Chapter Text

Hello! I'm here to put one of my insane ideas into reality. A few points about my writing - this will be a Zootopia fan fiction, with a bit more emphasis on Judy's perspective in an outside point of view. I haven't seen one of these yet, so I hope that this is more unique type of writing. Also, I will be putting in certain songs that you can play while listening to certain parts of the story. I'll put the songs and the artist up here so you can listen to them while reading my writing. I hope that this story will conclude before the most likely final sequel in the Zootopia trilogy so I won't have to make any changes to go with a new story line. The expected length for this story is maybe around 30 to 50 chapters depending on how many ideas come into my head. So, enjoy!

Chapter 1

As we find our protagonists, we must discuss one thing before we enter the madness. We must discuss what is the former powerhouse of the United Mammals, the metropolis of Zootopia. What used to be a shining city in a place once known as, "The City of Angeles", has become a hotbed of crime and opportunity for those considered weak. Will our doe and vulpine find calm in the madness? Let us see and find out…

Judy Hopps sat in the seat of the ZPD Police Cruiser, sipping her coffee and trying to stay awake long enough to finish her shift, even though she had just started. The night before had been a living nightmare, somehow her neighbors had found a way to argue almost through the whole night. "It really is a wonder they are still togehe..r". She was dozing, and needed a slap from her partner, Nick Wilde, to stay awake.

"Carrots? Earth to Judy? WAKE UP!" The scream jolted her, and she then stared down her partner with annoyance, but he held a small grin that made most of her anger melt away, only leading to a smaller punch dosed to the red fox. She could feel her ears perk up in return to his words, her cheeks growing a shade of light pink from the physical contact that now happened, his paw touching her shoulder gently.

"You okay Carrots?" His words laced with a hint of worry.

She felt the stirring of something, something greater than this one simple feeling partnership. She felt herself slipping into a subconscious state of mind, drifting to, maybe… what she w..as… g..o… FOCUS!, she said to herself.

"Hey Carrots, that Black Mustang there," He pointed across the street from where a black muscle car was moving along Trundell Ave. at a speed that could be considered hazardous to the surrounding traffic. It was odd in his opinion, as the car was moving so slow in fact multiple cars had to swerve to avoid colliding with the sluggish car.

"I wonder if they need help?" She stared at the car as an older mammal, a rather jovial capybara, walked up to the car who must have also had the same intent as Judy.

The two partners, rabbit and fox, locked eyes on the Mustang. Together, amethyst and emerald peered over the dashboard to check that nothing was amiss. The capybara seemed to lean down through the window, and a jaguar's head came out through the window. Some words were exchanged, but even Judy's impeccable sense of hearing couldn't pick up the words said because of the traffic and occasional police chatter on the radio.

Judy's trance was broken when she heard her partner speak to her, letting her turn slowly away from the scene unfolding and to the fox.

"Fluff, I hope you are awake for this one, or do you want me to drive because, I think that I, can finally trump you on something."

"Wait, what?" She said, sleepily turning over to face the fox.

"Look."

Judy looked back over to the black car across the street. She noticed that the jaguar and capybara were now under the hood, a faint line of steam emanating menacingly from some component deep within. She then looked to the car's two windows, with the driver side one still being slightly open from the conversation between the capybara and jaguar. Inside she something eerie. Another predator was moving inside the passenger cabin. It looked like a panther, but due to the shade of the large domineering buildings around the car, it was hard to make out what was going on inside.

She did notice one thing though. Sitting on the center console was a firearm, short, with a long magazine loaded into the barrel.

"Dispatch, this is Officer Hopps and Wilde, we have a firearm in sight, and there may be intent to fire.", she quickly added as the panther inside pulled another weapon out of the glove compartment and pulled the rifle back into his hands.

"Carrots, no need to be so tens- LOOK OUT!" Nick yelled, and pulled Judy"s head down just as the bullets flew into the windshield, sending glass everywhere.

The doe looked up just in time to see the rag being forced over the mouth of the capybara, as the jaguar swiftly dragged the rodent into the car's driver side door.

Nick was quicker and got to the radio before Judy could, so she resigned herself to turning on her body cam and switching on the cruiser's sirens to Code 3. Ready for a chase to begin.

"Dispatch, we have a 207 in progress" said Nick, as he was leaning down to prevent any injuries as more bullets whizzed overhead. "Shots have been FIRED!" He quickly moved over as to not get hit by another stray bullet, cracking the brick wall in the alley next to him, sending fragments into the passenger compartment of the police cruiser.

