The Tale of Destiny (Is that dramatic enough? Pax said I needed to make the name dramatic)

Summary:

My name is Ellie, and if you want to hear my story about how I broke the laws of existence while helping Pokemon, then get reading! It's a tale of action, suspence, romance (in 500 years), and total awesomeness. What are you waiting for?

Chapter 1: Wake up!

Notes:

Hi, guys! The names Ellie the Eevee! My friend Beanie Waddle Dee let me use his computer so I could tell my story, but he had me do it under a pseud, whatever that means. After you're done reading this, you should go read his tales about Kirby, they're not as awesome as my stories but they make a fine second. Anyways, if you want to hear a tale of epic proportions, then you came to the right human-turned-Pokemon!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Now, most people believe that when you wake up at the beginning of a mysterious game or story, the character slowly and gently wakes up. You've probably seen this happen in games like BotW. Well, whoever thought of that idea needs to jump off a cliff, because that's not at all what happened to me.

Instead, my first memories were of me roughly shaken to death, all while a voice yelled "Don't you die on me! Don't you die on me!" The force sent my mind spiraling and I was forced to open my eyes, although my head was shaking so fast all I could see was a yellow blur.

"Huh?" I groaned out from confusion and nausea. As soon as I made noise, the shaking stopped and I was dropped to the floor. Ouch.

"Oh, good," the voice said. "I thought you were dead." My eyes slowly opened again only to see small yellow feet. So I tilted my head up to see something strangely familiar staring over me with a worried expression. yellow body. Red cheeks. Pointy ears.

'No way...' I thought in my dizzy head.

"Are you okay?" The yellow squirrel asked worriedly. "Seems like a weird place to nap, wouldn't you agree?"

"Other than having my insides shaken inside out, I guess I'm fine." Even being shook to death by a yellow rat wouldn't stop me from being snarky.

The creature (that must've been an illusion because there's no way he was real) gave an embarrassed chuckle. "Sorry about that, I was afraid you were dead so I panicked." Great, now I feel guilty.

"It's fine, I guess..." I replied. The dizziness had finally cleared, which proved that what I was seeing was impossible. "Um, I think you bonked my head or something, because you look like a Pokemon to me."

The imaginary Pokemon scratched the back of his head. "Uh, that's because I am a Pokemon? What about that is shocking?"

I shook my head; this could not be happening. "B-but, Pokemon aren't real! And they don't talk!"

The pikachu looked even more confused. "What do you mean we're not real? You're a Pokemon, and you're real."

"I'm not a Pokemon, I'm a human!"

"A human? Really, 'cuz either I need glasses, or you're just a normal eevee." My brain stopped working. Slowly, my head tilted down to my body, which I only just now paid attention to. Brown fur, four legs, fluffy tail. Yep, I was a eevee. I'd like to say I handled the revelation well, but I instead yelled at the top of my lungs;

"SON OF A BI-"

PIKACHU

Okay, this girl was really starting to freak me out. So I found an eevee girl lying down on the path, and I panicked because I had never been in this kinda situation before. So I did the first thing I could think of; shake the living daylight outta her. Looking back, I realize I probably shoulda checked her heartbeat first. And then she woke up, to my relief, only to start freaking out about us not being real and her being a human. First of all, I'm very real, thank you.

Second, I'm a little skeptical about the whole human thing. According to legend, humans were evil and mystical creatures from the past, caring only about taking things over and wealth. According to the stories, the humans used to rule our world with amazing technology, but their greed and foolishness not only caused their extinction, but it also nearly destroyed all life as we know it, and it took the planet centuries to heal with Pokemon now in charge. If it wasn't for the ancient ruins they had left behind (like those Power Plants), most Pokemon would just peg it off as a spooky story.

Right now the eevee girl was walking in circles screaming to herself about this being a dream and how this could not be happening. Okay, maybe she was a human, because I don't think a Pokemon is capable of a meltdown like that.

"Hey," I slowly said, gently putting my hand on the eevee girl's shoulder. "I'm sure everything's gonna be fine." She looked dead into my eyes. Even though she was panicking she was still looking at me with a face that read "you're an idiot".

"Okay?" She squeaked out, her voice a mix between panic and annoyance. "I'm trapped in the body of a dog thing from a video game!?! How is that okay!?!"

"Okay!" I raised my hands in defense. "Can I maybe get your name?"

EEVEE

A name? A name...why can't I remember my name!?! As a matter of fact, now that I thought about it, I realized I couldn't remember anything. My name, where I come from, how the #@*% I got here, nothing rung a bell. As if me becoming a video game character wasn't enough for my brittle sanity, I apparently had no sense of identity.

"I...don't remember," At this point I plopped to the floor, tears starting to form in my eyes. This was all too much. "I can't remember anything!"

"Uh, hey," the pikachu said, sitting beside me and cautiously rubbing my back. "Whatever's going on with you, I'll try to help. And until you get your memories back, I can help you think of a new name, that is, if you'd like?"

My breathing slowed down. This guy seemed to be an idiot, but he helped calm me down. "A new name? Uh...sure, why not?"

"Great! What about Dawn?"

"Pass."

"Okay, uh, May?"

"Lame."

"...Delia?"

"Are you even trying anymore?"

"Okay, fine, what about I don't know...Sally? Ellie? Barbara?"

"Wait, go back."

"Oh, so you hate Delia but Barbara is-"

"No, before that!"

"Uh, Ellie?"

'Ellie', I thought in my head. It had a nice ring to it, and I couldn't help feel a strange connection to that certain name.

"Ellie," I said out loud, slowly standing up. "I like it."

"Great!" The Pikachu reached out his hand paw. "It's nice to meet you, Ellie. My name's Pax." Pax...it was a weird name, but I liked the way it felt on my tongue. I cautiously extended my front paw, and we shook hands. Maybe this guy could help me find a way back to the real world. But hopefully this was all just a dream and I'll soon...

"Help!" A scared voice shot out in the distance.
