You gave me more than I could ask for

Summary:

As it looked down at it, Blue saw the hand's pale, white, porcelain covered with the thin fabric of a white glove. The fabric slid on the smooth surface as Miodowa traced subtle shapes into it.

"Would you like to ask me any more questions?" She squeezed the cold hand with tenderness and affection that Blue found odd, and at the same time, yearned for more of it.

It fell silent for a second, staring at their hands. It felt the warmth radiating off of Miodowa's hand, and involuntarily, it squeezed back her hand.

"Why is your hand so warm, and mine so cold?" It finally spoke, lifting its gaze back up to Miodowa's warm eyes gazing upon her from above.

"Because you are a doll," she replied calmly, chuckling lightly. "Your skin is not like mine, it is just porcelain. You are not able to produce warmth, sadly."

Blue hummed quietly, its gaze once more falling down to its hand.

Work Text:

It opens its eyes slowly, the light not blinding them, as they are unable to experience such a thing.

They look around slowly, taking in the small room - a workshop of some kind crowded with many small and large metallic constructions, some light-yellow liquid spilled on the floor, the light it was reflecting, now they learned, was the one which would've blinded them earlier if such thing was to be possible.

They finally looked straight in front of them at the softly-smiling woman whose tired eyes looked deep into it.

"Hey there," she spoke, her voice low, a low murmur, as if the woman spent so much time on it already that she simply did not have the energy to speak louder. "You are Blue. It's nice to meet you."

The woman was tall, slightly taller than it. It could see the distinct scar on her face: the large burnmark taking her whole left cheek, reaching her ear and making it slightly crooked and wrong. It finished just under her eye, one of the two chestnut ones, but did stretch down, some reaching her neck. It could see that the scar did so, but only partially - the woman wore an orange turtleneck which nicely covered most of her neck. The long sleeves hid her arms where it could guess some other burn marks could be.

The burn mark though did not affect the woman's hair - light blonde, either in this light, or normally, with a slightly pinkish hue. What's more, she had made them into two twin, messy buns sitting on top of her head, though that hairstyle was messy to the point of the woman still having loose strands of hair falling over her face.

It blinked twice, and as it finished watching the woman, it tilted its head slightly to the side with a small, mechanical writh to it.

"Hello," it spoke with a voice calm, empty just like it's insides, the faint buzzing accompanying it. "And you are?"

"Miodowa, the one that had made you," the woman spoke with a patient tone, and Blue could hear the excitement she hid well under it. "But you can call me 'mom', okay?"

"Okay, mom." Blue nodded lightly, blinking twice again, still in the process of testing how everything worked.

Upon hearing the term, Miodowa beamed, not containing the excitement and joy anymore which she took from... something for sure, and gently took one of Blue's hands into hers.

Miodowa held her hand as they sat there in silence, Blue's gaze not leaving their intertwined fingers as it just stared. At one point, its legs began dangling slightly back and forth like a small kid's, at which Blue heard Miodowa let out a quiet hum, almost a laugh somewhere deep in it, perhaps its first form.

"Come on, you gotta learn how to walk now." Miodowa urged, breaking the silence and stillness by lightly tugging at Blue's hand. "I'll walk you to your room."

At that, it just nodded, without any hesitation allowing Miodowa to pull it on its legs and step by step, lead out of the room, ensuring that it does not fall over while attempting to move forward.

Blue sat idly, watching as its mom cut vegetables, the knife thumping rhythmically against the wooden board as she made sure to do so evenly and neatly.

The kitchen was nice. It really liked it. Alongside the workshop and its room, it was one of the few rooms it'd been led to.

The space was very little: what fit in there, was an old cooker, a fridge, a countertop which at the same time served as a table with two platform chairs: one on each side, though Blue had noticed a subtle detail. There, on the floor made out of the black tiles... next to each chair, specifically the white out of two types of tiles, seemed to appear something almost like... scratch marks, most of which formed sort of a circle.

That was a subtle fact which Blue noticed some time ago, and wondered if once more chairs sat next to the ones there... and it wondered why they were there no more. And yet, it chose to not speak its mind out loud, instead, lifted its gaze from them to her mom.

"What are you making?" It spoke up, playing with one of the light blue strands of its long-ish hair between its fingers. The other hand served it as support to rest its head on, her cheek would by now be reddish if it only had any skin that could do so.

"Just a stew for the dinner," the woman muttered, not looking away from the cutting board, focused on not lowering her knife onto any of her fingers holding the vegetable. "Something to eat later, and if I make enough, I might even be able to save some of it for tomorrow. Good, since I would not want to be forced to leave and get groceries in the town."

