Chapter Text
Today was easily one of the hottest days Konoha had seen since the start of summer so of course that meant the three little shits he was stuck watching wanted to play with their new water guns, and obviously they chose the beach to do so cause why wouldn’t they. What psychopath even buys 6 year olds water guns?
Kakashi.
It’s always Kakashi.
The same man who bought Naruto a drum set for his 5th birthday and gave Itachi firecrackers for his 11th.
Shisui exhaled and stared down at the kids' water guns in his hands because lord knew none of them could be trusted with them until they actually made it to the beach. Kakashi did choose pretty well, if you ignore the fact that Sakura’s gun is almost as big as her, Sasuke’s is stronger than anything a 6 year old should be trusted with, (he knew from the times Sasuke had used him for target practice) and Naruto’s has such a far range that no one would feel safe with it in his hands
Currently, the little demons were lounging about in the living room. Sakura was coloring on the table while Naruto was blabbering to her about whatever crossed his little mind. Sasuke was failing to hide a water balloon behind his back and Shisui could only pray it was intended for Itachi rather than him.
Itachi was taking his sweet time getting ready. Probably being responsible and bringing sunscreen and stuff. Why bother with anything more than an umbrella and a few towels? Honestly, they should’ve left 20 minutes ago, not to mention the fact it’s only going to get hotter outside and he doesn’t even want to imagine how packed the beach will be come noon.
Just as Shisui was about to call up the stairs to Itachi, he came stumbling down with a larger than necessary beach bag, his low ponytail swaying behind him as caught himself.
“Took your sweet time didn’t you?” Shisui jested while taking a closer look at the contents in the bag. Blankets, sandwiches (probably prepared by Mikoto), beach toys, and whatever else was hidden under the extra towels
“Isn’t this a little bit…extra, ‘tachi?”
Itachi smacked Shisui’s hand away from the bag. “I want to be prepared. Besides, do you truly expect Obito and Kakashi to have brought anything of importance?” He said while taking the kids water guns and placing them in the bag.
Shisui sighed, “They better have at least remembered to bring the cooler.” A playful grin crept onto his lips, “and a bit of extra cash”.
Just as Itachi was about to chide him, a water balloon made its way through the air skimming Shisui’s nose.
The boy turned himself sharply towards the attacker before lunging and dangling him in the air by his scruff.
“What the hell Sasu-chan?! Attacking your favorite cousin now are we?”
Sasuke stuck his tongue out tauntingly at his cousin before waving his hand around in the air. At his signal, Naruto tackled Shisui to the floor, mustering what little strength his 6 year old body had in all his hits. Sakura stared quietly at the fight in front of her, amused and holding back her giggles.
Itachi chuckled low under his breath as Sasuke continued poking fun at the defeated man. He moved to clean the mess left behind from the water balloon before reassembling order amongst the family.
He deliberately took his time, just the idea of Shisui losing to two little boys made him cackle internally.
Damn it.
If only he had his camera.
Once the water was dried up and the balloon scraps tossed, Itachi turned his attention to the pinkette feigning innocence. She obviously helped the two boys in their plot, he knew first hand from mediating their constant bickering that there was no way either of them could coordinate without fighting each other.
He watched Sakura shrink under his gaze, before looking up at him like Shisui wasn’t crying for help on the floor right beside her feet.
How adorable.
No wonder Kakashi spoils her.
“Would you like some help, Itachi-nii?” she asked, her bright green guilty orbs shining up at him, ignoring Sasuke getting in position to elbow drop Shisui from atop the couch.
Itachi smiled softly at the girl before turning his gaze to the brawl just a few feet away from him. “I think there’s someone else we should be helping right now”.
After a few minutes of them staring at the wreck of bodies, notably doing nothing, Shisui eventually ended the fight by pinning both boys to his sides.
“Surrender you brats! Or are we too ferocious to go to the beach?”
Sasuke tried shoving Shisui’s arm down while Naruto tried wiggling out of his grasp, failing, and then flopping his legs around on the floor. When Sakura suddenly burst out laughing, the two juveniles both glared sharply at her.
