Days Off

Summary:

Days off while being the boss of a mafia is a rarity.

Work Text:

Being the boss of the Neapolitan mafia didn’t exactly grant many days off.

In fact, there were no real days off. If he put off his work for a day, it meant he’d just have more piled up later and he would get behind. But sometimes, it was worth it. Sometimes the relaxation was needed. And sometimes, it was just nice to be able to sleep in.

Blinking his eyes open, he rubbed at them a bit, sitting up in bed and feeling an arm fall from his chest. Taking a moment to pause and register it, he looked over to see Fugo still sound asleep beside him—another rarity. The other boy generally was awake for hours beforehand, simply pretending to be asleep so he didn’t wake him. To see him still asleep at this hour was on the abnormal, verging on near impossible. A smile graced Giorno’s lips as he reached out to carefully move a strand of the other’s hair away. It was as if he was looking at a staged photograph in a magazine.

Which gave him an idea.

Turning to the nightstand, he grabbed his phone and carefully shifted, making sure as to not wake the other. Opening the camera, he quickly snapped a picture. Pausing for a moment afterward, gears started turning in his head. There were ways to make this look even better. To make this look even more like a photograph from a magazine. And he was most definitely going to do just that.

Calling out his stand, he started to grow different types of flowers around Fugo. For the time being he put the meanings of them out of his head—with great difficulty—and focused instead on which would complement the other’s features.  Magnolias, hydrangeas, foxgloves, violets, lavender. Most of the flowers were positioned around the other’s body, though some he placed carefully in his hair and his slightly curled fist.

Now the image was perfect.

Moving back, he took another picture, then another from a different angle. He took as many pictures as he could before he saw the older boy start to stir a bit. Fugo’s eyes blinked open slowly and lazily, still half-lid even when it was clear he was keeping them open. He did little more than lay there for a moment before sniffling and letting out a sneeze, brows furrowing in confusion as he became more awake.

Giorno watched as he shifted to sit up, flowers falling from his hair as he looked around at the mass of flora around him. After a moment or two, he finally looked over at him, dazed and confused about what was going on.

“Am…am I dreaming right now?”

The question was filled with such genuine confusion he couldn’t help but let out a laugh, which clearly only made the other more confused.

“Good morning, tesoro,” he responded, leaning in to give Fugo a quick kiss. “Does that answer your question?”

The other stared at him for another moment, eyes still clearly unfocused and drowsy. He watched as Fugo simply closed them again and laid his head back down.

“Yeah, I guess I am. A nice dream where my boyfriend wakes up before me.” It was clear he was trying hard not to smile, which only made Giorno smile more himself as well as laugh, shoving him gently.

Yes, being the boss was hard, but moments like these helped make it just a bit easier.
