hell without you, coming with you

Summary:

“I don't wanna swim with the tremulous waves, I wanna stay here forever with your unwavering face”

His thoughts trembled just like him as he looked at his dear—lifeless.

(Will Byers is missing in S3)

During the rain scene, Will confessed his feelings for Mike—same thing for Mike. Afterwards, Will got missing. Mike constantly received many nightmares and echoing voices inside his head while the Police Depart. were finding Will into the woods again, without his family or the whole party. Everyone was focused on finding another gate into the Upside down to rescue Will.

It's either Mike would faint or fell asleep to see another nightmare that only consist with ‘weird’ symbolisms and not a direct way. Something about him made him connect with Will, not because he got a psychic abilities—perhaps he got something more powerful than that.

Later on, these voices inside his head aren't sign of craziness—but they're clues for finding his best friend.
(I don't have the gut to write all scenes of s3, my fingers will crack)

Notes:

I'm 14 yrs old author and English isn't my first language, so if you notice some grammatical errors—I'm sorry ’bout that ’cause I'm stupid and won't notice those errors unless someone pointed it out. This isn't my first time writing fanfics, but it's my first time publishing my fics :) I have a lot of ideas to work on, so may my laziness vanish away because it would be great for someone to read some of it.

I did not write this with ai. It would be a disgrace for me as a poet and artist myself to use that shit. I'm sorry if some of my paragraphs were too much for you, I'm just trying to be little poetic :)

P.S this fan fiction is written with past tense. If you hate it, I'm sorry to tell you that the thing you despise with have consumed this whole fic. I'd try to use present tense like other authors do without feeling weird... I promise.

Chapter Text

The rain is pouring already outside, each clouds were gathering for each other and releasing all its hatred and yearning for another. Each touch of wind were nothing but coldness and a freezing essence of one person. Others were holding hands and having fun, yet the other side were losing its sparks and fun.

‎It's thundering, each bangs from the heaven is equivalent to the pounding and worrying heart of Mike Wheeler inside his basement with Lucas and Will.

‎Lucas and Mike were taking a nap until a loud enchanting and magical music was suddenly played coming from a vintage cassette player—an action that came from Will.

‎They brushed their eyes and found Will standing in front of them wearing a long purple conical hat, long purple robe, and a long wooden staff that he was holding.

‎The idiots was found confused and wondering why in the middle of thundering heaven a sorcerer would suddenly stand in front of them and gaze into nothing above.

‎Lucas swiftly sat and frowned while looking at Will, “What are you doing?” he asked.

‎Mike grunted and agreed, “Yeah, Will”, he added “Can you turn down the music?” while covering his ears from the joyfull music.

‎Yet Will replied, “Please address me by my full name” he said confidently.

‎Mike’s eyebrows drowned and still confused, “What?” he asked while squinting his eyes at Will.

‎Will’s eyes quickly looked at Mike who was still lying on a couch with his eyes avoiding him, he loudly tapped his wooden staff on the floor and repeatedly yelled “My full name!”

‎Lucas was found still looking at Will, exhausted and just wanted to teleport at his house and take a nap already.

‎“Oh my God” Mike was trying to close his eyes through his hands, he just gave up and answered, “Okay, Will the Wise” but the tired Mike added, “Can you please turn down the music?”

‎“That is not music” Will softly responded, “That. . .” he shove his hand into the thin air and gazes at nothing, “is the sound of destiny!” he joyfully said.

‎The boys irritatingly grunted and took a deep breath from the sorcerer's show.

‎“I have seen into the future,” Will added, “and I've seen that today is a new day,” he mumbled “a day. . .”

‎Will paused and tenderly smiled, “Free of girls!”

‎They just closed their eyes as a sign of wanting to sleep. Lucas’s forehead suddenly gained a wrinkle and seriously asked, “What is happening right now?”

‎“Will,” Mike was already begging, “come on. . .”

‎But the confident sorcerer saw them as matterless and so he continued. He kneels down and looked at his well-defined paper crafted village on a table.

‎Will delicately brushed his hand again into the air, showing his work at the idiots.

‎“A tribe of villagers are under threat from an evil force from the swamps of Kuzatan—”

‎The vexed Mike interrupted, “Will, it's so early. . .”

‎“Is it?” Will slowly stood up and stared deeply at Mike, “Is it early, Michael?” where Mike's real name was addressed seriously.

‎The two idiots swiftly looked at each other and appeared to be irritated with Will's show, yet Will continued.

‎“Tell that to the villagers crying for your help,” Will deliberately walked towards near the boys, “the children are so frightened, they cannot sleep.”