“Oi, Sakura-chan what the hell?! You said you were gonna help us!”
Shisui lightly banged his head against Naruto’s, resulting in a heavy grunt from the boy. “No cursing you brat”
As the blonde and eldest continued bickering, Sasuke continued staring daggers at the girl in front of him, but she quickly averted her gaze over to Itachi.
“They’re lying, I tried talking them out of it! Really! I tried to tell them what a terrible idea it was!”
“She’s lying!” He said accusingly, his gaze flickering between his brother and Sakura, “You said you were going to get his legs!”
Itachi looked up and stared blankly at the ceiling wondering if he would have to intervene with the two ongoing arguments taking place in his living room. He inhaled sharply, finally deciding the noise was becoming too much for his already over-exhausted brain.
“If you guys keep arguing like this we can always go to the beach another day” he stated firmly.
“Eh?! No fair Itachi-nii you guys promised!”
Sasuke huffed in agreement with his friend while Sakura looked at him slightly panicked.
Shisui snorted, trying not to laugh at Itachi’s affirmation, but how can you blame him? His cousin was so adorable when he tried being all grown up and mature.
There was also the fact that he was almost positive Itachi wouldn’t be able to follow through with his threat, both of them had been looking forward to a day at the beach without the adult supervision. (Technically Obito and Kakashi would be there but did they really count as adults?)
After a few more complaints from the three (four if you include Shisui adding fuel to the trio of fire), Itachi finally got everyone settled into the car and ready to leave.
Shisui walked out the front door last waving his car keys around and practically skipped to the vehicle. Once in, he made it very clear that if the two boys seated in the back argued, he would grab Sakura and leave them to crash into a tree, resulting in him getting scolded by Itachi.
After a short “friendly disagreement”, they were finally able to get on the road.

Shisui slapped Itachi's hand away from the radio for at least the fifth time since the start of the trip.
“Hey, watch it. Driver decides”.
After being thwarted, Itachi silently exhaled and rolled his eyes, trying to distract himself from the monstrosity assaulting his ears.
“Then maybe the driver should play better music.”
At that, Shisui’s hand shot from the wheel to the radio, slowly raising the volume up higher.
Just as Itachi was contemplating jumping out the car, he was saved by an incoming call from Kakashi. Itachi moved to grab the cell when Shisui tried protesting.
“Oh come on! Make them wait a little bit, Kakashi never answers his phone on the first ring!”
Itachi sighed, his cousin wasn’t exactly wrong, and he did like pushing Kakashi’s patience, but at this point he would do anything to take a break from Shisui’s vile excuse for a playlist.
“If we have to call back, Kakashi likely won’t answer. Besides, we should make sure they didn’t forget the cooler” he argued.
Shisui grunted but didn’t deny him, “Yeah whatever, but make it quick”.
Once the phone was answered, Kakashi casually greeted the group in the car with Obito’s voice trailing off in the back.
“Hi Kakashi-nii!” The three exclaimed from the back upon hearing his voice.
“Oi, I’m here too you know!” Obito scoffed and then, in an audible whisper, “brats”.
Shisui chucked, “They hate you Obito-senpai. Really thought you’d get it by now”
Kakashi cut off whatever Obito was about to say and turned his attention back to the call, “I take it the kids aren’t causing any trouble?”
“Not if you count them trying to kill Shisui earlier”.
Shisui moved to smack the grin off Itachi’s face but failed and quickly returned it back to the steering wheel whilst the children in the back burst out laughing while taunting him, to which Shisui stuck his tongue out to the group. He glanced up at the trio through the rear view mirror.
“Maybe don’t instigate the driver. I wouldn’t wanna do anything reckless with my three favorite fiends in the back”.
He could see Itachi’s glare from the corner of his eye and immediately interpreted it. ‘Are you really getting riled up by a few kids?’ Shisui wanted to argue that they weren’t kids, they were demons, but Kakashi's cough signaled back their attention.
Quick to change the subject, Shisui reminded the two adults on the other side of the phone to make sure they brought the one thing they were responsible for.
“Maa, you think that lowly of us, do you? Of course we have the cooler with us”.
