Work Text:
"Loser."
Annie Leonhardt was at the verge of attacking whoever interrupted her alone time.
Except it wasn't exactly an usual 'alone time' scenario. Who in the right mind comes to a party just to sit quietly with headphones on max volume?
But she had to admit, whoever wanted to accost her, must try really hard for Annie to actually hear the insult. It wasn't what mattered though, making them go away was.
So, with all of her fury culminated, Annie opened her eyes, gripped the beer bottle tighter, and took off her headphones, ready to literally fight. At the end of her throat some insult was already ready to be spat out, what stopped her was surprisingly pretty girl who stood over her.
Then a different light caressed the earth and Annie regognised Hitch Dreyse. Really? Out of all of people it must be her...
Annoying, arrogant and disgustingly beautiful girl that Annie met through their mutual friends, Ymir and Historia who are dating. Type of girl who will answer only 10 guys out of 50 begging for her attention in her DMS, (exactly 10 'cuz it's her favourite number) but only because she finds it funny to play with their feelings. Type of girl to be called a slut without shame by jealous or hurt by her people, a literal impossible goal to score by people who have a crush on her, and the best kisser by anyone who experienced it.
With a smile so wide and teasing that it showed all of her teeth, her green braces that matched her observant, big eyes. Pair it with mouth that can phare the most random, disgusting or intimate information about anyone. Add groomed to perfection dirty blonde curls and a body that looks like ones out of ancient sculpture and you probably think you know everything about her already.
Or at least that's what most of their High School thinks.
Nobody knows she has a thing for losers. Especially girls who play in a band, especially on drums, have blonde hair, eyeliner and mascara so messy it looks like she just got fucked by five people at once, with skin so pale it turns purple in places and expression that scares most people away.
Not Hitch though, or maybe she just likes to feel afraid of punk girl that is leaning onto a tree right now.
Annie stayed silent, quite shocked with Hitch finding her here. Party took place by a lake, Annie made sure to walk to the whole different side of it than the meeting was happening.
Hitch squat next to Annie. "Also, alcoholic." She giggled as she noticed Annie's grip on the beer bottle. "Came here only for free alcohol or...?"
"Im Reiner's babysitter tonight." Annie sighed. "He wanted me to make sure he won't get wasted, make it home on normal hour and for him to not clown himself like the last time."
Last time he tried to put an old, random condom on his head. Some stranger's cum dripped on his nose while he was doing that.
"Then you are shit at your job."
"He told me to fuck off after I reminded him two times of the whole sober thing." Annie shrugged. "Imma wait till morning to make sure he gets home perfectly safe."
"Perfectly safe with you and your 'I told you so'."
Hitch sat more comfortably on earth, getting uncomfortably closer to Annie. Stupid Hitch, because when Hitch is so close Annie becomes stupid as well!
Annie doesn't mention a lot of things about her private stuff. Especially that Hitch is a type of girl that is Annie's type.
It was too quiet between them, even for Annie's taste. Except Hitch seemed to not mind that much, her eyes froze at height of Annie's shoulders, maybe watching her defined collarbones, maybe how her breast looked like in this dark top with deep neckline, decorated with black lace.
Annie didn't want to dive in into what this gaze might mean, she'll get too turned on or way too depressed for her own good. So no matter how much she was flattered with a gaze so undressing, she wanted for it to stop.
Nothing stupid, okay?
If her and Hitch are meant to fuck, they better not to do this in a forest with dozens of people their age drunk not so far away. And Annie doubted their sobriety at that moment. If they are meant to fuck, they better remember it all in details, better their minds work best they can.
"Don't you have other people to bother? Or is your social anxiety killing you and you just... Don't know how to make new friends?" Annie teased.
It always weirded people out, that the extraverted Hitch Dreyse always tried to find time and space to talk with Annie Leonhardt.
"Our lovebirds left me." Hitch sighed. Lovebirds were actually the reason they met, as Annie was Ymir's best friend, and Hitch was Historia's. Some sort of double dates appeared in their squad almost every weekend. "And Gabriel wouldn't stop flirting with me. Without Hisu it seemed like he, sadly, grew confident enough to ask me for sex."
"Sadly?"
"Have you seen him?"
"He's not that bad." Annie squinted her eyes. "Okay, no, he is."
Hitch giggled, leaning towards Annie, her green irises flickering between her collarbones, lips and eyes. Annie wanted to scream at her, what message would she say? No idea, Annie just wanted for it to be loud, and groundbreaking, and honest, and...
"I also wanted a little break." Hitch looked away from Annie, blushing, as if she noticed her own odd peeks as well. "Some fresh, chill air and all. Do you know how hot and sweaty it is over there? Absolutely disgusting."