‎“Are you truly going to let them perish?” Will looked at Mike deeply and enormously, “or are you going to come to their rescue and become the heroes you were always meant to be?”

‎Lucas suddenly raised his hand and asked respectively, “Can I at least take a shower first?”

‎But the sorcerer tapped his wooden staff onto the ground vociferously, whereas the boys flinched and sighed, “No!” Will disagreed.

‎He gave the heaven a glimpse, “It is not the time to refresh yourselves,” he turned back to his village who was crying for help already.

‎“Our people are crying for help and security yet you,” Will looked at Lucas, “A Ranger, have the time to take a bath?” he raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders.

‎Lucas brushed his face hardly, he turned his head away from Will, and he took a deep breath—unable to get out of the play.

‎He turned his head at Mike and pointed him with his wooden staff, “And you, have the time to rest when our people aren't experiencing any sort of rest?” then he clicked his tongue while shaking his head.

‎“You are a passive paladin, Michael”

‎Will turned off the cassette player, whereas they can now hear the loud banging from the heaven. He turned himself away from the boys, facing the window, and sighed, “I guess I need to do this all by myself. . .” he slowly said while staring at his shoulder hidingly.

Will kept asking Mike and Lucas if they're fine with playing D&D already, but all they did was to refuse and all he could do was to hold his massive annoyance at them for the past few hours. But this time, this is the right time. He can't hold his excitement anymore. He wants to taste the dip of happiness after the horror he have been through, even just for once.

Mike surprisingly noticed these repetitive questions of Will earlier at the Starcourt Mall, even though he was already stressing over his relationship with Jane. Not totally surprised for a person to noticed his best friend's vexation.

Mike shoved his blanket away from him and stood up, he sighed and looked at Will who wasn't looking at them.

“Alright” he said, “We will now participate, Will” he added with a bit of hardness on his tone, as if he was just forcing himself to participate for Will's happiness.

Lucas swiftly looked at Mike and raised his eyebrows, wondering if Mike was really being for real. Mike looked back and widened his eyes, forcing Lucas to play.

Lucas sighed and just agreed, “Yeah, Will. We will now play”

Will's eyes dilated when he heard these words from them, he can't help but to gave himself a duchenne smile widely—secretly. A light abruptly grew inside his heart, it eventually consumed him with hopefulness and happiness. An excitement that was knocking on his chest, waiting for enjoyment.

He was actually already expecting this response of them because he knew his friends would not let him play alone and lonely, but he quickly removed his expression and turned himself at them to show he was nonchalant about the response they gave.

“Great” Will answered.

He pulled down his chair and sat, as well as Mike and Lucas. Mike was in front of Will, while Lucas was beside the two. Will brought their books and gave theirs carefully. Will's book was facing at him while Mike and Lucas’s eyes were glaring at theirs, showing inactivity

Will pushed down the play button of the cassette player, whereas it covered the madness of heaven throughout the Hawkins and changed it into more loud terrorizing orchestral march.

“Do you guys hear that?” Will softly asked, “It sounds like... thunder” highlighting the word thunder aloud into them.

“But, no, wait” Will said while looking at them with no-nonsense, “That's not thunder” he added horrifyingly at Mike who's looking down at his book, tiringly

“It's...” He swiftly stood up from his chair, “A horde of juju zombies!” he quickly put down four minis at the table, showing a group of zombicide miniatures.

He sat down again, “Sir Mike, your action!” he said raspily and glared at Mike.

Mike sighed and looked at Lucas, “What should I do?” he asked, trying to show worriedness and anxiety towards his people.

Lucas looked at him and raised his eyebrows, “Attack?” then shrugged his shoulders.

Mike rolled his eyes from Lucas and turned himself at Will, “Okay, I attack with my flail” he said with dullness while holding a dice.

He threw the dice at the table, whereas Will looked and imitated the sound of rushing air, “You miss! ” Will gratingly said at Mike.

“You flail clanks the stone,” he quickly carried his dice, “the zombie horde lumbers towards you, and...” he rolled the dice in front of him rushingly.

He paused and turned his eyes at Mike again, “The juju bites your arm,” he said, “Flesh tears!” he added vociferously and grunted loudly, showing an intense pain from the bite of the terrifying zombie.

“Seven points of damage!”

Mike hold his arm slowly and looked at Lucas, “Oh, no, my arm” he grunted sarcastically, “Lucas, look, my arm” he added, whereas Lucas hid his face due to the embarrassment that Mike had caused from his sardonic actions.