Kakashi quickly nudged Obito’s shoulder, silently urging him to check. Itachi and Shisui looked at each other with knowing eyes at their seniors’ obvious negligence.
Obito turned back to the front with a thumbs up and a wide grin, he leaned over towards the phone’s speaker, “The cooler is in the back right now! Have some faith, would ya?”
The phone call eventually turned into Shisui and Itachi going back and forth with them about responsibility. It soon turned into everyone, including Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura ganging up on Shisui who was suppressing the urge to drive them off a cliff and into a river.

They arrived at the beach just short of lunch time. Much to Shisui’s delight, the beach wasn’t as crowded as he was expecting it to be. The five sat in the car, waiting for the last two members to arrive. They allowed the kids to ramble on about everything they couldn’t wait to do and argue over who would win in their long awaited water gun fight.
Naruto peered over at the boardwalk, a stall with a giant sign drew his attention.
What did that huge sign say? ‘I - C - E - C- R- E - A - M’ Oh! Ice cream!
“Shisui-nii, Itachi-nii, can we get ice cream?” Naruto pointed to the vendor “Pleaseeeeee”
Sakura turned to where Naruto was pointing and immediately gave the teens her irresistible puppy dog eyes.
Shisui also turned to look at Itachi as if he needed his younger cousin's approval to do anything.
Itachi hesitated before giving in to the expecting stares coming from what seemed to be every direction.
“Fine, but don’t spoil your lunch”.
“Thank you Itachi-nii! You’re the best!” Exclaimed a grateful Naruto and Sakura.
Naruto turned to look opposite of the car.
“Sasuke?” Asked a confused Naruto.
Sasuke grunted and looked away. His disliking towards sweets seemed to be forgotten.
“Come on Teme!” Naruto raised his hand to grab the boy when he gave him one of those ‘I dare you’ stares, ending his attempt.
Sakura then decided it was her try to persuade their stubborn friend, she gave him the same look she gave Itachi.
“Pretty please Sasuke”.
Sasuke managed to hold his glare at her for 5 seconds before giving in, his ears which slowly turned pink didn’t go unnoticed by the boy sitting shotgun.

They sat down at a table near the stall overlooking the beach, a giant umbrella protecting them from the blazing sun.
They kept the beach bag safely under the table while they conversed and indulged in their pre-lunch dessert.
Naruto was gobbling down Cookie Monster and cotton candy scoops, while Sakura settled for a basic strawberry flavor. Sasuke took his time contemplating until Sakura suggested he get matcha, hence the green substance sticking to his face. Itachi had ordered black cherry and was eating it neatly. Sasuke looked at him, wiped his face, and tried copying his brother's mannerisms. Shisui had sampled nearly every flavor but found himself stuck between rocky road and double fudge chocolate chip. After irritating the owner, he settled for the former.
As they were finishing their ice cream, Naruto pointed out the white car pulling in.
‘Finally. And only 45 minutes late.’ Though by now, they were all more than used to Kakashi and Obito’s horrible time management and punctuality. Eventually, they came to realize that they were more than likely doing it on purpose.
Kakashi walked up to the group first, still wearing that damn mask. In this weather? Really?
“Eating ice cream for lunch are we?”
Obito walked behind him and gave a disappointed look towards the teenagers in charge. Of course Itachi’s sweet tooth had gotten the better of him.
Kakashi walked towards Naruto, his ice cream of choice was a little too childish and sweet for his liking but he enjoyed the fun in annoying his pseudo brother.
“Care to share, Naruto?”
As a response, the blonde bore his teeth and gave a growl similar to the one his dogs made when he tried taking their toys. Kakashi found himself amused at the accuracy of his comparison.
“You can have some of mine, Kakashi-nii!” Said the girl whose hair matched her ice cream, she turned towards the brooding man further back. “You too Obito-nii!” Not forgetting him.
“Thank you Sakura-chan, it's nice to know someone cares about me,” Obito said with a false pout. Kakashi rolled his eyes at him and turned towards the adorable little angel holding her ice cream up high for him.
He should really buy her a pony or something.
