God’s very simple and love shouldn’t burn

Summary:

Basically, 'A Fallen Star' but happier...kinda?

Notes:

Decided that 'A Fallen Star' was very cringe so i'm re-writing it at a slower pace so I don't cringe every time I read it! Please know that if you or anyone else you know is struggling with suicide help is always available and in no way am I promoting it or anything else mentioned in here!

Chapter Text

It wasn’t a secret that he and Rui were closer than most people. No matter where they were, the other was always with them. They were like magnets, always stuck together. And yet…How did this happen? It started small, Rui canceling their plans, before he just started ignoring him out right. But no way! Tsukasa was a star! He couldn’t get upset over this right? It would be so selfish of him if he did get upset. Rui and Mizuki are his friends! He should be happy for them! So why? Why did it hurt so much seeing them together?
“—Kasa. Tsukasa-kun!”
“Huh?” Oh. That’s right. He was talking to Rui about his first date with Akiyama.
“Fufu, was Tsukasa zoning out again?” Rui lightly bonked Tsukasa on the head.
“HAHAHA…, no.” Tsukasa stuck his tongue out at Rui, before continuing. “So, you and Akiyama are going on a date today right?” Just saying it made something ugly in his stomach twist. But he couldn’t tell Rui, they were best friends after all! He should be overjoyed!
“We’re going to her favorite arcade,” Rui replied, the words muffled through his food. Tsukasa scrunched his nose in disgust.
“Ew, chew your food before talking.” Rui simply laughed at him, the sound making Tsukasa’s breath hitch ever so slightly…DAMN IT! What's wrong with him? He can’t be in love with someone who’s already taken, and by one of his friends of all! But it’s fine, Tsukasa was fine with acting like everything was fine. Like it wasn’t killing him from the inside every time he saw them. How many lies had he told already just to make his friends happy? Too many to count…but it would all get better soon right? But how far away is soon? How many more painful lies would he have to tell? He felt like vomiting up all his feelings..
“—Kasa? Tsukasa Tenma!?” Tsukasa blinked out of his thoughts, turning to face Rui.
“Tsukasa-kun, are you sure you’re okay?” Rui asked, worried. Why is he worried? He shouldn’t be zoning out, his friend is talking to him! Ignoring him would be so rude…asking him to skip the date would be so rude…wouldn’t it? He shook the thoughts away, faking a smile for him.
“Not to worry, a star is always fine! I’m always at 120%, so don’t worry about me!” Tsukasa topped it all off with a strained smile, but it was just wide enough for Rui not to notice anything.
“Well, that's just what I expect from my future world star~” Tsukasa couldn’t help the slight warmth that appeared on his cheeks. He cleared his throat, before crossing his arms.
“Now come on! Lunch is almost over and I’m not going to be late to class again!”
“Come on Tsukasa-kun! We weren’t that late last timeee” Rui groaned as Tsukasa started dragging him down the stairs of the rooftop.
“WE LITERALLY MISSED HALF THE CLASS??”
“...Well yeah, but Kaori-sensei’s class is borinnggg” Rui complained while Tsukasa sighed and rolled his eyes.
“That’s because you just keep getting in trouble in her class.” He retorted.
“How cold Tsukasa-kun~”
“Rui. I swear if you don’t HURRY UP—” The bell for class tolled, signaling that they were both late to class. Tsukasa groaned as the bell mockingly rang.
“You’re gonna get me kicked off the discipline committee.”