Judy then flipped on the sirens as she peeled out of the alley quickly to now maintain visual of the Mustang, as it was now quickly getting away due to the quick acceleration of the Mustang and the skillful driving of the jaguar, who was pelting bullets back at the cops, who kept only a small eye on the road ahead of him. Many bystanders who witnessed the initial fire ducked as to be hit by a bullet.

"Okay Officer Wilde, we have reinforcements en route to your location now. Please maintain visual contact." Clawhauser tried to speak in an even tone, but he could hear the fright in his voice. Everyone knew that the cheetah was a big fan of the strangest pairing in the ZPD, and Nick had told himself the first time he saw him that he was friend, not the opposition.

As a fox, who were known to be very protective of their pack, tried to keep Judy, who had already put herself in more dangerous situations then the rest of the ZPD combined, kept doing dangerous stunts to help others, Nick wondered when it wouldn't be enough to save this insane furry fluff ball that he called his pack on that weather wall only a few months ago. He kept the thought out of his head of what could happen and steeled himself for the eventual physical confrontation between him and the wild cats ahead of them.

Judy was doing her very best to keep up with the black muscle car, but it ever so slightly began to inch away. Not due all the way to the outmatched pace of the car, but also Judy having barely scraped by her driver's test while at the Academy. This was one thing she knew she wasn't the best at, but she did give it her best shot.

The duo caught a lucky break when the Mustang spun out over a conveniently placed set of spikes from Officer Pottamus. This caused the car to fully spin out and collide with a street sign. The Mustang rolled on two tires to a stop, sparking as it scraped along the ground.

Judy was the first out, quickly followed by Nick, as they drew their sidearms. "ZPD, HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!" Judy yelled as she moved towards the front of her cruiser, Nick following her lead. Nick was watching for any sign of movement within the car, and began to position himself in a way so he could fire if any gun fire was exchanged.

All was silent for just a few moments, until, it wasn't.

Nick didn't know what happened till it hit him. A bullet grazed his shoulder, causing a gash along his collarbone. The next thing he knew, a small, gray furred missle was bringing him to the ground in a bear hug.

"NICK Get Down!" Judy said as she brought her partner to the ground, rolled up onto her hind paws, and released a string of bullets at the perpetrators. She could see them down on their knees, firing shots that were banging off the asphalt and into their cruiser. She directed her gun to do the same.

Nick was now on his hands and knees in the back of the car, trying to stem the unusually large amount of blood coming from the rather small graze on his shoulder, which ran laterally along his left collarbone. He grabbed the trauma kit and ran some gauze pads into his fur, drizzling some iodine along with the pads. The sting drive him to tears, but he knew he needed to hurry as the backup was stuck in traffic, as he could hear from the radio, and he left Judy with two gunmen much larger and powerful with her as well.

He knew that Judy always prided herself on her independence. It was one of her defining characteristics, he thought. But he remembered what he had said on the weather wall, which was just a few months ago, where his emotions flew rampant and his words reflected his true heart's desire.

"No one else matters more to me than you than you do."

The words coursed through him, filling him with a stirring for, well, he didn't quite no yet. He knew that he really adored the rabbit and her ways, but didn't know how to express himself yet. He had to think of a way to do it so it could soften the blow, because something like this had never been tried before, at least to his knowledge. But that is for the future, he told himself. He really needs to get back to Judy, so he made a temporary sling of gauze and some duct tape that was in the trunk of the interceptor. He then grabbed the firearm sitting in his passenger seat and slowly looked out through the window to make sure there were neither hostiles were aiming for his head. Satisfied, he opened the door a set his paw out into the open air, smelling of gun smoke and regret. He then put weight on only to feel fluff on the underside of his paw.

To his horror, he had stepped on his rabbit partner.

Judy, who seemed to be deep in concentration, staring under their police cruiser, unfocused and turned rapidly on Nick.

"Nick! Oh God, you scared me a little. Are you okay?" Her eyes drifted upwards to wear his shoulder sat wrapped in black and gray.

"Jeez Fluff, I should be asking if you're okay, I almost stepped on you!"

"It's fine, let me just radio to make sure bac- Mmph. MMPHHMA!"

Nick looked up quickly to realize that the jaguar, noticing that the officers were distracted, used his reflex's to quickly hop over to the police cruiser and put Judy in a gripping headlock.

"Heh, you killed mine, I'll kill your's."

