When he opened the door Tori smirked at him.
“Ready to face the enemy?”
Nick barked out a laugh which suddenly quelled his nervousness completely.
He smiled at Tori as he led her into the room. “As ready as I’m ever going to be. How is he?”
“Oh, you mean my cool, sassy, always-on-top-of-everything younger brother? Yeah, he’s freaking out. But he’s happy,” she added with an approving nod at Nick.
He beamed at her. “I’m going to make sure that he stays happy, I promise.”
“I know. Just promise me that you’ll let him make you happy, too. You deserve it.”
Nick looked at her with tears in his eyes. “He’s making me happy. Every single second.”
“Well then,” Tori said, matter of factly, trying to blink away the tears that welled up in her eyes. “Let’s get you out there so you can start the first day of the rest of your life.”
When Nick said “I do” in front of all their friends and family, he felt an overwhelming sense of rightness and calm.
He was home.
Charlie’s sparkling eyes reflected his feelings back at him as they met in their first kiss as husband and husband.