He gave her one of those eye smiles and then stepped forward to pat her head, “I’m alright, Sakura-chan. You enjoy it”.
Shisui tilted his head to the side, a smirk growing on his face.
“Playing favorites now, Hatake?”
“Of course not,” waving him off with a hand. “As a matter of fact, why don’t you share yours?”
Shisui’s smirk dropped and his hand immediately shot up to defend his precious ice cream from the feral wolf before him. As Kakashi took another step towards him, Shisui stood up carefully.
Eventually the two were chasing each other around the parking lot, Shisui was shrieking as he ran, more from the fear of dropping his ice cream than actually getting caught. He was simply too fast for the man.
Obito sighed and then turned towards Itachi. The only mature one of the group it seemed, “Let’s go set up on the beach”
“Should we do something about them first?” He questioned, his head angled to the chase in the lot.
Obito pondered carefully, although the answer seemed obvious. “Nah, let them wear each other down a bit”.
Itachi nodded in understanding and then turned towards the children enjoying their treat in rare silence.
“Maybe we should do the same for them.”
All three paused from their bites and stared at him with the cutest attempt of intimidation he had seen.
____________________________
Naruto and Sasuke had challenged each other to see who could find a better spot on the beach. To piss the boys off, the adults(+Shisui and Itachi) settled for the spot Sakura had chosen. After, the twin demons attempted a very uncoordinated and unthought out plan to attack them. Unfortunately what was left of Sakura’s ice cream had ended up in the sand as collateral.
So now, they had to stop a very upset Sakura from maybe drowning the two boys.
They decided to split them up for a bit until they had eventually forgotten what happened.
____________________________
Itachi and Shisui were watching Naruto and Sasuke obliterate each other with their new weapons, occasionally getting hit from the crossfire (Shisui more so but it definitely wasn’t an accident).
Kakashi was lying down on one of the towels with his book over his eyes, presumably sleeping.
Obito leaned towards Sakura,“You alright kiddo?” He handed the girl a cold juice box and then took a seat beside her on the sand. She had taken a break from collecting sea shells to hide under the umbrella and read her book.
She paused in the middle of the sentence she was currently reading and gratefully took the offered drink. “I’m fine,” she yawned and rubbed at her eyes. “Tired,” she mumbled through another yawn.
Obito smiled at her and combed the back of her hair.
“You can take a nap if you’d like. We’ve still got a lot of time here,” He slowly stood up, then looked back at her, his grin widening. “I’ll be sure to wake you up before lunch time, don't worry!”
Sakura gave him her thanks then leaned back to close her eyes. Obito looked down at her before looking at his family out on the waves. When he looked back to Sakura he noticed her form slowly creeping over to Kakashi and before he knew it, she was snuggled comfortably in his side.
Awwwww.
No wonder Kakashi spoils her. (It was a fact, everyone knew it and Kakashi had yet to deny it)

The water gun fight had turned into a chicken fight on water. Naruto was sitting on Shisui’s shoulders while Sasuke was on Itachi’s. The boys were kicking and punching each other from the top of their human perches while the teens were shooting each other with the water guns.
“Come on Shisui-nii! You have to move closer!”
“Big brother! What are you doing? Shoot Naruto!”
Shisui was trying to block another shot from Itachi, which was hard because of the boy on his back. Why did Sasuke’s water gun have to be so damn strong?! Stupid Kakashi!
The smile coming from Itachi showed that he was having too much fun shooting at his cousin. Sasuke’s laughter from on his shoulders seemed to be contagious.
Shisui was almost positive his chest was bruising from the force of the water, so against his pride, he decided to stop things before he could maybe start bleeding.
“I surrender! Please! Mercy I beg!”
“What do you mean you surrender? Shisui-nii we can’t lose like this!”
As Naruto started kicking at Shisui, Shisui let his body fall backwards taking both of them under the water. Sasuke held slightly tighter into Itachi just in case his brother gave him the same treatment.
Naruto was clinging to Shisui’s neck practically choking him, “Something just touched my leg! What if it was an oct-y-pas?!”