Nick's eyes contracted in fear as the grip of the jaguar tightened and tightened on Judy's neck. She soon began to try to speak, her words slurring before Judy saw the darkening corners of her vision and then darkness. Nick demanded his brain to think of a way out.

"Let me go, and I'll let her go. Maybe" the jaguar said, as his head drifted over his shoulder to try and pick up this, slightly discernible sound. It was barely audible, but Nick heard it too. Sirens.

Nick, realizing this may be his only shot that he had the jaguar distracted, took his chance. Stepping back onto the pavement and launching himself at his foe, he threw himself at Judy's attacker's face. The jaguar stepped back and released Judy, and she fell to the pavement with a soft whomp.

Nick kicked the jaguar, and he was forced to stagger backwards. Nick did a quick check behind him to make sure Judy looked okay, as a few nearby onlookers rushed to the doe's aid. Satisfied, Nick stepped back and launched himself at the large cat, knocking him over and sending both into a tumble on the asphalt.

Nick clawed, and the jaguar did in return. Both in a frantic shouting and shredding match. Nick, fueled by the fire of this mammal attempting to hurt Judy sent him into a state of overdrive. The jaguar sustained himself on the adrenaline in his bones, and his friend, Jacque Puma, who was bleeding out in the Mustangs back seat. He took a bullet to the knee (courtesy of Judy, who does not yet know) and a blow to the head from the crash. He could be dead, for all the jaguar knew. So he fought with ferocity, neither mammal giving in. Both fighting on their friends behalf, they told themselves.

"WILDE! BACK AWAY NOW!" said a booming voice.

Nick connected the voices through the haze in his head and jumped back just in time before he felt an electrical shock course through the air that made his fur stand on end. The jaguar had been tased by Officer Wolford, who ran forward with cuffs to arrest the jaguar. Nick also saw out of the corner of his eyes that the capybara was being pulled out of the smoking wreck of the Mustang, bound and gagged. Officer Fangmeyer gently set the mammal down, and then looked inside with a grimace on his face.

Nick lay on the ground for a moment, letting his heart rate begin a slow decline. His breathing began to slow before an otter came in above him. "Sir? Are you okay?" He sounded slightly worried and Nick noted that he kept his eyes darting to his right.

"Yeah, I'll be ok.. wo.. ah okay." Nick began to say as he got up, his blood rushing to his head. He felt woozy and gave himself a quick once over. His makeshift sling was holding up fine, and other than some cuts on the larger side and some small scratches, he was more or less okay.

The otter helped the vulpine to his feet, and then said something that brought back Nick's memory of the past few minutes. It wasn't a lot, but enough to get his mind racing.

"Your partner-"

Thats all that was said for Nick to catapult himself in the direction of the police cruiser. To make sure his partner and friend were okay after what had seemed to be a last ditch, desperate attempt for retribution from the jaguar.

Nick rounded on the backside of his cruiser as a paramedic, a taller honey badger, leaned on the ground and put her latex gloves on. A small crowd had gathered to see if the doe was alright. Nick weaved through and did the same.

Judy was still lying in the position she had dropped down when the jaguar released her. Her breathing was slow and shaky, so the second nurse, a grey furred fox, put a breathing mask over the small rabbit's head. The badger then brought over a stretcher as Nick rushed to her side.

"Carrots! Oh, are you okay? If your okay speak to me."

Right now, Judy felt a growing sense of discomfort in her throat. She could make out shapes and colors, but nothing more really. Judy's eyes settled on the red shaped blob in front of her. She felt herself reaching her paw out into the bluriness, and a touch in response. "Jud…y ar u ka y. speak t m." Judy then tried, with much straining, to do as what she had thought she had been asked to do.

"neeeek" was as best she could do. It hurt to much to speak, but the stirring feeling in her chest told herself to make a small exception for the vulpine.

"Hey, hey, I need you to relax for me okay?" The badger said, lowering Judy's head onto a pillow, taking care to leave her ears extended for minimal discomfort.

"WILDE! COME HERE PLEASE!" A voice yelled across the wreckage. It was Bogo.

"Fluff, stay strong for me and for your family okay?" Nick said as he gave a squeeze to her paw.

Judy could only nod in response as the paramedics wheeled Judy's stretcher, along with the panther in that sat in the Mustang, into the ambulance that sped off to Zootopia Medical Hospital.

Nick then grabbed some bandages and did a couple quick wraps around his larger cuts, tied off the edges, and then went to see Bogo.