Annie nodded. "And too loud."
"Everything's always too loud for you." Hitch rolled her eyes. "Still have no idea how you even let me approach you."
"You're... Okay."
"Just okay?"
"Yeah, okay loud." Annie cleared her throat. "It's okay to listen to you."
"Okay." Hitch chuckled, turning to face Annie once again. Joining her hands, hugging her knees and leaning her cheek on top. "And your music?"
"What?"
"You often put it to such volume everyone around you can hear it through your headphones."
"Seriously?" Annie blushed, embarrassed.
"Didn't know?"
"I-" Annie stuttered. "Just tell me next time."
Hitch shoot her the most Hitch smile that ever was. It made Annie crave to force these lips to shut even more. With a power of friendship, and a brutal make out session.
"Nah, I like your taste too much." Hitch confessed, and Annie raised her eyebrows. "I know, I know, someone like me would like shit like this? I mean, sure, I adore Madonna, and Britney, and ABBA, but it's not like The Cure, or Sex Pistols, or She Wants revenge is a bad pick."
As if her playlist heard it, 'Tear you apart' began to play. Annie had one headphone still in her ear, other one was dangling on her thighs.
Hitch grabbed the free one as if it was nothing, as if it didn't make Annie almost explode, and put it into her own ear. She tilted her head, giggling once again.
'At the right place and right time, maybe tonight?'
Hitch seemed to ask. Annie panicked. And it wasn't like Hitch knew what she was doing. She didn't have that much experience with girls, sure, she kissed and fingered some, but it was different. It was Annie, and Annie deserved more than a more heated make out session and forgetting about it once dawn comes.
Making out with Annie Leonhardt to She Wants Revenge would be hot as fuck, and definitely a thing Annie would be into. Except Hitch made up her mind on it way too late, another song already played.
Wait, isn't this song a solid four minutes? Or even more? Hitch flinched as she remembered. Fuck, for how long did their eye contact lasted? With nothing but headphones shared between them?
When did it even start? Doesn't matter now, play it off cool, Hitch. She was begging herself. Hitch had a bad habit of proving to everyone why she is the best, the smartest and always right, in front of Annie it seemed to fade into something similar, but also much different.
Hitch just wanted to be cool. Nothing more, nothing less.
She wanted to be cool enough to sit with Annie at bus stop and listen to the same music in total silence. She wanted to attend her band practise and actually do something productive, with the songs they were playing being just a background for her super important task, instead of staring mindlessly at Annie's hands, and Annie's shoulders, and her hair put into a bun and just... Everything.
Worst part was, Hitch never compared herself to something even remotely close to a loser, and there she wasz worrying how this girl will react to every move she makes and how to prevent her from being annoyed.
Something in unknown language reached Hitch's ears, she thought that talking about it is was better than looking at each other throughout the third song.
"Do you understand any of it?"
"I can make out most of the meaning."
"You gotta be shitting me." Hitch tilted her head, knowing that doing so makes her hair fall the perfect way that makes most of people fall to their knees. Annie furrowed her eyebrows. "No, don't get me wrong, it sounds good and all, I just can believe you understand all of this gibberish."
"Gibberish? Please, stop pretending like French doesn't sound like someone is choking on a fat cock." Annie loved to tease Hitch about her nationality. It usually made Hitch curse at her in French, jokingly. It was ridiculous, how hot it sounded to Annie.
"Ha, ha, funniest joke ever!" Hitch answered instead. "But for real now, what does it say?"
"It's a polish song, and..."
"Polish? You know polish?"
"I'm from Russia and Slavic languages are pretty similar so, yeah." Annie explained. "Well, the song's name is spelt 'Tyle słońca w całym mieście' and I think it's just a song about sunny town with happy people in it."
"Sounds... Very not like you. And very not Slavic."
"Oh right, all Slavs must be miserable."
"Well, you're the only one I know so the stereotype is proven correct."
"Ha, ha, funniest joke ever!" Annie mimicked.
They smiled at each other. While also finally stopping to pretend that their eyes can be stuck in one another only. Moonlight shone the perfect way to make the scenery by the lake even more beautiful.
"My dad listened to it a lot, when I was little." Annie said out of nowhere, and Hitch's heart began to feel warmer at the thought of Annie finally opening up. "Guess you can never really escape from your parents's influence."
A bit of sadness appeared in her tone, to drown it, she took another sip of her beer. Regret already filling her as she realised what she had just said. Hitch noticed it, but more importantly, ignored for both of their comfort. Whatever Annie has going on with her dad, Hitch wanted to make sure that Annie will forget about it with her.
