Soft steps on the grass echo as the angel walked, hands grasped together politely in front of her as she walked to the circus grounds.
She would smile softly as she peeped around, wings on her head fluttering with her movements, a soft angelic hum radiating from her halo.
Columbina.. That was her name, something she wasn't called out loud in a long time.. as she took a small breath to calm down, she noticed a certain green performer who was taking out a body, feeding it to some wolves.
The angel gasped softly, hiding behind a tree as she saw him whip around to check his surroundings. The angel immediately jumped out from behind the tree, hands up in defense.
"I-I bring no harm-!!" She said to the older one, watching how his face turned from guarded to shock, his tentacles dropping as he gasped, stepping back.
"No, No fucking way-!!" He yelled as he fell backwards, a hand going to his chest. Columbina smiled at him as she stepped closer slowly, her eye catching on a wedding ring.
Gold, with a star on it, a green emerald stamped in the middle.
Her eyes widened as she continued to step near, grabbing his hand gently and inspecting such jewelry.
"...Who is the lucky person? This is beautiful..!" She asked as she sat back on her knees, still smiling.
Harlequin seemed to still be shocked as he cleared his throat.
"Pierrot..How-? How are you here-?!?!!" He asked, sitting up as well.
Columbina would freeze, feeling the tension grow thick. "Ahh, I see.." her lips pressing together as she averted her gaze to the grass.. "I have been here for awhile now.. I have been watching, waiting..Yet, I guess my tiny break from doing so made me miss quite a bit."
Harlequin felt a pit in his stomach as he heard the woman giggle.. Just the same angel he knew years ago.
"Your costume, Its not just modernized, its new.." Harlequin said as he leaned closer as well, tracing the gold accents. "This? Oh! the fools that were murdered over the years, i took their costumes, sewing it in my image for myself!"
Harlequin would nod, looking at the wolves eating the remains of the body, mainly the parts that would make them sick, brains, certain organs..
A cool breeze went through the air as they sat there. "Still an animal lover i see.." Columbina said softly as she watched a pup.
Harlequin nodded before he perked, a sweet smell hitting his nose immediately. "Are you wearing perfume-?"
Columbinas eyes widened at this, leaning back a little. "Yes.. Its inspired by macaroons-!!" She tried to smile, wings shielding her face slightly.
"..." Harlequin was quiet as he sniffed her, feeling his mouth water. "The temptation.." He muttered as she went red, shoving him back, wings curling in protection. "Cease your actions.." She would mutter as she held her body in embarrassment.
"Apologies.." He would mutter, pulling back as well. "Its nice.. Pierrot has a lot of sweet ones.." Harlequin added as he looked down.
"How is he? I miss him dearly.." She smiled, wings going up as she looked at the poison one. "Ahh.. He's magnificent.. We have our ups and downs but.. God, He's kind, understanding, caring.. He listens." Harlequin smiled.
Columbina smiled as she listened to what he had to say, remembering all the ways Pierrot would treat her. "Although last month, I caught him.. Caught him cutting open his skin like it was paper.. I felt sick.."
Columbina just gasped, looking at the green one, hearing the tremble in his voice. "Oh my.. Is he okay now-? How are you handling it..?" She asked calmly, heart aching when Harlequin flinched softly at the touch.
"I've been fine.. So has he. with some therapy, he's been getting better." Harlequin said as he calmed his voice- More like masking the emotion, Columbina was a woman, not stupid..
"I'm truly sorry.. I really feel for both of you in this situation and you have my prayers towards healing." Columbina said as she wrapped and arm around Harlequin in an attempt at comfort.
Harlequin went silent, it wasn't that he didn't get touch or comfort, Pierrot provided a lot of that. It was her scent again..And goodness, he had to hold back..
"I appreciate it.." He muttered, feeling her wing on her head graze his face.. that was the last straw.. He opened his mouth softly, sharp teeth gleaming before he bit the wing.
She didn't seem to feel it, only freaking out when she tried to pull back and and audible tear of flesh was heard under the wings. "Harlequin- Harlequin let go-!!"
Her blood was even more delightful when it was warm, fresh.. She still freaked out as she tried to pry away from him. When finally was able to, the wing was gushing blood as some feathers fell out.