Naruto, with his fierce determination, released Shisui’s neck and dove back down into the water. Shisui, upon catching his breath, immediately grabbed the boy and yanked him back up to the surface.
“What are you doing Naruto! Are you trying to drown yourself!?”
Naruto tried breaking out of Shisui’s grip, "I'm gonna go fight it!”
Shisui flicked the side of his head, “You’re not fighting anything and that was me who touched your leg!”.
Itachi strengthened his grip on Sasuke’s leg, Sasuke was smart enough to not drown himself. Maybe.
Itachi looked up to meet his younger brother's eyes when he heard his stomach growl, Itachi giggled at his brother’s embarrassment and turned to the two fighting across from him.
“Perhaps it’s time for lunch”
Shisui scoffed at him, “It’s been time for lunch,” he pointed at Itachi. “You’re the one who let them spoil their appetite with ice cream”.
“Nothing wrong with a sweet treat in this temperature”.
Shisui rolled his eyes. Itachi and that damn sweet tooth.

As they gathered the boys to shore with their water guns, they made their way towards the umbrella and found a sleeping Kakashi with a sleeping Sakura tucked under his arm. Obito was nearby digging a…hole?
No one really questioned it but it was pretty odd, even for Obito.
Itachi helped wrap the boys in their towels while Shisui went to get the sandwiches. At the ruckus, Kakashi slowly woke up which caused Sakura to wake when her pillow began moving. The girl sat up, scrubbed the drowsiness from her eyes and blinked her senses to life. She turned to Obito who was slowly making his way towards her.
“Is it time for lunch?” She asked, still slightly unaware of her surroundings.
Obito rested his hand on top of her head, “Looks like it kiddo. What do you want, ham and cheese or peanut butter?”
Sakura looked at him, still partly asleep and leaned back against Kakashi. “I don’t know”, she mumbled.
Naruto waddled his way over Sakura carrying a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for her. She accepted it and mindlessly started nibbling at it. Kakashi reopened his book and started scanning the words. Sakura leaned in closer, trying to finally see what he found so engaging about a book so secretive. Kakashi glanced at the girl and booped her nose with the book. Sasuke came sneaking in from behind and snatched the book from Kakashi’s hand, only for it to immediately be yanked away from a disappointed Itachi.
“Seriously Senpai? You brought this?”
“Maa, it's well written literature. How could I possibly let it waste away on a bookshelf on a day like this?”
Naruto was staring intently at the book like a predator getting ready to pounce on its prey, sensing this, Obito grabbed him as he jumped for the book and flipped him over his shoulder.
“Eat your lunch brats, though I suppose it’s not your fault cause someone,” he glared at Shisui and Itachi, “let you eat ice cream at 11 o’clock”
Shisui stuck his tongue out at him and took a bite out of his sandwich.
“Hey Naruto and Sasuke dropped my ice cream earlier!”
Kakashi turned the girls attention back to her food, “Don’t worry Sakura-chan, I’ll buy you another one later”
Sakura immediately perked up and happily nodded.
Obito sat down beside Naruto and pulled the boy into his lap. He pointed over to the large waves forming down the beach.
“Think I can ride that wave?”
Naruto nodded excitedly, Obito-nii was so cool!
Shisui however, laughed at him, “Rin’s a much better surfer than you, Senpai,” he tilted his head tauntingly, “Maybe she outta teach you a few tricks”.
Naruto blew a raspberry at him while Obito moved his head back and forth, opening his mouth mockingly.
“I miss Rin-nee,” Sasuke pouted. Sakura nodded in agreement between her bites.
“Hospitals are busy, we’ll bring her next time.” Kakashi said with a wink.

After they finished eating, the children started a contest to see who could build a better sand castle. Kakashi started assisting Sakura, forcing Itachi and Obito to help Sasuke and Naruto. Shisui had gone somewhere and the adults mentally decided they would care if he was still missing after 5 more minutes.
Sakura was putting her collected sea shells to work. The walls of her castle were covered in them and they sparkled in the sunlight much to her delight. With Kakashi’s help, her castle was large and stood strong with towers surrounding them at Sakura’s insistence, claiming “Where else is the princess supposed to go?” Kakashi immediately began wondering what the hell she was talking about and who was locking princesses in towers.