The rhythmic sound of cutting still filled the entire kitchen as the blonde went on, focused on the task at hand.

"Can I try some once you finish making it?" Blue asked politely, still playing with its hair. As it did so, the fingers made subtle buzz upon being shifted, even by a mere inch.

Miodowa halted at the question, the knife hanging midair as the light, calm smile on her face faltered and shifted into a subtle frown. The silence which overtook the small room seemed even louder with the two of them being the only ones in their small house.

"Not really, that's gonna be just for me," she chuckled lightly, Blue noticed the light smile returning to her features. "Though maybe someday, I can grab one of my old cooking books and you pick something we could cook together?"

"Okay," Blue nodded, the quiet buzz accompanying the gesture. "I'll wait then."

"Very well," Miodowa came back to cutting, as if doing it purely to break the silence which fell between the two of them. "I'll try to find the book in the evening, would that be alright?"

Blue didn't answer straight-forward at that, simply made a quiet hum, and came back to playing with her hair, leaning on the table once more as the questions flooded her mind.

-

Blue quietly walked through the corridor. It surely would have been completely silent, if not the buzzing which would not leave it, nor any steps which it took, no matter how careful they were.

Eventually, it reached the end of the corridor, and there, it spotted three things: first, a door on the left side. It seemed odd, the handle slightly crooked. On the top of it, it spotted something scratched into the wood. On the opposite side of the tight corridor stood a twin door, as well as the first one with something thoroughly scratched out of the wood, and finally... a painting.

Or at least what would've been it.

A small, wooden counter which for Blue seemed to be falling apart on itself, and above it hung a frame turned the other way around, showing the wood on its back.

It stood there, curious, sometimes shifting slightly and making a quiet buzz with its movements.

Eventually, curiosity won over, and it reached forward, fingers skimming against the cold, old, wooden frame in an attempt to shift it, and peek under it to see what picture it might've been.

Just as it caught a glimpse of four silhouettes in the picture, two taller ones, and two slightly shorter, a hand grabbed its shoulder and pulled it back, making it let go off the painting, and making it fall to the ground with a thud.

As it turned its head to the side, its eyes locked with its mom's, which were wide, full of fear this time. That was not something Blue had seen so far, since all it saw was either happiness, excitement, affection and only once something unknown to it.

"Blue," her voice was slightly shaky as the corner twitched from a familiar smile into something else entirely, and her hands gripped its shoulders tighter. "Why did you come here? Please, could you stay away from this corridor? I thought the sofa I've put in the way was enough to make it clear I would prefer you to stay away from here."

Blue didn't answer, it's mouth slightly opened, yet no sound left it as it simply stared blankly at Miodowa, a pair of empty, glass orbs filled with yellow liquid slightly illuminating faint shimmer locked on the woman's worried gaze.

"I'm sorry," it said quietly at last, lowering its head to not be forced to look into its mother's eyes anymore as shame took over it.

Blue felt how the woman's eyes were piercing it, not drifting away from it even for a second as the grip on its shoulders got even tighter. Only after a while, it disappeared, and Miodowa sighed quietly.

"Come on," she extended her gloved hand to Blue's own one. "Let's just go to your room, okay? Don't waste time over here."

At that, Blue simply silently took her hand, and allowed the woman to lead her away from the picture which was still laying on the floor, the side which did have a picture sitting under the wood, hidden from Blue's curious gaze.

After they left the corridor, it obediently watched as the woman moved with a bit of effort, but successfully, a counter, blocking off the tight, small corridor, one of many in the house.

"This," She turned to Blue, patting the piece of furniture, "is here for a reason. Okay?"

Blue nodded slightly, her eyes darting to the floor as guilt went weighting down onto her heavily.

And yet... curiosity stayed.

After all, from what she'd noticed when entering for the first time to her own room, was the fact that at the top of those blue, wooden doors leading into it had a carefully carved word 'Blue'.

-

Blue sat still, perfectly so, not flinching even an inch as its mother tugged at its blue hair, attempting to braid it neatly into twin braids.

She already had finished one of them, having tied a small, black ribbon at the end of it, and was in the process of making the other one, the ribbon waiting to be tied, sitting on the bed next to them.

Blue was sitting on its bed, white covers and mattress bending under its weight.  The room itself it had currently been sat in was pretty much blank, just... empty. Not much to be said about it.

