Summary:

Sam and Herman have been friends for over half of both their lives. They’re each other’s self-proclaimed best friends, hang out on the weekly, play the same instrument, enjoy the same music and games- textbook definition of “best friends”.

Except, as Sam realizes, when you’ve known and loved someone for years and years, the love begins to run deeper than a simple friendship.

Meanwhile, Herman struggles with how to accept his identity he didn’t expect.

Notes:

Hello there! Welcome or welcome back. Before we begin I just wanna start off by saying- I have nothing but respect for the people I'm writing about, and I don't at all think this is an accurate representation of them in any way. It's just some bad fanfiction. Nothing "they say" here is reflective of their true opinions and feelings. Like I said. Fiction. And don't take any of this as me saying, bother them about this and send this fic to them. The golden rule of RPF is keep it private. I do not condone any kind of harassment towards ANYONE at all, INCLUDING talking poorly to or about the real people's partners. If you do think that their real life partners are "getting in the way of the ship", maybe take a step back and think about what fanfiction really should mean and do for you. Thank you very much.

Secondly, I update like a cryptid! I will push like three chapters out in a month and I'm suddenly gone again for half a year. Also, any kinds of suggestions, comments, or kudos are highly appreciated. I wish I could describe the look of pure joy on my face when I see that "You've got kudos" email. But you're free to hate this fic. I don't care. Do whatya want. But either way.. enjoy my work ;)

Update 2: The summary is subject to change as i write more and more. I’ll probably get better ideas how to word it.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

A peaceful quiet hung in the chilly air. A light frost clung onto the railing of the balcony, moonlight reflecting off of it like streetlights. Sam shivered at a harsh gust of frigid air. Herman leaned over to wrap an arm around him. Immediately he tensed up, followed quickly by a twinge of guilt. Why's he still so jumpy around him? Shouldn't earlier have been a confirmation? He shifted his gaze down to the street and parking lot out below. Dew was beginning to cling to the grass, shiny like snow under starlight. Surprising Sam, he could see hints of light peaking up over the horizon. No way they'd been up that long. Wasn't it just midnight?

Evidently, Herman noticed too. He laughed under his breath. "Guess we're early birds now."  He commented. Sam smiled. "Sure. I'll be tired as hell tomorrow.." He muttered. Herman nodded. "Me. Too." He paused. "Either way. I'm going back to sleep now. C'mon."  Sam shook his head. "No, I, uh, I'm gonna stay out for a little longer. Herman raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "Suit yourself. G'night!"

"Hey?"

"Yeah?"

"..I love you."

"Yeah, love you too, man."

Sam quietly leaned down and put his head in his hand and sighed heavily.
