Chapter Text
The golden towers of Canterlot shimmered in the late afternoon sun, their light stretching across the marble courtyard like a warm embrace. Guards stood at attention by the castle gates, their armor gleaming- but even in such a grand and orderly place, something unexpected was about to unfold.
A soft, hesitant knock echoed against the massive doors.
One of the guards blinked. " Did you hear that?"
Another knock- quieter this time.
The doors slowly creaked open.
Standing there, barely taller than the lowest step, was a small pegasus filly. Her pale yellow coat was slightly dusty, and her long pink mane fell messily over one eye. Her wings were tucked tightly against her sides, trembling.
" I ... um ..." she tried to speak, but her voice came out as little more than a whisper.
The guards exchanged uncertain glances. Before they could respond, a gentle, familiar voice drifted down from the staircase inside.
" What seems to be the matter?"
Princess Celestia descended gracefully, her flowing mane catching the sunlight. The moment her eyes fell on the tiny filly, her expression softened instantly.
" Oh my..." she murmured.
Celestia lowered herself, folding her long legs beneath her so she could meet the filly at eye level. "Hello, little one ," she said, her voice warm and soothing. " There's no need to be afraid " You're safe here."
The filly hesitated, her teal eyes flickering up for only a second before darting back down. Her whole body seemed to shrink under the weight of the moment.
" I...I got lost..." she whispered
Celestia's heart ached at the sound.
"Lost?" she repeated gently. " Do you remember your name?"
The filly nodded ever so slightly.
"F-Fluttershy..."
" A beautiful name," Celestia said with a soft smile. " It suits you perfectly."
From the shadows of the hall, another presence approached- quieter, slower, but no less powerful.
Princess Luna stepped forward, her starry mane trailing behind her like the night sky itself. She paused a short distance away, studying the filly with a thoughtful expression.
"She trembles like a frightened fawn," Luna said softy, her voice unusually gentle. "The poor creature has known fear."
Fluttershy flinched slightly at the unfamiliar voice, instinctively stepping closer to Celestia.
Celestia responded by extending one great wing around her, creating a protective cocoon of warmth. " It's alright" she reassured. " My sister means no harm."
Luna lowered her head, her tone shifting with care. " forgive me, little one. I did not mean to startle thee.
Before the moment could grow too heavy, a third voice- bright and filled with warmth- joined them.
" Oh Who's this?"
Princess Cadence trotted into the hall, her eyes lighting up the instant she was the small pegasus.
" She's adorable!"
Fluttershy shrank again under the sudden attention, pressing gently into Celestia's side.
Cadance quickly softened her approach, lowering herself to the ground just like Celestia had. " Hey- it's okay," she said sweetly. " You don't have to be scared. We're here to help."
Fluttershy peeked between the three princesses.
Three.
Princess.
The realization alone seemed overwhelming.
" I...I didn't mean to come here..." Fluttershy murmured. " I was just trying to find my way home..."
" And you shall," Celestia assured her. " But until then, you will not be alone."
Candace smiled warmly. " We can take care of you while we help find your family."
Luna gave a small nod. " Thou shalt be under royal protection."
Fluttershy blinked, clearly unsure what to do with that information.
Celestia gently nuzzled her. " For now, what matters most is that you feel safe."
There was a long pause.
Then, very slowly, Fluttershy leaned just a tiny bit into Celestia's wing.
It was small.
Barely noticeable.
But it was trust.
Cadance's expression softened as she watched.
" She must be exhausted," she said quietly. " And probably hungry too."
Fluttershy's stomach gave a tiny, betraying rumble.
She immediately covered her mouth with a hoof, eyes wide with embarrassment.
Celestia chuckled softly. " That settles it."
She stood carefully keeping her wing around the filly. " Let us get you something to eat, and a warm place to rest."
Luna stepped aside, her gaze lingering thoughtfully on the small pegasus. " A gentle soul, sister... but there is strength hidden within her."
Celestia smiled " I believe you're right."
As they began to walk deeper into the castle, Fluttershy hesitated only once- glancing back at the open doors behind her.
The world outside felt big.
Cold.
Lonely.
But ahead of her...
Warmth.
Light.
And three kind voices guiding her forward.
With one last tiny step, Fluttershy followed them inside.
The great doors of Canterlot Castle slowly closed behind her.
And just like that
A new chapter of her life had begun.