The walls were painted white, surely awaiting Blue's decision as to what color they should be painted. The floorboards always creaked when Blue walked around the room, though she wasn't sure. After all, it was the fifth time she'd been in the room in her whole existence.

"Are the black ones alright?" Its mother suddenly spoke up, and Blue was snapped out of its thoughts, its eyes coming back to Miodowa, locking with hers as always when it tried to focus on the woman's words.

Only after a second, it understood she meant the ribbonbons tied at the ends of her little braids. Upon that, Blue nodded lightly, and the woman came back to making sure they wouldn't untie themselves.

They sat just like that - in silence, only some noises outside which included birds chirping and the wind making the foliage sway lazily accompanied them. Still, it felt... almost nice.

"Blue? How would you describe your feelings at the moment?" Miodowa spoke up, her fingers smoothing out its dress.

Blue fell silent, and tilted its head just slightly to the side with that quiet buzz. The lack of answer stretched on for a while as it searched for the answer in what it would call 'thoughts', as even if it was not capable of such, what mimicked human's mind was filled with something it needed any name for. And so... thoughts felt appropriate. Or at least 'the thing mimicking human thoughts'.

Because that was what it was. Just a mimic of humans. Only a mimic, not an actual living, breathing person. Just a mimic, just a-

"Blue... you are overheating again. What's the matter?" Miodowa's voice cut through the silence, and Blue jumped slightly at the unannounced interruption. Soon, it also registered a hand resting on its cheek, thumb gently brushing against it as if in a soothing motion meant to help.

"It's nothing, sorry for worrying." Blue reassured instantly, trying to focus on the woman's words, but its system struggled to do so without looking at her face... which at the moment, would feel very... uncomfortable for her. Yeah. That's the word.

"Are you sure? If it's an error, please, tell me so I can fix it before it grows to be a major one, you know. I wouldn't want you suffering-"

"It is fine, no, no." It cut her once more, shaking head. "I am okay."

It felt Miodowa's eyes digging into her, the gaze unwavering, yet Blue didn't look up even for a second. Suddenly, doing so felt almost... out of place. As if it shouldn't even dare to do so.

The woman finally sighed, Blue caught a glimpse of her shoulders falling, and soon, pair of arms wrapped around it, and it was pulled against the woman's strikingly warm embrace against Blue's cold body.

"I love you. Okay?" She whispered quietly, placing a soft kiss against its scalp. "Don't forget about it."

She pulled away, and stood up, looking down at it, as its eyes finally, once more, met hers. After a second of the silence between them, Blue parted its lips, hesitantly, and spoke up quietly.

"...mom..." it started, her eyes locked on hers. "I am not real."

It... wasn't a question, it was a statement. A statement which quite frankly was oblivious. Nothing could change that, and both of them were aware of it.

That is exactly why Miodowa's gaze darkened, her smile twitched, as if she tried to stop herself from frowning.

"Please, could you consider yourself a child anyway?" She requested, trying to hide the displeased tone in her voice. "I can trigger in you the use of pronouns 'she/her', if, as I am guessing, your mind has been referring to itself as an 'it'."

"But I... I am a what. I am not a who." Blue mumbled under her breath. Miodowa either did not hear it, or chose to not answer and start an argument with it.

"The dinner will be around 1 o'clock. You can stay here and play with some toys for now, I have to go out of town to visit someone. Behave, okay?"

Miodowa smiled fondly, ruffling her hair, and walking away, towards the door. Only after she reached it and her hand went towards the handle, she stopped, hand mid-air.

"I'll be back in 2 hours. If I won't be, lie down, and wait for me to come back so I can charge you. Don't try to do it yourself, you might break." The blonde turned to it, her gaze now slightly more colder, as if not eager to remind herself Blue is in fact - a machine. "And do not go into that corridor you went into few days ago. It's closed off by the old counter for a reason."

Only after those words did the woman leave, Blue now sitting once more in the quiet, warm, yet unfamiliar room.

-

"How was your day?" Miodowa asked Blue, taking another form of the scrambled eggs sitting on her plate.

Blue looked up from her own plate of those which she'd been playing with for the last couple of minutes as they sat at the counter. At this point, the entire small, white plate had been covered in the yellow-ish residue the meal left where it was, and the girl was attempting to make a small face with them.

"Good." The woman acknowledged, humming quietly as she grabbed the mug and took a sip out of it. Surely, tea had to be in it, as from what Blue found out so far, she did love drinking it. Sage specifically, with honey. Huh.

Blue once more came back to her plate and played with the eggs.

