Notes:

This is like.. my first AO3 fic. I've never been more excited to go make a fic, knowing there is a curse. It's like I'm gambling my already wrecked life for good or bad.

Anyways, very wattpad-y writing, I'm new to writing. Find this same fic on wattpad under the same name.

Chapter Text

"Y/N, you must learn how to interact with people."

"But mom!! -"

"You will never get friends if you ignore everyone.. "

[[[ - third person pov.

It was Y/N's first day in an American school. She's been to more than one school before, so she thought that getting used to this new one wouldn't be that hard.

She was wrong.

The moment Y/N stepped foot onto that campus ground, she received an instant wave of culture shock. The noisy halls, the roaming students, the messy area - and... is that someone kissing? Was America really like this?

She had walked hall to hall, getting toured around by the principal. Almost every kid here was a mess. Where was their discipline, their respect?? They were all over the place!

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.. まるで子供みたい!敬意も規律もない。" ( Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk. Like kids! No respect, no discipline.. ) Y/N thought to herself, as she looked and passed by a lot of students.

"And over here, we have our -"

"下午好 [Xiàwǔ hǎo]."
(  Good afternoon, )

Spoke a male student who was leaning by his locker, taking a short break from what he was doing to politely bow to the principal.

".. Good afternoon, Li."
The principal responded back before carrying on with the tour.

"ああ...尊敬できる子?そういう子が欲しいんだ。"
(  Ah... a child you can respect? That's the kind of person I want.  )

As the day passed by, and her first day of school officially started, Y/N tried her very best to show the respect and discipline that many students in this school lacked, no matter the situation.

And by no matter the situation, no matter the situation.

Y/N stood in line, a little annoyed. She had been waiting this long time for food, and she had never complained. But the students around here always complained and even tried cutting the line.

As she got pushed back further and further and closer to the end of the line (  quite literally  ), she had only realized that they put her in the last place when she saw she was right next to the dessert display.

As a kid piled behind her, she groaned softly to herself, muttering out words of frustration.

"マジで?公平さはどこへ行ってしまったの?この子たちは...."
(  Seriously? What happened to fairness? These kids...  )

"Are you.. uh, speaking.. Japanese?" Asked the kid behind her, whom she didn't even know what there or existed. Out of all the noises that could've triggered her, this one had to startle her.

"eek! u-uh-"
"Y-Yes! Hi- uh?-"

She had turned around, only to be met with the one kid she had spotted earlier; when she was toured around the hallways. She slowly faced the line once more, trying not to go insane. She was so nervous. She hated interacting with people, she hated it!

That poor kid could hear her practically laugh at herself as she tried to look anywhere but behind her - anywhere but at him.

 . . .

".. uh, hold on - ... たぶん、彼らにどこにいるかを伝えるべきでしょう。ここではそれが普通のことなのです。.." (  Maybe you should tell them where they should be, it's normal here.  )

The kid spoke with all his knowledge knowing might, trying to communicate with her. Y/N looked back at them (  with slight shock  ) and shook her head with a smile before immediately facing forward. Oh goodness, now this was even more awkward.

"...n-no that's not uh.. 良い- uh-"

"Good? I believe the word you are looking for is good!"

"Yes yEs! Ahem- good good- not good.."

 . . .

Just as Y/N thought she had flunked her only chance of becoming friends with someone tolerable, the kid behind her and gently knocked on her shoulder.

"My name's Li, Li Fong. Call me Li, Fong, or y'know.. stuffed crust.." He introduced himself, the name certainly ringing a bell in Y/N's mind.

Li Fong. . .

The 5 boroughs winner?
Beat Connor Day last tournament?
THE Kung-fu and Karate kid?
ATTENDS HER SCHOOL?!!?!

She had heard it on the news before, saw the video footage of his fight -  just a few days back when they first landed. Never knew she'd meet the big guy himself.

"Uh, yeah.. okay.. m-my name is uh..-  Stacy!" The girl fumbled, trying to sound normal. Trying to sound American.

"Stacy? Bu-" = "No sorry my uh- my name is-"

"Are you good? You're kind of panicking..-"

"– My name is Y/N. For real, sorry."

~+------------------+~

"Nice to meet ya Y/N. Guess I'll be calling you Stacy now, huh."

"Err.." She totally flunked it. Great.
