Non-latex gloved hands, firm yet gentle, traced along the deep wound. She twitched, but he didn’t pull away—still going on in a hushed tone about how she was in good hands. Langdon picked up the syringe and warned her, as he did all his patients, of a small prick and some burning. The girl, probably not even drinking age, just nodded. She hardly made eye contact, and really, Langdon couldn’t blame her. He tilted his head with as kind a smile as he could possibly muster upon his lips.
Suicidal patients weren’t exactly his specialty. But Langdon was at the point in his own recovery that he wasn’t sure what his specialty was anymore....