The silence came back, the sound of Miodowa eating being the only one in the quiet, small kitchen.

Blue didn't like it. The fact that each time they talked, so often silence would fall between them and sence of awkwardness sipped in. At the same it... it felt peaceful, cozy like this. Just the two of them, spending time together, in silence.

"I'll have to leave for the entire day tomorow." Miodowa suddenly mentioned as she put her fork down. "I'm sorry I'l have to leave you alone once more. I wish I didn't have to deal with all that fuss regarding my firm..."

Blue shrugged, and nodded at her statement.

"Don't apologize, you cannot influence when there's an issue in one of the factories, can you?" She reminded the woman, not really mad because of such a thing. "I'm not mad at you because of such things, only sad that I'l have to stay here alone again, okay?"

Miodowa's mouth twisted into a frown, her eyes filling with pity as Blue glanced at her.

"But I feel guilty whenever I have to leave for so long... we can't spend a lot of time together." The woman sighed deeply, standing up and collecting her plate to wash it. "And it just doesn't feel right."

"As I said, it is not your fault," Blue continued her previous thought. "And I'm sure it's not going to be like this all the time, right?"

Her hopeful tone made Miodowa chuckle, and smile fondly towards the blue-haired girl. She rolled her eyes fondly and went around the counter to wash the plate.

As the sound of water running from the faucet echoed in the small room, Blue's eyes fell to the scrambled eggs.

Her mother said she likes making them, since that's one of the few things she can cook.

And thus, Blue wondered... were they as tasty as she stated? After all- all she knew was that Miodowa liked them, so... trying wouldn't hurt.

She lifted her fork up, and took a forkfull, first lifting it to its eyes.

Yellow mass, some white between it, jiggly... so weird. She moved the bit to her lips, opened to take a-

Before Blue managed to put the food in her mouth, a hand shot out and grabbed her wrist, firm grip stopping her from inching the hand any closer.

"Do not eat it," Miodowa hissed, her tone cold and demanding in a way Blue had not heard it shift into ever. "You cannot eat the same food as me, Blue. You'll break yourself, and I'll have to clean you which will take hours upon hours."

Blue froze because of that, surprise washing over the cold gaze from those chestnut orbs staring deep into hers.

"...sorry." she blurted out quietly, her eyes widening in worry.

The rest of the meal was spent in silence.

Of course it was.

Because Blue did not want to know how Miodowa would act upon being triggered because of Blue's stupidity.

-

Being alone in the house made Blue so curious.

Whenever she was left alone in the house due to her mother having to leave due to something from her jon, such as checking on some factory in a different town, Blue would wander. As she would do so, she'd look for anything interesting.

Sometimes, she'd discover a book and end up reading it all in one go. Or she would find some interesting object she knew nothing about, and would play with it.

Yet one rule stayed: she would not enter the two rooms at the end of the blocked-off corridor.

She didn't want to disobey her mother. She didn't want to make her mad. After all, her job surely did that a lot, since after some calls she claimed to be getting due to her firm left her so annoyed, frustrated, sometimes mad...

But Blue knew she'd be gone for a few hours more than usual.

What if... what if she just took a peek. She wouldn't even enter, she'd just take a glance inside!

Yes, that was a great plan, wasn't it?

Yes.

And thus, the girl first took her time to push the piece of furniture blocking her path away, even if that did take her a bit. Everything for the thrill of a new discovery.

Soon, Blue stepped into that tight corridor with a picture which fell onto the floor still laying there, and twi doors on both sides of it.

First, bothered by the frame laying on the floor like a cheap tissue which did not land in the trash can, Blue approached it to hang it back up.

As she took it into her hands, quickly her mind focused on what she saw in the photograph.

A woman. Tall. Short, blonde hair. Smiling, wearing a neat, green sweater, dark, long and slim skirt matching it and a golden necklace.

Miodowa? Perhaps, yet happier. There was none of that rough edge to her, lack of the scar she bore at the time Blue first saw her.

Next to Miodowa, stood another woman. Shorter than her by a lot, but also blonde. Her hair was longer, but still not reaching over her shoulders. She was also smiling, that one brighter and more jolly than Miodowa's. She wore a white dress shirt, dark green vest and kept her hand on another person's shoulder.

That one was short. A boy, was it? Short, tan complexion, brown hair, very messy. A purple blouse, hands shoved into the pockets even for the picture. Next to him, a short girl.

