red, sweltering, and the skin was fried.
