Chapter 1: Prelude

Chapter Text

Hello, I'm serial designation J. Nice to meet you!

By orders given to me and all other squad leaders, I am required to give you a quick rundown of things before we set off.

So, let's start right at the beginning. The beginning in question being JCJenson in Spaaaaaace!

It is the company, organization, government, whatever you want to call it, that runs what is currently known as the new world. The new world consists of twelve planets of dense vegetation, giant bodies of water, and a large and rich list of animals and creatures, similar to earth. These planets are given the designation platinum 1 - 12. Now earth itself ripped itself apart long before JCJenson was established due to a multitude of things. Overpopulation, war, greed, famine, so on and so forth. The company was formed a few decades after humanity began space travel to different planets, starting with... Well, I don't know his name, so we'll just call him Jenson for now. This was around... The twenty seventh century.

Jenson formed the first AI since the old world, using it to create a large navigation device which led him to the first of the twelve planets. From there humanity began slowly rebuilding from the ground up, as three types of humanoid robots were made, being dubbed drones. You have worker drones who were designed to complete basic tasks like cleaning, scouting, and system maintenance. You also had assembly drones, who had small jetpacks attached to their hips and back, as well as a variety of minimalized industrial tools they could swap through using their wrists to build large structures and maintain things at a scale normal worker drone could not... And demolition drones, which had this heavy pipework and kinetic "batteries" inside their exoskeleton that allowed them to store and output kinetic energy. Mainly used to destroy unwanted structures and reshape the environment, but also really good for defense.

Everything was going fine for a few decades, and humanity even discovered platinum 2, however with alien planets come alien sickness. An outbreak occurred killing a significant portion of humanity, including Jenson. And since he didn't have any children or was married, a power vacuum arose. Multiple people were elected the new leader of JCJenson, multiple new JCJenson leaders were killed. It was... Definitely a time to be alive, I imagine! Eventually the company fell into the hands of the Elliot Family, being a big family that made big bucks by making worker drones with JCJensons permission. Now they had access to all three of the drone types, and there first order of business was sending out large landing pods containing dozens of worker drones to large planets containing valuable metals and recourses, with the mission to scout them out, bring back their large ore deposits and if lady luck be on their side, food, and wait to be sent out to repeat the process.

During this time, some landing pods wouldn't return with nearly as many workers as were sent out, and not just because of harsh environments and random alien creatures beyond comprehension. Some worker drones went rouge. They began creating their own worker drones and colonies, their own little civilizations, and their own societies. This was a problem for JCJenson and especially the Elliots who very much did NOT like the idea of rogue AI making entire cities on planets they couldn't reach, with knowledge of their existence and subjugation towards there robotic people.

That's where I and my family come in! We are disassembly drones. Our purpose is to act as JCJensons main military force, destroying rogue worker drone colonies, and alien threats. We have tools, weapons, and systems that engineers spent months designing and perfecting, specifically built to do just that. Soon after disassembly drones were sent out, platinum 3 was discovered. During this time, worker drones found some sort of... Eldritch device, is the best way to put it. JCJenson isn't sure on the exact details, but it gave them what's effectively superpowers, being able to magically control reality around them. We have dubbed this the Absolute Solver. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why its dubbed specifically the absolute solver, considering it doesn't really solve anything.

Anyways, this is what will be the next couple centuries of humanity. Worker drones spreading out like wildfire in a dry desert, with humanity slowly growing and powering up. The remaining 9 undiscovered planets would be found, worker drones would eventually make their own space travel and defenses, and multiple heirs, owners, and co-owners under the Elliot's name would be born, die of old age/sickness, be killed, so on and so forth. The absolute solver would continue to spread out, possessing more worker drones and becoming a new enemy to both worker drones and humanity.

Moving FAAAAAR into the future, during the thirtieth century (That's when I was made!), JCJenson is currently owned by a woman named Jessica Elliot, and her two siblings. Her younger sister Tessa, and her older brother Maxwell. I am a part of the 34th series of disassembly drones known as Series Aegis. And me and my squad consisting of my sister H, and my notsiblingbutprettymuchfamily G, are currently investigating a cult of worker drones worshipping the absolute solver...

