Work Text:

“The Kings?” Chairman Go asked, hands clasped together between his knees as sat on the armchair.

Wuxian had stood up only moments ago, feeling weirdly restless after that whole ordeal at the association and was pacing before the other 4 men. Byung-Gyu was sitting on his couch, a frown on his face as his thoughts whirled.

Jinwoo was watching Wuxian pace, arms crossed as he sat in the other armchair with Hunter Woo standing by the wall with his hands clasped behind his back.

“I’ll admit, I don’t know much about them… yet.” Jinwoo finally replied, turning his gaze towards the Chairman who still didn’t look all that relieved. “I just know things are going to get more… unknown from here.”

Wuxian paused in his movements, a furrow taking over his brow before he turned towards the other 4 in the room. “Do you think they have something to do with me being brought to this time?” He asked, mind racing.

Byung-Gyu frowned, tilting his head. “But why? I mean no offense, but you’re not even from South Korea originally, so why would you be brought here instead of to China?”

The chairman sat up, his eyes sharp. “You said you were connected, yes?”

Both Jinwoo and Wuxian glanced towards each other at that, but nodded. “Yes, he didn’t know a word of Korean when I found him, but as you can see.” Jinwoo waved a hand to encircle Wuxian.

Byung-Gyu looked stunned. “You’ve only been here a few days?” He blurted, suddenly standing up to move around the coffee table.

Wincing, Wuxian said weakly. “Surprise.” He laughed, reaching up to rub the back of his neck awkwardly.

“It’s possible that their souls might be connected.” Hunter Woo said, pausing as the others all glanced over at him in shock. Jinwoo nodded slowly though, hands on his knees as he pushed to his feet.

“No, that makes sense, we’re connected on a level that’s… unbelievable. He can keep up with me where not even other S-Ranks can.” He replied, moving to stand beside Wuxian whose figure relaxed at the proximity.

They all noticed but didn’t say a word, they could see he was already feeling rather stressed and awkward.

A phone rang and Jinwoo pulled it out of his pocket, seeing that it was his mother, he picked it up. “Mom?” He asked, listening to what she was saying on the other end. A frown marred his face as he glanced towards Wuxian who tilted his head in question.

Whatever conversation he had, his frown deepened before hanging up with a simple, “I’ll be home soon.” Glancing towards the others in the room, he gave them a one shouldered shrug. “My mother needs assistance.”

Chairman Go nodded, pushing to his feet. “We can discuss this another time.” He said, turning to glance at Wuxian. “Are you alright, son?”

Wuxian blinked, startled at the address before he softened, nodding with a slight smile. “I’m alright, thank you.”

With that, they all parted for their own ways after Byung-Gyu gave them his number in case they needed his help again. He might not work in the Hunter field anymore, but he was still a healer.

Kaisel appeared, his form sliding into existence from the side of a building before settling on the ground before Jinwoo and Wuxian.

“Is everything alright, Jinwoo?” Wuxian asked after they climbed on, silvery eyes flicking from him to the horizon beyond them.

“Something’s going on-” He’s cut off as one of his shadows dies. “To Jinah, Kaisel. Now!”

Wrapping an arm around Wuxian’s waist, they speed through the air towards his sister's school. Wuxian’s form stiffens but senses go on high alert at the tension in the others voice.

They make quick work of the space between them and Jinwoo’s sister before they come upon the school. News crews and parents are outside, their fear and anxiousness heavy in the air.

Jinwoo and Wuxian both launch themself off the wyvern in sync, the window exploding inwards and stunning the orcs for a moment that were surrounding his sister and classmates.

Shimmering crimson talismans appeared in the air, shooting towards the kids and creating a barrier around them. The other kids that had been killed, their skin repaired and shocked breaths returned to them as Wuxian tossed an ebony flute up in the air.

Jinwoo’s daggers were out as he sliced through the orcs that made the mistake of lunging for him. Every student that was brought back had a solo barrier shimmer down around them as a massive array lit up below the school.

Everyone outside stared in shock, the camera crews cameras shuttering as their combined abilities lit up the entire neighborhood plus some.

Anything with a pulse that wasn’t human or a shadow was taken out - none spared.

With the fighting over in only a handful of minutes, the ensuing silence was startling before the kids started tearing up, relief on their faces as some crumpled to their knees in relief.

Jinah threw herself at her brother, crying into his chest at being safe after the dungeon outbreak.

Wuxian softened, smiling softly at the family moment before glancing around. The building they were in was a mess, papers scattered with desks tossed aside and broken.

Frowning, he moved through the room as his music softened into a soothing melody. Jinwoo’s wyvern was helping the kids down to the ground through the window, but Wuxian paused in the hallway outside.

Tilting his head, it was as though he were listening to something only he could hear. Jinwoo found him, moving to stand beside him and gazing at him with his head tilted slightly towards the other.

“What is it?” Jinwoo murmured, his icy violet eyes glancing around them as the shadows surrounding the school thickened imperceptibly.

“The dead are murmuring.” Wuxian replied softly, his hand reaching out to grasp Jinwoo’s. The taller’s gaze snapped back to him, a concerned look in his eyes.

“Like earlier?” He asked, motioning for his shadows to spread out.

Wuxian shook his head, soft, shimmering silver figures appearing before him and bowing. “What do you need?” He asked them, his mercurial gaze steady on them.

Whatever they murmured had Wuxian’s grip tightening on Jinwoo’s hand before turning to look up at him. “The gate isn’t a C-Rank, it’s going to be another Red Gate.”

Jinwoo froze, before a dangerous look crossed his face. “Good, I needed new shadows anyways.” He replied with a dark look in his eyes.

Wuxian searched his face before letting a wicked little smile slide across his face. “I’m with you.”

Jinwoo leaned in, pressing a kiss to the other’s lips before uttering against them. “Thank you.”

Notes:

So uh, I know some things are definitely going to be a bit wild - but if I can't make them overpowered in fanfics then what's the point? LMAO

I hope you enjoy nonetheless! ♥
