Chapter Text
7am. Beep beep. Pure Vanilla woke up, a quiet sigh escaping him as he shut off his alarm clock. He pushed a blonde lock of hair out of his eyes as he glanced down at his phone. He gasped as he noticed the time, panic overcoming him.
“Ack! Strawberry Crepe, Custard are you guys ready to go to school?” He called out as he quickly grabbed some comfortable clothes from his dresser and threw them on.
“Yeah! What’s for breakfast?” Strawberry Crepe answered, while Custard admired himself in the mirror, pretending to be a king.
“I’ll get you guys some cereal!” Pure Vanilla called back, exiting his room, but not before grabbing his backpack from beside his nightstand and throwing it over his shoulder, then running down to the kitchen to quickly prepare some cereal for Strawberry Crepe and Custard.
Custard was the first down, wearing his crown and royal robes that he loved dearly.
“I am your royal king and I ask of you some cereal!” Custard declared, raising a pretend staff towards Pure Vanilla.
Pure Vanilla chuckled, and pushed a bowl of cereal towards Custard.
“Eat up. A king needs his nutrition.”
Strawberry Crepe came down a moment later and quickly ate her cereal, thanking Pure Vanilla when she finished.
Pure Vanilla was the only one who didn’t eat something as the three siblings exited the house and hurried to their bus stop, where the bus was about to leave.
They quickly got in, Pure Vanilla slumping down onto a seat with a long sigh of relief as he looked to the side, examining the scenery as the bus made its way to the school.
7:30am. Pure Vanilla arrived at school, still relieved he wasn’t late.
Hollyberry was the first to notice him enter the building and waved him over to where she, Dark Cacao, Golden cheese, and White Lily were gathered.
Pure Vanilla grinned and headed over.
“Pure Vanilla! We almost thought you weren’t going to show up!” Hollyberry said, giving him an aggressively tight hug.
Pure Vanilla yelped at the strength of her hug, but hugged her back.
“I woke up late today. Sorry..”
“No need for apologies Vanilla. We’re just happy you made it.” Hollyberry said cheerfully, looking at the other Ancients, who nodded along.
Rinngggg. The first bell rung and the Ancients dispersed, heading off to their classes.

Pure Vanilla was sitting quietly in his class when a student hurried into class, slightly out of breath.
“Shadow Milk. You’re late. Again.” The professor said, looking to be in quite the mood.
Pure Vanilla’s gaze followed Shadow Milk as he scoffed and ignored the professor, sitting down next to Black Sapphire and starting to yap away to him.
The professor then called the class to attention and Pure Vanilla pulled his gaze away from Shadow Milk and onto the professor.
Shadow Milk, however, did not and continued yapping to Black Sapphire, paying the professor no mind.
“Shadow Milk! Stop chitter-chattering anway with Black Sapphire and pay attention for the witches’ sake!” the professor snapped, staring menacingly at Shadow Milk.
“No one says ‘chitter chatter’ anymore. Get with the times, unc.” Shadow Milk rolled his eyes and shared a snicker with some of the students.
“Just get out of my class at this point, Shadow Milk. Your behavior is not welcome here.” The professor pointed towards the door. “There’s the door. Use it.”
“Good. I’d rather be out there than in here anyways.” Shadow Milk got up, gave a dramatic bow, and strutted out through the door.
Black Sapphire clapped his hands together.
“Bravo! Bravo!”
“Shut up and get to work.” The professor growled, rubbing his temples.

Riiinnnngggg.
Pure Vanilla packed away his things into his bag as the bell that signaled the end of the fourth period and the beginning of lunch sounded.
He quickly made his way to the lunchroom and was able to snag a spot in line with White Lily.
“Hey, Lily!” He waved happily to his friend.
White Lily turned around, her face lighting up as she saw Pure Vanilla’s face.
“Hiii! It’s so good to see you! How have you been? Still taking care of Strawberry Crepe and Custard?”
“Yeah.. Honestly, it’s kind of draining. I’ve barely had any time for myself.” His tone quickly brightened, not wanting to concern White Lily. “But, that’s okay with me! I love taking care of them. I just wish our parents would stick around more often..”
“Just don’t overwork yourself, okay? I’ll always be there for you if you need an extra hand, Vanilla.” White Lily smiled sympathetically towards Pure Vanilla and gently put her arm around his, giving him a reassuring squeeze.
The two got their lunch trays together and walked over to their usual table with the rest of their friend group.
As soon as they sat down, Hollyberry eyed Pure Vanilla closely, making sure that Pure Vanilla actually ate his lunch.
After watching Pure Vanilla take his first bite out of his sandwich, she spoke up.
“Guys, you will never believe what happened during my first hour.”
“What is it now..?” Dark Cacao looked up from his plate, the slightest bit of interest piqued in his expression.
“So,” Hollyberry paused slightly to finish chewing some of her food before continuing, “I decided that this weekend would be the perfect weekend to host a big, super fun party. So I started inviting everyone in my first period to the party, and guess who wants to come?” She waited for one of the Ancients to entertain her question.
“Who wants to come?” Pure Vanilla asked, genuinely curious.
“Eternal Sugar! Can you believe it? She wants to come to one of my parties!!”
Silence.
White Lily coughed a bit and Golden Cheese eventually spoke up.
“Uh, Hollyberry..? You do realize Eternal Sugar is part of the most rival group to ours, right? If she wants to come, that means she’s probably planning on ruining it in some awful way. That’s just the kind of thing that she and the other Beasts do.”
“Maybe the Beasts are trying to change their ties to us? Maybe they want to be allies instead of enemies now?” Pure Vanilla offered, wanting there to be a good outcome of this situation.
“I agree with Vanilla! We don’t have to be enemies with the Beasts, or friends! We could become allies instead!” Hollyberry shot Pure Vanilla a grateful look for helping her out.
“I don’t know.. but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to give them a chance.. Hopefully.” White Lily said with wariness, still unsure about this whole situation.
“I mean, it might be possible. But, let’s at least keep our guards up. I do not want to be beaten by a Beast.” Dark Cacao said in his usual gruff manner.
Golden Cheese looked around at the rest of the group nodding along, and finally gave in.
“Fine. But, if they dare try to lay a single finger on any of my golden jewelry, they will be sorry.”
“So, party with not only a good majority of the school, but also the Beasts is a go. Yay!!” Hollyberry was overjoyed as she immediately started texting Eternal Sugar of the news.
Pure Vanilla scratched the back of his neck as he listened to his friends talk about the upcoming party, wondering why he felt as if some cookie was.. staring at him?