A bald disassembly drone flew down, the sky tearing at where his bladelike wings start and stop, as he latches onto a large, dead tree. His puffy, black technician outfit being covered in the snow that is misplaced and fallen as he puts his full weight on the bark. He wipes himself off and readjusts his nametag that's placed just above his chest, where his neck starts. It reads in plain bold text SD-J.

"So, this is the place? Looks..." He looks up at the broken series of buildings and poorly made tents and firepits, nothing like what he was told would be awaiting him. "Looks a lot less intimidating than I thought."

"You're not looking hard enough." The light taps of a female disassembly drone's footsteps echo on the nearby ground. She has silver white hair, well-kept and put into a large braid that goes down to her back-waist. Her uniform which screams Napoleonic esc being coated in snow just like J's, but not as badly. Her nametag is just below the left side of her chest. It reads SD-J in the same bold text. "Most likely there is a cave system that contains the cultists. I would also place my bets on there being work of an actual solver drone."

"You think so? I haven't seen one in months!" J perks up. His hands are quickly retracted into his arms as two blades, as he jumps down from the tree and begins walking up to the buildings.

"I don't just think so, I'm expecting it. Honestly it would be weird to see a solver cult that demands a full squad to take out NOT having a solver drone or two... Speaking of which, have you seen G?" H walks with J, as they go up to one of the budlings, slowly peeping in as their voices die down to a whisper.

"No. I was hoping she would have been with you, but looks like she might of either went in, fell back, or is late." J crawls into the building, searching around the ruins for any signs of worker drone activity."

"G is never late. Saying G would be late is like saying W would turn down the opportunity to kill a worker drone colony." H side eyes J as she goes checks a different building.

"I mean I wouldn't go as far as comparing that to W... Maybe V... Eh?" J looks down at a rug that's suspiciously sagging down, as if it were sinking into the ground. He rips it away, revealing a hole with a ladder, and a worker drone."

"SHIT-" The worker drone is quickly silenced as J's left sword is shot through his neck, the right sword going through his head. "H! I found their hideout!"

She quickly comes jogging back, looking at the hole, and the worker. "Hmmm... You want to wait for G, or dive in? If they have defenses, it could mean bad news considering we won't be able to use explosives"

"I'm sure it will be fine given its the two of us... Though you should probably give her a call." J begins climbing down the ladder as his wings retract, as H goes to ring G up.

"Alright, this is a bit bigger than I thought..." J fiddles with his internal systems before his HUD lights up, making a large flashlight which allows him to see the full extent of the cave. It's a large unending tunnel that ends with a sturdy wooden gate, defended by multiple rows of metal spikes. A red banner bearing the absolute solver symbol is on a nearby wall, standing right next to another worker drone.

"Well, as least were eating good tonight..." J quickly dashes at the worker, gliding past the spikes and tearing into them before they can even so much as scream. As the worker gushes oil onto the floor, J looks up at the gate, inspecting it.

"... Hmmm... It's quite well tended to. No mold, no rust on the spikes... Might be a full scaled colony..."

"So, you really are for once in your life just... Late?" H chuckles on the call, as she goes to slowly climb down the ladder.

"Sorry! S-So sorry! I swear I will be there within three minutes maybe four. Y-You can go on ahead!" A faint female voice rings from the other end of the call, with the sound of tools shuffling in the background.

"Yes yes, whatever you say... J? Everything alright in here- Oh." H begins crawling in the cave, seeing J holding the second corpse.

"Yup, everything is swell! Caught a second kill!" J proudly presents the corpse.

H chuckles. "You sure did, buddy... What's with the gate?"

"Oh right. I uhh... I noticed it's a lot more well-kept then expected, there is POSSIBLY a full colony inside. So, I would be careful."

"Alright, let's wait for G then bullrush as a trio. Got it?" H takes out dual SMG's, poking J in the left shoulder with one. "And bring it out as well."

J lets out an ear-to-ear smile, as his full upper arm retracts. A thin, dark metal gauntlet folds itself out, having small blue lights and tiny sparks of electricity emanating from it.

"Lowest kill count owes the highest kill count a surprise favor~"
