    Fugo’s gut twists, and he can’t help but think that dishonesty would hurt less. There are things that he would rather not have to contemplate, and Giorno’s feelings towards him, nonsensical as they are, are high on the list. “I just- I don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense.”

    Giorno reclines back in his chair, tilting his chin to the left the way he does when he’s thinking. His braid falls to the side and he tucks it behind his ear slowly. Cerulean reflects flickering orange, the freckles on his cheeks a small audience. “But you believe me,” he states, though it weighs between them like a question. Dense, dry. His gaze never falters; Fugo feels like an insect on display, pinned to a corkboard and privy to observation.

    He turns his head to the left, obstinate. “Of course I believe you.”