Pale skin, almost like the shorter woman's. Surely tall for her age, taller than the boy who seemed to be older. Her hair was a dark shade between brown and some sort of red, perhaps. Long, some falling over her face. She had glasses with green frames, and wore a white dress with short sleeves and some light green accents that nicely matched her glasses.

They looked... happy. Like a family.

But didn't Miodowa swear she has no other family other than Blue?

Not an important one, there is no time to waste. After all, Blue wasn't sure when exactly Miodowa might come back, or how long inspecting the rooms might take. She had to move on, and so, after hanging the frame, she turned to the purple doors.

As she reached for the handle, it was cold to touch. Cold, and rusted. Opening the door by using it was a challenge to the girl, as it turned out the doors was stuck. Once it was opened though, Blue did not wait to enter the room.

It wasn't that large. In fact, the walls were blank, white, which made the room seem to be twice as large as it actually was.

There was no interesting stuff in there. At least not to Blue: a bed, bare, only a mattress laying on the wooden frame of it, a rug, purple with some patterns on it. Then, against the left wall was a closet, wide open and empty. Not a single piece of clothing in sight. Next to the closet stood a desk. It was of a nice quality, made out of dark wood. There was not that much on it, and yet, that was the only thing which had something interesting laying on it: a small piece of ripped paper.

It got Blue's attention quickly, since the rest of the room seemed to be unused for a while now, and suddenly finding something was unexpected.

She approached the desk, and grabbed the small piece of paper.

'Dear Pamela Monet.

Love, I am deeply sorry, but with what had happened recently, it's hard for me to keep pretending like I am okay with being next to you. That's why I have to-'

After that, the paper was ripped, the second part nowhere to be seen. The part laying on the desk wasn't intact as well: the paper seemed mauled, some bits of it not ripped off, but being very close to it.

Blue's curiosity rose after finding the letter.

Who wrote it? To whom? What did that person do to deserve the abandonment, as the letter suggested.

More questions than the answers.

Even though Blue knew the room was empty, she decided to search it carefully one more time, just to be sure... and found nothing, as expected.

And came the time for the door on the other side.

As the girl entered, this time, she discovered a room full of life.

At least surely once.

The colorful carpet laid on the floor, a wooden bed with covers on it that had nice floral patterns stood to the left. In the middle - a closet, and next to it, a desk. The layout was almost identical to the previous room, but here, the furniture seemed a bit smaller. On the desk laid a lot of colored pencils too, and some paper

As Blue decided to approach itz her eyes darted to the closet again. It was slightly ajar, and inside her eyes caught some white fabric.

Curiosity won over the girl and she decided to approach it and see for herself what hid inside... and it turned out to be a white dress, short sleeves and green patterns on it.

As her fingers ghosted the silk fabric of it, an urge to put it on rose in Blue.

After all, Miodowa would come back in a but, not that soon... so she would have time to try it on, right? She'd put it back in the closet before her mother would be back, surely...

And so, the girl pulled the dress out of the closet and got to changing.

In her opinion, it was almost as if the dress was made for her, just like her usual white one: the proportions were identical, and it reached just below her knees as well. It didn't make her uncomfortable or anything, and at the same time wasn't loose at all. Just... perfect.

Blue smiled to herself, and made a small spin. The dress twirled, and she almost giggled out of childish amusement and giddyness. Then, she did it once more, this time almost tripping, and laughing slightly at her clumsiness.

Thus continued, Blue almost dancing around, the little girl in her having so much fun from simply spinning around over and over again.

She didn't notice when her black ribbons untied themselves, fell out of her hair causing the braids to be ruined, braids no more.

She didn't care - Blue was having too much fun to bother with such things...

Or to check the time.

That's how before she knew it, she heard steps in the corridor, and stilled.

Miodowa was back.

And she noticed the moved wardrobe.

And was surely coming.

Blue, panicking, knew there was no time to dress back into her clothes, and so, she frantically started looking for a place to hide from her.

Under the desk? No, she'd still be visible.

Under the bed? No, don't people check it first?

Inside of the closet? Maybe the best option: she could hide behind all the clothes hanging inside of it-

"There you are."

Blue froze as if struck, everything else going quiet as the voice of her mother reached her.

Silence overcame them, the girl slowly spinning around to face the woman.

Her gaze was nothing like the usual.

She didn't seem mad, no. That was not it. Of course, she neither seemed happy, nor was there any warmth in her eyes.

She was smiling, but it would not reach her eyes. The eyes that were wide open, the eyes that seemed scared.

But why?