Sasuke and Itachi’s sand castle, if you could call it that, looked more like it was based on the Uchiha Compound. Itachi had snagged Kakashi’s pocket knife from his bag (no one really knew when or how) and was using it with intense precision to carve the Uchiha symbol into the walls. Sasuke was fetching more water for him to use, and was gifted a sea shell from Sakura which looked very similar to an uchiwa fan.
Naruto and Obito were…doing something. Their sand castle was more like a pile of wet sand with no form. The only details were the seaweed tossed onto it by Naruto. Obito was trying his hardest to fix it before the kids decided to start judging, and Naruto was severely overconfident in their work. Obito’s attempt to negotiate with Sakura was immediately shot down by Kakashi and the two started an argument.
Just as the kids and Itachi were getting tired of the noise, the missing Uchiha finally graced his presence and entered on top of a jetski.
“Shisui…what the fuck.”
Shisui leaped off the jet ski and ran towards the group, he flicked an object towards him. Kakashi stared blankly at what he identified as his credit card. There was no trace of emotion and he, scarily, hadn’t said anything yet.
“Woah Shisui-nii, what is that? It looks so cool!”
“Who would ever trust you, with a jetski?”
Naruto looked at Sasuke confused, “A what?”
“Shut up dobe”
Itachi stepped in and used his body as a wall between the two boys while Obito was cackling in the back at Kakashi’s inner turmoil.
“Shisui, is this what you ran off to do?” Itachi asked, growing in concern for his cousin's fate. If Kakashi didn’t kill him, he was nearly certain Kushina-san and Kaasan would. If they got Rin involved, his body may never be found.
Sakura stepped forward, her tiny hand tugging on Shisui’s finger. She just stared at him, expecting him to explain why Itachi was nervous, why Obito sounded like a hyena, and why Kakashi was silently planning to murder him.
Shisui crouched down to her level, “Well Sakura-chan, I figured us grownups deserved it. Besides, auntie and uncle would never approve of it if they were here, which makes it all the more fun!” He ended with a bright smile flashing his teeth and Sakura couldn’t help but wonder if what he did was stupid or genius.
He sprouted back to his feet, a smile still coating his face.
“Your jetskis are over by the dock!” He ducked to the side to avoid an incoming sea shell thrown by Kakashi. “Don’t forget your life jackets!” He sang whilst spinning and running back to the ocean before Kakashi could actually murder him.
Seeing Kakashi’s ire, Itachi slowly started moving the stolen pocket knife securely into his own pocket. If something happened out in the ocean, Shisui’s body would likely never be found. A fact he learnt from Kakashi himself.
Obito somehow began laughing louder while holding his stomach, it wouldn’t be surprising if people were staring and hiding their kids. He fell to the floor and began wiping tears from his eyes. He looked up at Kakashi, threatening to laugh again.
“Did you hear that Bakashi!? ‘Number One’ detective my ass! Couldn’t even realize your card was missing!”
Naruto was still confused, his little six year old mind was naturally still stuck on his sand castle so he began asking questions.
Sakura pulled Sasuke and Naruto and whispered in their ears, “I think Shisui-nii stole Kakashi-nii’s card and bought something”, resulting in understanding “ohhhhhs” from the boys.
After the kids stopped trying to kill each other, Itachi gave the two adults the same treatment. Itachi slapped Obito’s hand out of the air that he was using to literally point fun at Kakashi.
He turned to the man still in a state of disbelief, growing slightly more concerned. “Senpai, please don’t kill him.”
Kakashi blinked his emotions away and raised his hand up like he does in any casual situation.
“Maa, don’t worry so much. I'm not gonna kill him”. He gave his signature eye smile with a hint of revenge and mischief behind it
“I’m just gonna make him do the entire filing room at the station and take on every single DUI and shoplifting case”.
Kakashi really couldn’t care less about his money getting spent. He pretty much told Shisui and Itachi the pin and numbers once they started working in the force. After his father passed, he was literally left behind all the assets belonging of the Hatake clan. So yea, he had lots of money to spend on his loved ones and literally didn’t care how that money was spent. So long as he had enough for rent and his books, he was fine.