So, after not even a moment passed from Annie swallowing the liquid, Hitch did the first thing that came to her mind, or maybe the second, she took the bottle from Annie. Except as she reached it, her and Annie's hands interlinked, they both froze.
Contrast of temperature between their hands was surprising, Annie was warm, Hitch cold. Considering their personalities, it would feel more right for it to be switched. Considering how adorable it would be if Annie warmed up Hitch's hands by holding them, Hitch didn't care about anything else.
Then it grew awkward. Hitch, with the bottle, of course, backed off, taking a sip to calm down her insides, with heart being her top priority. Annie watched movements of Hitch's throat a bit mto carefully.
"I hate it here." Annie confessed, out of nowhere.
"I know parties not your thing but..."
"Not the party, the city. The whole city should go to hell." Annie continued. "First thing when I save up some money is escape farthest I can."
"Sounds rebellious." Sounds like you. "I like it. Any specific place in mind?"
"No, not yet." Annie sighed. "I want to go from one city to another, explore most of the country, or even other ones? Who knows. Before I decide where I want to live."
"Didn't know you'd be so picky."
"I want for it to be perfect or for it to not be at all."
"It?"
"My future." Annie had no idea since when does she like to share so much about herself. Maybe it was the beer, maybe it was her crush at Hitch, maybe it was stars aligning the right way, maybe a mention of her father.
'Perfect Girl' by The Cure began to play.
"Why don't you start now?" Hitch asked.
"What?"
"Travelling from one city to another." Hitch explained. "You could just hop in into random train to a random city, explore for a day or two and come back here. Would save you a lot of time, and money, you would just use your dad's one."
"Sounds... Cool. Very cool."
Hitch couldn't help but giggle at the compliment, it was exactly what she craved to hear from Annie.
"Want to join me?"
"What?" Now, Hitch was not only blushing but also frozen.
"Go to a random city with me." Annie tilted her head. "We would turn off our phones, not inform anyone where we are, completely gone and free from school, parents, anything that is bothering us. Sounds intriguing?"
"Very." Hitch tried hard not to stutter. How is her dream coming true so easily? Is Annie truly asking her out? Maybe not on a date, but just them, hanging out, without anyone else to disturb them... "I would love to." Hitch's heart was so loud she was scared it silenced out what Annie was really saying. "Just me? Really? All these people you know and wanting to escape from here, being alone and you are choosing me?"
"You make this shithole sufferable." Annie responded, without realising the meaning behind her words. "I mean, not only you, it's just..."
"No, no, don't worry, I get it."
As no matter how safe she feels around Historia, or Marlowe, or Ymir, or any other friend they have cannot compare to Annie. Can't give her what Annie might give and gives. Butterflies in her stomach, shared headphones and the special intimacy that comes with it, little teases, unpredictability, things in the air that she cannot grip, her pupils growing larger and... Everything connected to Annie.
'Swinging Party' reached their ears, as Hitch listened to the lyrics, she chuckled.
"Swinging party? Is it the only one you would be willing to attend to?"
"Wouldn't it be much funnier if all of them were hanging down these trees like pinatas?" Annie answered with a question.
"Only if we would be running around them and hitting them like ones." Hitch leaned towards Annie, their noses were almost touching, she didn't think what she was doing. Neither of them were.
Calm melody, odd situation that the lyrics were presenting, lovely vocals, and a lot more qualities of this song, matched with the cold air, their bodies close and the surrounding forest, the lake created a perfect atmosphere. For what? Hitch had a perfect idea.
"At dawn we would hang ourselves as well, to not face any consequences." Annie promised, as if the scenario was ever possible to happen.
"Next to each other?" Hitch teased, their noses already touching, their breathe shared.
Vocals got louder, it sounded like a incentive for further actions to them both.
'If being afraid is a crime
We hang side by side
At the swingin' party down the line.'
They were afraid to take any action towards one another for way too long.
Annie was the one to smash their lips. The impact made their headphones fall out of their ears. She guessed the kiss was a better, more romantic answer than anything else.
Hitch had to agree. She pulled back for a second, just to spread her legs over Annie's thighs, making them more comfortable. As she reconnected their lips, it felt better than anything she could ever imagine.
It wasn't soft, it was messy. It was spit running down their chins after few moves, hands tangled in hair or going down to grip shoulders, waist, truly anything that came in a way. With a giggle, chuckle, groan, heavy breath interrupting the contact from time to time.
Both of them couldn't get enough of each other, so as Hitch but Annie's lips while also pushing her hips towards her stomach, Annie couldn't oppose any of that. She opened her lips wide, inviting Hitch's tongue for a very long trip inside.
