You and me, always together be
The War, the Empire, the Rebellion.
One fight the same as any other for these warriors? Perhaps.
But for Crosshair and Hunter, having been torn apart and then, coming back together again, it meant a lot. It meant everything. They were soldiers born and bred for it all after all.
And now? Well, they were both free in a manner of speaking.
The internal struggles between the two brothers, former partners, now trying to fix that which had been broken between them. A long road it was certainly ahead for them both. The fix not an easy one at all.
True, the trust was already there. Crosshair having proven it over and over again with his most recent actions if any. And guess Crosshair really had trusted his family all along despite his thoughts before, when serving the Empire.
But the rest of it? Well, that was going to take some time, but the path was clear and the steps simply needed to be taken. Baby steps.
Life on Pabu certainly having settled to a new normal for the whole family with Echo still taking to trips with Rex and his Rebels, but getting back whenever he could, more often than not these days.
Tech having been found as well and now the Genius being on the mend among so many other clones residing on Pabu.
Crosshair too, having suffered. His hand just but one of the things he had lost during the fight against the Empire.
Hunter.
The love they had once shard the bigger one to perhaps never to be back gained again? Crosshair could not be sure.
But then again, they had emerged out of Tantiss. Fighting side by side to save the one whom meant the world to them both.
Omega.
And right now, Hunter could not love Crosshair more than he ever perhaps had done.
So it was, another rest filled eve, the rest of the family having gone to sleep, when Hunter emerged from the shadows.
“Cross.” The coarse whisper rousing Crosshair from his thoughts, the former Sniper having been sitting deep in thought on the porch of their new home.
“Hunter.” A greeting if any.
Hunter taking the seat right next to Crosshair, the nightly sky filled with stars above them pretty making the scene most perfect for lovers. Alas, that all remained to be seen.
“I um… was going to ask you something.”
“Oh, what is it Hunter?”
It was a surprise even if the two had regained some semblance to their relationship, not exactly having discussed their situation all that much, but Hunter had gained some idea of what had happened to Crosshair. And a permanent truce was in place.
“I thought… well, maybe you could… move in with me? To my room?”
The invite was a surprise for sure.
Crosshair having shared a room on a cot in Omega’s room as the house extension to their ever growing family was still under works for most part.
“You sure about that, Hunter? I mean my cot is just fine in Omega’s room as it is.”
“I… wasn’t talking about the cot, Cross…”
“Oh?”
Oh!
Hunter had made an offer. For sharing his bed with Crosshair.
The silence fell over them both for a long moment before either of them spoke again.
This was all still new, despite being old and guess, a lot having happened between them hung like a dark cloud… or then not? Because Hunter was willing.
“I thought… well, that we could, you know, pick where we left off?” Hunter really was willing, that much was true, only he wasn’t as sure about Crosshair any more. “For sleep.”
Crosshair was thinking about the offer for a spell and then, seeing the fidgeting Hunter, the doubt clearly filling his thoughts. And Crosshair did not want that at all.
“I accept, Hunter.”
It was really an easy choice to make, the feelings were still all there, for them both.
“For sleep.” Crosshair added, after all, baby steps was key here.