It was more the fact that he wasn’t aware it was missing and also because Rin would kill them if she knew what Shisui did.
When he and Obito were the idiotic teenagers they still kinda are, Rin had given them a major lecture about how “jetskis are giant death traps!” And “Do you know how many people come into the hospital from being stupid on jetskis!?”
It probably was because he and Obito were being idiots on the jetski, but the lecture always stuck, along with her vivid description of cuts and fractions she’s had to take care of. Kakashi felt a shiver in his spine at the memory.
____________________________
As the dust settled and Obito finally stopped laughing, the kids began judging whose sand castle was better but being themselves they thought their own was the best. Naruto automatically lost no matter what anyone tried to say, so it was really between Sasuke and Sakura.
“Why don’t we wait for Shisui to come back? He’ll be neutral and fair” suggested Kakashi, who had just placed his card all the way at the bottom of his bag secured in his wallet. ‘Now to find that pocket knife…’
As if being summoned Shisui came running back to shore with slight sunburn on his nose, it was clear he was having too much fun unsupervised, if the grin said anything.
“What’s taking you guys so long?”
Obito took a final sip out of his soda and chucked it at Shisui
“Hey! What’s with you guys and throwing stuff at me today?”
“We were waiting for you. You have to rate the kids’ sand castles”
Shisui went to the cooler and opened himself a nice cold Coke before actually looking at the creations.
He looked at the one and only actual sand castle. It was decorated beautifully and well made: Sakura, with the help of Kakashi (Honestly any of the adults could’ve helped her but Kakashi was probably playing favorites)
The second one he saw was clearly meant to be the Uchiha compound and it had Itachi’s hand written all over it. It did look pretty good, he had to admit. Which was surprising because the entire thing was obviously Sasuke's idea.
He glanced around the site and then leaned to look behind the cooler, but to no avail could he find the third one.
“Okay, where am I supposed to be looking?”
Obito sighed and pointed towards the pile of sand with a sea shell sticking out and sea weed wrapped around it which appeared to be sliding off.
Shisui looked at it only sparing one glance.
“Well that one’s definitely not winning”
Naruto immediately lunged for his legs but was scooped up by Kakashi and flipped over his shoulder.
Shisui sighed, genuinely unsure of who the winner should be. After a few moments, he decided the loser should be someone less likely to attack him when they lost
“Fine, Sasuke wins”
Sakura immediately poured while Sasuke smiled in triumph.
”No fair! You’re only saying him cause you're an Uchiha!”
“Fine you both win, okay?”
Sakura smiled and jumped to Kakashi while Sasuke pouted and defended his build.
“Now c’mon you guys! Let’s hit the jetskis that Senpai graciously paid for!” He dodged another empty can coming at him. “You can even bring your water guns! Sakura-chan hasn’t had the chance to use hers yet”.
When Shisui tried to flee back to the water, Obito grabbed his wrist and dragged him back, “Only after you and the kids reapply your sunscreen”
Shisui broke out of his grasp and crossed his arms. “Tch, I don’t need sunscreen. Some people actually like a tan and don’t wanna walk around like a ghost.”
“Shisui, if you don’t put on sunscreen I’m throwing you into the hole”
Shisui looked at him with his eyebrow raised, as if he dared him to try it.
____________________________
After being held down by 3 tiny gremlins and a wolf, Shisui was buried underneath the sand with a very unpleasant expression while his cousin forcefully applied sunscreen to his face.
“Should've just put your sunscreen on”. Obito tapped his nose with the bottle and then turned to the kids sipping on the sodas that they probably shouldn’t be drinking.
“Alright, who's next for sunscreen?!”
Naruto and Sasuke immediately tried running away only to be stopped by Itachi and Kakashi. Knowing Naruto would be the trickier one, Obito tossed Kakashi the bottle first.
Naruto had to be held in place, and attempted to bite Obito in the process. He fought his hardest but still was lathered in sunscreen by Kakashi.