"Oh sweetie, here you are..." the woman laughed weakly, approaching her warrily. "Sorry for being gone for so long, I just went to visit you mother and rother..."

Her... what? Since when did Blue have a sibling? Another mother? Miodowa never mentioned either, did she?

She opened her mouth to speak, confused by the behaviour of her mother, but went silent as Miodowa proceeded to... grab her by the hair, and pull forward towards herself.

"You." Her voice became shaky, at the verge of a laugh. It was clear she was holding back one, but alongside this gesture it was nothing but a mockery of actual comforting amusement. "It's- it's all your fault. You know what you have done?"

Blue eyes widen, she looked up at the woman. The pulling didn't hurt her, obviously - she was just a machine. So... such a thing could be felt by a machine.

"I'm... sorry?" That sounded almost like a question, but Blue didn't really care. Actually, if she could get some answers, that would be more than appreciated.

Instead of such, she sadly only got a laugh out of Miodowa. The woman lowered her head, laughing quietly, as if giggling... it was not the one Blue was used to, this one seemed... off. Hiding something deep in it, something not to mess with.

And then-

"AS YOU SHOULD BE YOU PIECE OF-"

Blue didn't register the last part, as her head hit the floor and something spilled from it, she felt it. Warm, yellow-ish liquid slowly forming a puddle on the floor behind her.

Miodowa kept laughing, and Blue registered what it meant - she was angry, not happy, and for some reason this was the way she dealt with it.

Not really a normal o-

"If you would just fucking listen to me for once," the woman continued, kneeleing next to Blue, lifting her head up bu the hair. She was smiling no more, her face serious, eyes dark with something close to... hatred. "If you would just do that. If you moved away from the fucking generator- they wouldn't leave-!"

She stood up, and began dragging Blue somewhere by the hair. Of course, it didn't hurt - it could feel pain.

It was just a machine, after all.

"I would have to pay anything," the woman kept muttering to herself. "I would still have two children running around the house. I would have a wife. Everything would've been perfect."

They stopped as Miodowa reached the workshop, and Blue was thrown against one of its walls, the liquid spilling over the surface back of its head had hit.

"I loved you so much," the woman's voice now broke, her breath hitching. If you would've just listened! You would be alive! Everything would be fine!" She cried out loud, leaning on the desk in front of her shoulder stiff as she shook- was she crying? "But no. Of course you couldn't. You disobeyed so much- 'she's just a child, Miodku, of course she just wants to have fun!'. Mhm. And the next thing you know, the brat approaches a reactor and blog it up because of it's stupid mother not giving a shit FOR THE MOST OF IT-"

Before Blue realized what's happening, Miodowa swung at it, and one of its eyes stopped working. The yellow-ish liquid flooded it, and all that was there to see was that very thing.

The other one darted towards Miodowa.

The smile on her face.

The wide eyes.

The tensed up posture.

The heavy hammer she held in her hand.

"It's all your fault, Cztery." She whispered quietly, letting out a small, involuntary chuckle.

The stains from the liquid on her clothes now seemed more prominent.

The unkept hair seemed even more so.

She seemed so much more tired. Unstable.

And she swung again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

And again

And again.

And again.

And again.

And aga-

"Pamela, I-" A tired voice reached Blue, sadly everything it could hear was now distorted. "I'm sorry for how I treated you when you came over, I know it all seemed-"

Everything went silent. Blue could hear the sound of the yellow-ish liquid dripping from inside of it.

"Get the fuck out before you're the next," Miodowa spoke up to whoever came in, voice cold, almost emotionless. As if she just realized what she had done.

Before Blue heard anything else, everything went dark.

Power off.

-

Miodowa sat there, staring blankly at Blue.

Both eyes shattered, stellium dripping from it, dirtying the dress her daughter knce wore.

Her actual daughter.

Not the machine she constructed.

It was almost hard to stare at the broken thing, its bits spilling out, some shattered, ripped apart to not be recognized ever again, some sunken into the body due to Miodowa's hammer.

Well, that was it.

Sage runned out of the room almost in panic, she had no doubt the police were on their way.

She almost laughed.

Again. Another trial. What would happen this time? Her freedom being taken away? Her whole firm?

She wanted to shout at Sage.

Say she's the only thing keeping her and Siedem's lives stable. Her money, not Sage's.

Not like it mattered.

All she cared about was that she would have to build another one.

Another child.

Another one to not feel lonely.

Well, you can always try again. She knew that. She tried a lot. Just never succeeded.

But you can try over. Again.

And again.

And-
