Work Text:
Kagami’s mother took and trapped her daughter’s boyfriend a few minutes ago. He is alive and well now, of course. For he is always known to survive things he shouldn’t have to. But for Kagami it isn’t enough to come out of a problem alive.
“You’re staring at me.” He points out.
If it were anyone else she would’ve laughed awkwardly before apologizing. But he’s Felix and he doesn’t want a sorry from her, he wants whatever it is that’s on her mind.
“I’m just making sure that you’re-“
“I’m okay. I promise.”
“I-“
“Stop worrying. We should be celebrating. I mean, do I trust your mother, absolutely not. But that doesn’t mean we don’t get to be happy about her appearing to accept that we’re together!”
Right. That. Her mother has seemed to back away from trying to end their relationship. Something she should’ve done ages ago. Before trapping Felix at least. But yes, she is also happy about it. No more of her mother trapping Felix. They have gone in and out of a problem alive. But survival isn’t enough for Kagami.
“I don’t want you to be okay.”
He tilts his head at that. She wants to kiss him. Today they’ve kissed three times already.
“I want you to be thriving. I want you to love the life you’ve survived for.”
He smiles and decidedly says “I am. I do.”
She smiles then. She is more than satisfied. He is happy. They are thriving.
She kisses him. “Let’s celebrate.”