"Oh.. oh my.." Columbina muttered as she looked at her wing. "I-Its ok!! My wings don't have nerve endings!!" She tried to smile as she saw harlequins face contort to horror..
"Shit.. oh goodness..!" He gasped, holding his hand over his mouth, gagging softly. "Harlequin, I swear- it's ok!!" She kept trying to reassure him, holding her hands over his to try and comfort.
Harlequin shoved her away, backing away and standing. The poison ones breathing quickened as he stared down at her, the blood on her wing transferred to her face as she looked up at him in concern.
Tears flowed down his face unknowingly, running off to the woods, Columbina standing immediately. "Harlequin-? HARLEQUIN WAIT-!!"
She yelled, trying to run after him, falling due to her heels, quickly kicking them off as Harlequin continues to run away, leaving her view.
She finally had her wretched heels off, she ran after him, ignoring the pain in her wings.
"Harlequin!! Please, come back!! It's ok!!" She yelled out, her usually soft voice going rough at her sudden yelling. Something her and Pierrot had in common.
Columbina would start to panic, Harlequin was sneaky, he could be behind her and she wouldn't know.. She would close her eyes, trying to calm down the nerves or she will never make a sound mind decision.
Columbina sighed, jokes on the poison one, these woods weren't that big and she knew these grounds better then he did. She started by heading to the lake, Harlequin liked water, no doubt he would head there to calm down.
Well, she wasn't entirely wrong..
The Angel would gasp as she saw Harlequins body on the shore (?)
"No- Nono-!!" Columbina yelled, running out to him, dragging his body less out of the water, ignoring the water from his body soaking her clothing.
"Goodness, this really is my fault.. I should've pushed him away." She muttered, laying him on his back on a big rock, removing a few articles of his clothing.
Columbina stared at him before doing five initial rescue breathes before the chest compressions. Her time here in the woods while hiding away from the circus led to finding a lot of people trying to attempt and her saving them.
She would pull away once Harlequin started to stir, coughing up the water and looking at the grass with glassy eyes. Before looking up at her and gasping. "Uhh, ma'am, you're bleeding-!!" He would say as he pointed to her wings.
Columbina sighed in relief as her adrenaline weared off slightly, remembering the pain from her wing being ripped in half. "I'll come good.. How are you feeling, Harlequin?"
"How the fuck do you know my name-?!?!"
Columbina felt her heart stop for a good second, staring at the younger in disbelief. "Excuse me-?" She muttered, eyes widening in fear.
"Who even are you? I don't recall ever meeting you." Harlequin said, looking down at the flowers that grew by the lake. "I-I'm Columbina-!! Your sacrifice??" She tried to ring a bell for the green monster.
"Nahh, Never heard of you." He said, plucking the flower and picking off the petals. Columbina couldn't contain her emotion any longer, grabbing her wings and tugging while growling in displeasure before she remembered her wing being torn in half, whimpering as she let go.
"Are you like my wife or something?? i have no memory of you." Harlequin said apathetically, continuing to pluck flowers and their petals. "What-!! No!!" She gasped as she went red in embarrassment.
"Harlequin, Did you really lose your memory or are you playing dumb so I will give up and leave you to attempt again..?" Columbina asked with sadness in her voice.
That shut him up quickly. "I truly lost my memory but don't tempt me to try and be difficult." He replies, looking at her now. Columbina sighed again, the two going quiet. "Y-You don't even remember Pierrot..?" She asked, bigger wings wrapped around both their bodies.
"Who?? man these are crazy names." Harlequin laughed as he leaned into her touch slightly. Columbina felt lost, like she couldn't help him. Harlequin leaned over looking at his reflection in the lake.
"Who is this handsome fella?" He smirked, playing with the bells on his hat.
"Thats you obviously.. I'm prettier though." She teased, trying to lighten the mood. Columbina reached over and bapped his head, feeling his horns under the hat.
"..Hm-?" He felt the touch yet, he didn't remember his horns. "What are.." He mutters, removing his hat and looking back at his reflection in the lake, gasping softly. "Am.. Am I some monster-?" He asked.
Columbina didn't entirely know how to answer. "Well, species wise.. Yes- But, we both are.." She tried to explain, looking down at the grass. "..Did.. Did I cause your injury-?" He kept questioning, reaching for her wing, the way she flinched told him all he needed to know.
