It's been a while since Maia found out her deceased brother was a serial killer. Her neighbors and friends refused to believe her. Not even her own parents, who had disowned her for the accusation. They glared at her with unyielding disdain, calling her delusional and attention-seeking, completely disregarding the fact that they themselves were the people who had put her in that position. The body in her brother's room was a twisted piece of art. One she couldn't look away from.
Someone of her own blood, had sought the blood of others.
..Sympathy was something she constantly reached for. She saw how her friends always sought it from others. The tears they'd shed, the words that would make others' chests feel tight.
Seeing the blood seeping out of her brother's dead body, seeing the knife buried in his chest, it was the sight of death, and it was a hurricane of emotions she couldn't understand fully. She wanted to understand. That's when the fixation started.
Her brother was always positive and cheerful. A direct antonym to who she was. She never thought he'd have blood on his hands. She wanted to pull him back from death, and ask him why. But that would never happen.
..It's time to start digging.
Within the chilling environment of her lonely apartment, she started searching for answers everywhere. Searching for articles about serial killers. About her brother. About how he did all his "dirty work." The questions were specific. They sounded insane to the average person looking through her search history. She even went out of her way to ask the public.
That's when she got a message from someone she didn't recognize. That was because the site couldn't get their username.

What? Get caught? Does this user think I'm a serial killer? Well.. if this file contains information about what I'm looking for, it might help me with my book.. and understanding my brother. Judging by the key.. this is probably a chatroom, isn't it? Oh god... I'm going to have to fake being a serial killer.
Talking to actual serial killers was a foreign concept to her. But her brother could live a normal life whilst having his hands dyed crimson, so.. why couldn't they?

Within the roles channel, she could see multiple roles designed for different purposes. There were roles for specifying your primary weapon, roles for your motivation or main objective, pronouns, and oddly enough... zodiac signs.
She chose only what felt right to her.
Doing this feels so weird. It's structured exactly like an online chatroom. But... go with the flow I guess? It's best to be as open as possible. At least when it benefits me, I will.

Wow. So many.. graphic pictures. Seeing everything through mere images in a chatroom just feels... surreal. I... love it.
Angel's explanations on the screen blur into simple colors as Maia stares at one of the images sent recently. It was one of a dead body, brutally mutilated by what seems to be a crowbar.
Who knew a crowbar could do that much to a person?
Maybe it just depends on who's using it.
She stares at the blood pooling around the body, at every gash and mark made on the victim. It was like she was staring at a delicate piece of art, except this one was made with the hands of a serial killer.
The hands of her brother. Or, at least... someone like him.
He had so much blood on his hands, including his own. It only confused her even more. She couldn't stop asking why. Why... he did what he did.
And why did he take his own life for it?

She opens up her notes software, and lists down everything she currently knows.
She should've been taking notes from the very start, since she IS going to write a book for sympathy and other stuff, but... at least she's doing it now, right? Something other than thinking about her brother.
Angel went on to explain the #vent channel. Something about expressing emotion and letting everything out. In the world of serial killing, emotions and sympathy should be a foreign concept. But weirdly enough... it isn't.
Right as the server tour comes to an end, she returns to #main.
But it seems like her time there is cut short.
