The hotel is quiet in the aftermath of it all. Bright, quiet, peaceful… Like time is ticking forward again despite her heavy heart as she floats through an open window, only to be met with an empty sunlit room.
She felt this emptiness back then too.
Now, she wonders if it will remain.
…No.
Fluffing up her petals, she thinks of his smile, just before. His gentle embrace.
It was this, not grief, that he found after three thousand years. And while it’s a fair distance for her to travel, the flowers that line his grave are quite lovely indeed.
