“It’s okay,” Apollo says softly, and Hermes wants to believe him. But he doesn’t. He’s the god of lies, he’s not going to be fooled by them, as much as he wishes he could be. As much as things would be easier if he thought it was okay.
He can’t detect a lie, it sounds like he’s being honest but he can’t be, there’s no way it’s true, no way it could be okay
He’s lying. Hermes wishes it were true, but Apollo’s lying. Apollo’s never been good at lying.
Hermes leans into Apollo’s touch anyway. It’s nice to pretend.
