They were the perfect trio, just him, Ribbit, and Kaufmo.
The youngest here, 22, 20, and 23.
The iconic jokesters, even if they butted heads on their ideas of a joke.
Jax and Ribbit always acted like siblings, fought like them too. It was like fate that they were going to be close, since their arrivals were only days apart.
You'd think he'd learn to not be such a jackass with a good support system, right?
Turns out, people never learned.
Jax knew that Ribbit would never want to see him again after the stunt he pulled earlier. He knew he messed up badly; he got a yelling at by Ragatha and Kaufmo shortly after he pulled that prank.
He forgot how senstive Ribbit could be sometimes. Especially after the past few weeks. He didn't know she would react like that.
So, here he was, sneaking out at night to try and give Ribbit her favorite food, Corn nuggets. He never knew why she liked that stuff so much.
He couldn't hear her venting to Gangle like earlier, so she was either asleep or drawing to get her mind off it.
Here goes nothing.
"Uh..Ribbit? You awake in there? Look, I'm sorry about earlier, I didn't know it would make you that upset."
No response. She was either asleep or ignoring him. He didn't entirely blame her for that.
"I know things have been hard for you in the past few weeks. I shouldn't have been so harsh." Jax continued, balancing the bowl of nuggets as he tried to get her to open the door.
Still no response. Damn, he was the world's worst apologist, huh?
"I get it, you're still a bit @#!!@( at me. C'mon, I got your favorite food, maybe that'll help?" Jax was starting to get a bit worried, and a bit pissed. He was guessing that she was either in the deepest sleep of her life or she was ignoring him, probably to get him back for the prank earlier.
She wasn't answering still.
Jax sighed, crouching near the door and setting the plate down, incase she did decide to come out.
He then got an idea, one that he would regret for the rest of his life.
Jax went over to Kaufmo's room, tapping his knuckles onto the door. Jax couldn't exactly open Ribbit's door himself, he didn't have a key, but Kaufmo knew where a key was.
Plus, it was more likely that Ribbit would be open to talk to Kaufmo rather than Jax right now.
The door creaked open, revealing a tired looking Kaufmo. He must've been sleeping before Jax had woken him up.
"Oops." Jax smiled at his tired friend.
Kaufmo sighed, rubbing his eyes as he sleepily glared at the purple nusince in front of him. "I'm guessing she's still not talking to you?"
Jax shook his head, reciveing an exaperated sigh from Kaufmo in the process.
"Fine, I'll go talk to her. But this is the last time I'm getting up to resolve something that you did, Jax." Kaufmo came out of his room, just wanting to comfort his friend, smack the shit out of his other friend, and go back to bed.
Jax gave a crooked thumbs up as he watched Kaufmo retrive a key from the vase.
'Oh, so that's where they were.' Jax thought, making a mental note of it. It wasn't like he would need it, he just wanted a reason to put centipedes in people's rooms.
Kaufmo walked over to Ribbit's room, carefully stepping over the corn nuggets, and inserted the key.
It wasn't the first time Kaufmo had to resolve something Jax did. If it was either a bad prank, or if he broke Gangle's mask, Kaufmo was usually the one who had to apologize for Jax.
He was getting sick of it.
God, why can't this idiot actually apologize instead of freezing up like a deer in the middle of the apology?
This was going to be the last time Kaufmo would do this for him. The last time he would apologize for someone who was too afraid to show any sort of "weakness." Jax can do it alone from now on.
"Ribbit, are you awake? I'm coming in to check on you." Kaufmo said quietly, incase Ribbit was sleeping, before opening the door.
The key dropped to the floor as Kaufmo stood frozen. He wanted to scream, he wanted to cry, but he couldn't even say her name.
He was frozen, he didn't even run, not at first. He just stared right ahead, at the glowing mass that once was someone he cared about.
A million eyes stared back at him, Ribbit's bowtie on the floor.
