Work Text:

Sanemi wasn’t sure whose idea it was, or why he even agreed to it but he, Giyuu and Genya were going to the beach.

Sanemi himself wasn’t a fan. He didn’t like swimming, he didn’t like sand and he burnt too easily in the sun, but Genya was excited and that is what mattered.

“Almost ready to go, Gen?” Sanemi called as he finished packing his bag.

Genya came out of his room nodding, holding Bingo in one arm and his bag in the other, already changed into his swim trunks.

“Bingo’s not coming, bud,” Sanemi told Genya upon seeing the beloved plushie in his brother's arm.

Genya whined and held Bingo tighter.

“She’ll get wet and dirty and then you won’t be able to sleep with her tonight,” Sanemi explained.

Genya stood at the entrance of the hall holding Bingo for a bit longer then he walked over and placed Bingo on the couch. He seemed sad to be leaving her behind, but Sanemi knew Genya would quickly get over it.

“Giyuu,” Sanemi called down the hall, “you ready?”

Giyuu stepped out of his and Sanemi’s room, wearing a pair of swim trunks and a black t-shirt.

Sanemi himself was also wearing swim trunks and an old t-shirt under his shirt was his binder, and he was sure Giyuu had his on as well. Neither he nor Giyuu had gotten top surgery yet, for Sanemi it wasn’t even anything he was planning on getting any time soon.

Sanemi sighed, “Okay, I think we have everything. You both ready to go?”

Genya nodded enthusiastically while Giyuu gave a soft “yeah.”

Sanemi helped Genya get his shoes on and soon the trio were heading down the stairs and to Sanemi’s car. He helped his brother into the back seat bulking him up, before going to the front and getting into the car himself.

It wasn’t a long drive to the beach they had chosen to go to. The whole drive Genya kept pointing out the other cars and buildings they passed by and Sanemi couldn’t help but smile at his brother's enthusiasm.

He was also happy because due to how much Genya was talking he likely regressed a lot older meaning he wouldn’t have to worry about accidents.

He was, however, worried about Giyuu. His boyfriend had said very little on the drive, only talking to answer Genya when he spoke to him.

When they arrived at the beach, Sanemi had to stop his brother from running off. “Gotta put sunscreen off first bud.”

Genya whined and reluctantly let his brother cover him in the sunscreen, because the last thing Sanemi wanted was his brother to get a sun burn. Once Sanemi was done putting sunscreen on Genya, he put some on himself then grabbed the bag he had packed with one hand and his brother's hand in the other.

Sanemi led Genya and Giyuu down to the beach, finding a nice place to set up their blanket and other items. It wasn’t too far from the water, but far enough away from others they had some privacy.

Genya pulled on Sanemi's hand.

“Slow down Genya,” Sanemi warned, “We’re not set up yet.”

Genya whined and pouted.

“None of that now,” Sanemi told his brother, “We can go down to the water in a second.”

And true to his word only a few seconds later Sanemi was getting Genya ready to head down to the water. “You coming?” He asked Giyuu.

“No,” Giyuu shook his head, “I’ll watch from here.”

“Okay,” Sanemi replied, a bit worried, he knew the beach wasn’t Giyuu’s favorite place to be but he did want his boyfriend to have some fun.

Sanemi led Genya down to the water, the little growing more excited with each step they took towards it.

“Lets stay where it’s shallow okay, bud,” Sanemi told his brother.

Genya nodded as he kicked at the water. The two ended up going in deep enough for Genay to be able to splash at the water's surface, getting Sanemi wet in the process which he wasn’t too keen on, but Genya was having fun and that was what mattered.

Sanemi turned looking up the beach to see Giyuu watching them, his knees pressed against his chest. Sanemi waved to him and Giyuu waved back.

“Nemi,” Genya said, getting his brother's attention.

“What's up?”

“Why isn’t Giyuu playin’ with us?”

“He just wants to rest,” Sanemi told Genya.

“But I wanna play with Giyuu too,” Genya whined.

“I know bud, maybe later.”

“You promise?”

“I can’t promise anything, Gen, that’ll be up to Giyuu.”

Genya whined, but seemed to understand what Sanemi meant and soon the two were back playing in the water.

“Let’s go back to Giyuu,” Sanemi told Genya after a while.

“Why?”

“Time for us to eat.”

“Don’t wanna,” Genya replied as he went back to splashing in the water.

“Too bad,” Sanemi scooped Genya up and rested him against his hip, “I packed watermelon just for you.”

Genya made a happy sound and Sanemi was able to carry him back up the beach to where Giyuu was sitting, quietly reading a book.

“Hey,” Sanemi greeted putting Genya down on the ground.

Giyuu put his book down after marking the page he was on. “Having fun?”

Sanemi nodded, “He kept splashing me though,” Sanemi said, gesturing to Genya.

Genya just smiled.

“We’re taking a break to eat,” Sanemi told Giyuu and he rummaged through the bag, eventually pulling out a container of watermelon cut into cubes.

Genya immediately started doing grabby hands and Sanemi couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Yeah bud,” Sanemi sat down on the blanket and Genya crawled over to Sanemi sitting down in his lap.

Sanemi opened the container for Genya, who quickly stuck his hand in and began eating.

Sanemi chucked again as he ran his fingers through his brother's wet hair. “How about you?” Sanemi said, turning to Giyuu.

Giyu shrugged, “I’m doing fine.”

