Interim Apprentice Service

Summary:

What if Coco had never peeked on Qifrey drawing magic? Without Coco at the Atelier, Agott would still have her walls up, doubt herself, and not value the spells she likes.

But with a test added and the plans of a master, the two still have a chance to meet, and build their path ahead of them.

Notes:

NOT canon-compliant, much more relaxed witch society compared to canon. Given that in canon, a witch living closely with non-witches would be near-impossible. This story focuses on characters more than logistics within the world.

Chapter 1: Test 2.5

Chapter Text

Interim Apprentice Service

Occasionally referred to as Test 2.5, or The Service of the People. Taken after The Sincerity of the Shield and before The Query of the Qui Vive, Apprentices temporarily live with non-witches and service them with acts of magic in daily life. It serves as a guide, showing young witches how their magic has purpose, and not to take their power and knowledge for granted. It is not a mandatory test to take for an apprentice to graduate from their master’s care, yet it is taken by a large number of apprentices.

Young witches often look forward to this sort of externship, it gains them recognition in the world of witches and the outside world, especially if the apprentice is aiding the wealthy and high-standing.
