Work Text:

"Chro, when can I take this blindfold off?"

"We're almost there, Minnie, just be patient..."

The majik led his human through a forest devoid of life and community, oblivious to the surprise he had prepared for her. Minutes before, Chrono had told her he had something to show her, insisting she stated blindfolded until they arrived. Minerva could tell they had left the Chronostasis and were most likely on some kind of island, but knew nothing aside from that.

"Okay, we're here." Chro assured in his cool, consistent voice that he always maintained, just one of the many things Minnie adored about her boyfriend. "You can take it off now."

As Minnie untied her blindfold, she peered upon a hollow within the forest, so dark that the only thing she could decipher was the shape of the trees, creating a sort of dome to form a circular opening. She then stared at Chro, who took a step towards the hollow.

"Rewind."

As the words escaped the majiks mouth, previously obscured candles all around the hollow illuminated a bed of poppies with a table resting on top of it. A well prepared dinner laid on the table as well as two chairs on opposite sides, waiting to be occupied by the two lovers. Minnie gasped at the sight of it, it was nothing short of beautiful. Aside from the stunning sight of the candle-lighting complementing the poppies, she was taken aback by the amount of effort that had been put into everything. "Wh- when did you..."

Chro smiled softly at the amount of awe on Minnie's face. "I've been planning this for quite a while, I know how much you love poppies, and once I found this island I thought that you deserved something special..." The more he continued his sentence, the more flushed his face became until he turned away from his girlfriend in embarrassment.

"Oh, Chro, I- I don't know what to say!" She pulled the taller figures face down to match her level and brushed her lips against his, seeming to calm him down. "Thank you for all of this, Chro. I love you so, so much."

Chro held out his hand, an invitation for his girlfriend to take it, which she gratefully accepted. "I love you too, Minnie." Hand in hand, they approached the table and took their places. He gestured for Minnie to try out the steak he had prepared, and as it entered her mouth, she felt an explosion of flavour make contact with her taste buds. Despite not needing to eat, his cooking was nothing short of astounding.

"Chro, this is amazing!", Minerva exclaimed her eyes looking straight at her boyfriend.

Chro had a surprised look on his face, he didn't expect such an exaggerated reaction just from his cooking. "Well, I felt bad about how you always cooked and did things for me, so I thought I'd pay more attention your cooking and learn how to do it myself." The Chronoweaver Majik attempted to keep his level headed demeanor and calm disposition, but couldn't hide how happy he was that his attempt at making the love of his life happy had been more than successful.

This wasnt all that big if a gesture for Chro, but for Minnie, this meant everything. "Oh, Chro, I- This whole thing is-" Minnie burst into tears, not knowing how to describe how she felt.

Throughout her entire life, no one had ever treated her like this, had never taken cared about her like this. Sure, the people in her home village seemed to like her cooking, but aside from that, there wasn't much other evidence to show that they cared about her, and them sending her off to be sacrificed while barely even thinking twice about it was the nail in the coffin. It was only when Chro entered her like did she truly feel like she knew what love meant, he understood her in a way no one had, he worried about her the way no one else had before, she knew that she would die long before he would, but for now, the only thing she wanted was to spend the rest of her life with him.

"Minne, is something the matter?" Chro questioned with a tinge of worry in his voice.

"No, I'm just so happy...", While equal amounts of tears and snot fell down her face. "No one's ever put in this much effort for me before..." she went over to her boyfriend and trapped him in an embrace so tight even an epic majik like him couldn't break free, not that he wanted to. He stood up to return the favour, wrapping one of his lanky arms around her and using the other to wipe away the tears in her beaming face.

"Even when you're crying, your smile is so pretty." The words left Chro's mouth before he even had the chance to think. "Before you came into my life, every day felt like a monotonous cycle. You gave my life meaning, and that's something I will forever be grateful to you for." He planted a small peck on her lips as they continued to hold each other, the sounds of nature being the loudest thing in the forest.

"I love you so much, Minnie."

"I love you too, Chro."