Sanemi managed a small smile. Giyuu hadn’t been too keen on coming, and Sanemi was fine with that, Genya on the other hand wasn’t and partially begged Giyuu to come along and eventually he caved and agreed to join Sanemi and Genya on their trip to the beach.

“Thanks for coming,” Sanemi told Giyuu.

Giyuu just nodded.

Once Genya was done eating his watermelon, Sanemi wiped his hands clean with a towel then he placed the empty container back into the bag.

“What do you want to do now Gen?” Sanemi asked his brother.

Genya shrugged, then looked around, before crawling off the blanket onto the beach nearby.

“Wanna play in the sand?” Sanemi asked.

Genya nodded then he moved a handful of sand to the side, followed by another.

Sanemi smiled as he watched his brother. By the looks of it Genya was just digging a hole in the sand. It made Sanemi think about how his brother played with his blocks, in a way that was simple.

“‘Yuu,” Genya said, looking up from the small dent he had made in the ground.

Sanemi wasn’t sure when Genya started calling Giyuu, Yuu it was a cute and rather childish nickname the same as his own Nemi.

“What?” Giyuu replied.

“Come over here.”

Giyuu looked to Sanemi, who shrugged. Giyuu put his book down again then walked over to where Genya was digging.

“What's up?” Giyuu asked as he knelt down in front of Genya

Genya moved another handful of sand out of the way. “Dig with me,” he told Giyuu.

Giyuu sat down with a small sigh. “Sure.” He then began helping Genya move sand out of the way, forming a small pile of it.

Sanemi was smiling again. It was a heart warming sight, his brother and boyfriend sitting together digging a hole in the sand.

As he watched them, Sanemi made a mental note to pick up some toys for the beach next time they were there.

Genya seemed to eventually get bored of digging the hole because he turned to Sanemi,”Nemi.”

“Yeah bud?”

Genya pointed to the water.

“Wanna go play in the water again?”

Genya nodded.

Sanemi stood up and walked over to his brother and Giyuu. “Want to join us?” he asked his boyfriend.

Giyuu looked down the beach towards the water, “Sure.”

Sanemi was actually surprised by Giyuu's answer; he was sure his boyfriend would have preferred to go back to his book.

Sanemi held Genya’s hand as they made their way down to the water.

“Remember Genya, stay where it’s shallow.”

Genya nodded as he let go of his brother’s hands and began to wade out into the shallows of the water, Sanemi and Giyuu following behind him.

Genya began splashing Sanemi as soon as he was near. Giyuu stayed a bit away watching the brothers play. Sanemi noticing this got Genya's attention. “No splashing Giyuu, okay?”

Genya nodded, then splashed water into his brother's face.

Giyuu ended up just watching as Genya and Sanemi played, but whenever Sanemi would look over to Giyuu he saw his boyfriend smiling.

Eventually Genya started splashing Sanemi a lot less, before eventually grabbing onto Sanemi’s arm.

“Getting tired bud?”

“No,” Genya mumbled, clearly tired

“It is getting late. How about we dry off and head home.”

Genya whined but eventually nodded.

Sanemi scooped his brother into his arms, who immediately nuzzled into the crock of his brother's neck. “Yeah, it's definitely home time.”

Sanemi and Giyuu went back to their blanket. Sanemi put Genya down and wrapped him up in a towel drying him off, at the same time Giyuu was begging to pack up their stuff.

Once everything was packed up and Giyuu and Sanemi had dried off, they went back to the car. Genya was nodding off in his brother's arms as he gripped Sanemi damp shirt.

“Did you have fun bud?” Sanemi asked Genya in a hushed tone.

Genya nodded as he brought a thumb to his mouth.

Once they reached the car, Sanemi got Genya into the back seat and buckled his brother’s seatbelt before he went to the front of the car. The drive home was quiet, as Genya had quickly drifted off to sleep.

When they got home, Sanemi grabbed his brother from the back seat as Giyuu grabbed the bags they had brought to the beach. Sanemi carried his brother up the stairs to the apartment.

As Sanemi was getting Genya's shoes off the little stirred from his sleep.

“Sorry bud, didn’t mean to thank you.”

Genya just hummed as he rested his head on Sanemi’s shoulder.

“How about we get cleaned up then take a nap?”

Genya hummed again.

“I’m going to give Genya a bath,” Sanemi told Giyuu, who just nodded.

Sanemi gave Genya a quick bath, Genya dozing off the whole time. Once the bath was done, Sanemi took Genya to his room and got him ready for bed.

“Sweet dreams,” Sanemi told Genya as he tucked him in making sure Bingo was close.

Genya was already asleep at this point, the little had had a full and exciting day so Sanemi didn’t blame him.

Sanemi closed the door softly as he left Genya’s room.

Sanemi went to his own room and got changed before meeting Giyuu in the living room.

“So, how was it?” Sanemi asked as he sat down next to Giyuu.

“It was fun,” Giyuu replied, leaning against Sanemi.

“Would you want to do it again?”

“Maybe.”

“I’m sure Genya would like to go again.”

“Probably.”

“Then we’ll have to do it again,” Sanemi mumbled, “Next I’ll bring stuff so you won’t have to dig holes with your hands.”

Giyuu chuckled softly, “Please.”

Sanemi and Giyuu sat quietly in the living room, resting after a long day at the beach with Genya. To Sanemi the whole day had been worth it because it made his little brother happy.