Hitch's tongue was skilled, precise, it was everywhere it needed to be... For now. Adding the movements of her whole body, placements of hands, her weight crushing and pinning Annie to the ground.
Teeth against teeth, tongue against tongue and lips against lips. Hair getting slightly pulled, few seconds breaks to catch air, wide smiles and hearts racing.
Hitch backed down with a gasp and a smirk, fingers who found themselves in Annie's blonde curls pulled her head back, Hitch's lips came back to Annie immediately. Except now it was caressing her throat, sloppy and wet kisses everywhere.
For a moment too long, she got carried away. Annie's groan and body growing stiff was what woke her up.
Her hands and mouth disattached from Annie's body in less than a second. As she stared at the area she was just on, she blushed out of embarrassment.
How the fuck could Hitch Dreyse loose herself so much to make Annie a hickey like a pathetic, lovesick and clingy teenage girl she was?
"Fuck." Annie said, sounding pleased, out of breath.
"Fuck." Hitch repeated, except she was more frightened, awkwardness mixed with awareness slowly choking her. Why couldn't Annie hands do it instead?
The red spot couldn't stop looking into Hitch's soul, even though Annie didn't seem that mad over it, Hitch still hate herself for doing it. How would Annie show herself to her father with a big fucking hickey on her neck? How would she go to school?
Questions would get asked, rumours would get started. Hitch knew exactly what type of things people could tell about it, knew how much Annie would feel uncomfortable. How odd it'll be for both of them knowing who did it. How sad it is that both of them are so not ready for any of it, yet they couldn't get more prepared.
Hitch was in a few relationships in her life, but she never really was the one who ever asked the other one out. She always waited, flirted her way into a date or a boyfriend. Now it seemed different, Annie is so quiet, so mysterious, would she have enough of guts to ask the fundamental question?
It's not like Annie is not confident, the placement of her hands seemed to have enough of courage as they were slowly sliding beneath Hitch shirt, caressing the bare skin of her waist. But would Annie find her way with words? Around Hitch who always carried their conversation and did most of the speaking?
Hitch hated how stressed she becomes around this stupid girl.
She hated how it was supposed to be Annie to be flustered and a mess and a shy girl waiting to get asked out.
But not really though, because Annie's confidence made all of her flesh burn from inside out.
Annie moved a strand of hair out of Hitch's face. "Free this Monday?"
"We have school..."
"Where's that rebellious spark inside of you?"
Monday was ideal, they could make up everything and groom it to perfection, specific what they were and go on a first actual date without a need to go to school, face too many different people. They would make it special, just for them and their eyes to see.
Hitch genuinely hated how much she cared about what other people think. She decided to ignore it for a moment, submit to whatever Annie was offering. "Right." She giggled, rolling her eyes. "Freer than ever."
"Perfect." Annie nodded, still slightly out of breath. "Meet me at the train station around 6."
"In the morning?"
"Of course not, I want for you to enjoy it and you are not exactly a morning bird." Annie kept playing with Hitch's hair-the exact reason why Hitch seemed to not understand what was happening around her. "So? You in?"
"Yeah." Hitch sighed, but it felt to her as if such a simple answer was not enough for the occasion. I-"
They heard someone approaching, so they quickly got out of one another and pretended like nothing happened. It was Ymir.
"What do you want? Historia didn't finger you well enough and came for round two?" Annie bickered in her usual tone, ain't a single thing was left from a girl she was a minute ago.
"Says the one who didn't get any finger inside of her in a long, long time." Ymir sat beside them, her eyes flickered from one to another.
"Where's my girl?" Hitch asked, looking for Historia. She adored calling her that, she adored even more to call Ymir Historia's side hoe. But at that moment, she realised that there may be a woman which she would adore to call this without any irony.
"Her dad called." Ymir explained shortly, every person there knew what it meant. Historia had to take care of herself fastest she can and go back home before her dad becomes pissed enough to cause another argument. Annie was quite familiar with this topic, except her dad never called, almost never had he actual reasons to scream at her. "And what have you been doing to my girl?"
"Talking." Hitch answered, acting as if Ymir probably see Hitch over Annie, acting as if she's offended by any dirty assumptions.
"Yeah." Ymir nodded, presence of sarcasm spreading all around her. "Definitely." She sighed as silence began to crash them. "Okay, I'll leave you all alone, go on and make this hickey properly, she deserves it."
She patted Hitch's shoulder and stood up, doing what she announced. Girls locked eye contact, a silent question appearing between them.
Shall we continue?
Except now they were too afraid of another Ymir being somewhere out here, someone that will interrupt their time together. So instead they decided to make sure.
"So..." Hitch began. "Monday?"