Once finished, Obito caught his breath and released him.
He flicked the blonde on the ear, “What do you gain from fighting back? It’s sunscreen. It’s supposed to help you.”
Kakashi passed Itachi the bottle after he used his older brother's magic to talk Sasuke into it. He didn’t even have to threaten him or restrain him! Why couldn’t he and Obito have gotten that power?
Sakura ran up to Kakashi holding the extra bottle Itachi had packed, she held it with her hands up making it easier for Kakashi to grab.
“Aniki, I’m ready for sunscreen”
Kakashi smiled, grateful that at least one of his kids wouldn’t put up a fight.
Both Sakura and Sasuke were having their sunscreen applied when Shisui suddenly realized he was actually stuck. At first, he kinda let himself get in as a joke but why was the sand so hard to get out of? Bored, and thirsty, his eyes landed on his abandoned soda can.
“Oi, Naruto. I’ll give you 5 bucks if you get me my soda”
When Naruto got up, he was stopped by Kakashi.
“I’ll buy you ramen if you don’t”
Naruto slowly eased back into his seat, “Sorry Shisui-nii!” He said, lifting one arm to scratch the back of his head.
A laugh came from Sasuke and then like dominos falling, Sakura began giggling quietly.
____________________________
Once everyone had come to agree that Shisui’s punishment was over, they helped him out of the pit and let him finish applying his sunscreen. Shisui got onto his jetski and then instructed them to meet him by the docks.
When they arrived, they found 3 jetskis waiting for them. The owner helped the kids get into proper life jackets and gave the grown ups(+ Itachi) strict rules to keep them safe. Basically just keep them secure at the front and drive slow so they don’t hit their head on the handlebars.
Kakashi helped Sakura get on with him and Itachi helped Sasuke. Obito had to fight with Naruto over nothing to get him on, but eventually they were ready. Shisui was taking advantage of the fact he could go however fast he wanted, of course he kept it a safe speed with the kids involved, but he would occasionally drift to splash the group with water.
Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura tried to get him with their water guns, but his speed was uncompromising.
After they made it a comfortable distance away from the beach, the taunts and shooting began. After getting splashed one too many times, the kids didn’t even try shooting each other. They all immediately set their sights on Shisui who was maneuvering across the water's surface to avoid getting hit. Kakashi, Obito, and Itachi helped them with their aim to the point where Shisui was actually struggling to avoid them.
Naruto(Obito) had accidentally hit Kakashi, making him “accidentally” hit him in turn. Feeling left out, Sasuke started shooting both of them.
Their hunt on Shisui turned into them spraying each other while Shisui was having the time of his life seeing the bigger passengers take the brunt of each attack.
Their game continued, but at some point Obito had jumped into the water, snuck up behind Itachi and yanked him down.
“Big brother no!” Sasuke then began pelting Obito with shots from his gun making him take refuge under the water for safety.
“Is that a shark?” Asked Kakashi, trying to cause more chaos. Sakura, immediately caught on and started playing along.
“I see! It’s right there!” She yelled, pointing at nothing. Of course her acting was enough to actually scare the men in the water and the two boys stuck on the jetskis alone.
After racing back on to safety, they began looking frantically at the water trying to find it. Even Shisui began silently growing concerned.
That was, until Sakura and Kakashi began laughing at the group’s idiocy, making them the targets for their water guns and for Shisui to target with his jetski.
After a while, their skin began reflecting orange along with the water, and they began to fall into their exhaustion. They sat for a while, not arguing or fighting, just watching the sunset and reminiscing about random memories to keep themselves entertained.
Obito, annoyed that another one of Kakashi’s stories was basically just making fun of him, turned back towards the beach. He noticed most had already left and the others were packing up.
“Maybe it’s time to leave”.
“I don’t wanna leave yet” Naruto said, followed by a yawn. More of his weight began leaning into Obito.
“Can we do this again?” Asked Sasuke who only received a forehead tap from his brother and a silent “Maybe”.
Sakura looked up at Kakashi and he could only pat her head in return.
“We‘ll see. Just promise not to tell your parents or Rin about the jet skis”.