Will frowned from what he just saw from Mike's actions, wondering if Mike was really into his campaign. What he felt from it was only disbelief, disappointment, and dissatisfaction from his actions. Something that Mike wasn't even used to do and barely to act sarcastically, perhaps the day that Mike only did this horrifying play in a campaign—a worse thing to do in Will's campaign.

The light from his heart suddenly got reduced and the massive enjoyment was slowly vanishing throughout his essence, but he ignored it. Will ignored it and still acted joyous

He instead turned himself at Lucas, trying to remove Mike's horrible action inside his mind—yet still disgusted

He sighed, ”Sir Lucas” he alarmingly said in front of him, whereas Lucas looked back at him, showing him with his raised eyebrows, and awkward bit of a smile from his face—as if he was trying to hold back his laugh from Mike.

“The zombie horde roars!” Will said raspily and harshly, “Do you fight back or do you run?” he softly asked towards him with his eyes observing him.

Lucas rested his eyebrows by squinting his eyes at Will and faintly raised his hand, trying to think about his move from the zombie—except he wasn't actually thinking.

“Hmm—”

Until a loud ringing and buzzing sound coming from the telephone came in that made Mike and Lucas synchronized by swiftly looking at the telephone.

Will quickly stood out of his chair, trying to stop the boys from picking up the phone.

“No!” he yelled, “It's a distraction!” then he tapped his wooden staff on the ground again vociferously.

“A trap!” Will swiftly looked at Mike, warning him “Do not answer it!” he raspily shouted at them while pointing his finger to the phone.

But the boys hastily looked at each other and just from the eye contact, they knew what they are gonna do—but don't know what do when a zombie will already attack them, what a fast response. Their heart started to race because they were still worrying and can't help themselves but to only think about Jane and Max.

They quickly put down their books and made Will froze beside them.

“What...” he faintly muttered, “No!”

Yet they ignored him, Mike ignored him. Mike rushingly picked up the telephone and put it beside his ear, expecting a gorgeous voice from his girl.

“El?”

Will sighed and knew the name that Mike was already going to say before he picked it up. There's nothing he can do to stop him, but to only noticed that he was actually worried about her. He found his place nowhere to be found inside his heart, for what he believes.

His heart was slowly sinking and the light was barely visible inside him. But he wants to keep going and turn the light back again, yet don't know how when no one are willing to join him.

“No” Mike suddenly added, whereas the light that filled with hopefulness started to consume Will's heart again.

“Sorry, not interested” Mike said boringly and appeared to be disappointed from what he just heard from the telephone.

Lucas sighed, “Telemarketers” he looked at Lucas, disappointingly.

Lucas looked back at him, “Maybe we should just call them” he replied at Mike.

Mike squinted his eyes, “We can do that?”

“I think so” he answered.

“Yeah” Mike responded, “but what would we say?”

Before Lucas even answered, the massive annoyance of the sorcerer made him tapped his wooden staff on the floor again scarcely.

“We'll say nothing!” he yelled at them and they looked at him, exhausted and irritated.

“The Khuisar tribe still needs your help!” Will added as he brushed his hand into the air, showing the village with the zombies attacking them already.

Yet they appeared to be passive again, their faces were expressionless as they looked at Will. They agreed to play, to participate—but sarcastically that made Will believed that he appeared to be a joke for them. He noticed these vexations towards him, but he ignored this for the sake of his jubilance in his campaign.

Mike sighed, dullness consumed his presence towards Will. They can't help themselves but to appeared more tired because of worriedness and love towards their love ones, as they ignored who they first to love—their childhood dramas. But they aren't kids anymore and that's what they believed.

“All right, then” Mike said towards Will, with the tone of hebetude, “I'll use my torch to set fire to the chambers, sacrificing ourselves”

Will wondered why Mike's talking at him as if it's a sarcastic answer, his chest began to pound. While his heart's trembling, there is Lucas agreeing and nodding.

“Killing the jujus, and saving the Khuisar. We all live on as heroes in the memories of the Kalamar” Mike finished.

Lucas raised his hand and Mike clapped it, “Victory” he said confidently while looking at Will who was already burning from hatred he was feeling inside his heart.

If they saw this as a joke, Will saw himself as the joke. If they were tired, Will grew exhausted from all the traumas he experienced, and yet the day where he would experience happiness again—the day where they would just ignored him. He gave up and lose.

Will sighed, “Okay, fine” as he put down his wooden staff beside him vigorously and took out his conical hat from his head.

“You guys win” he muttered and stopped the playing orchestral march in the cassette player.

“Congratulations” he raspily added at them and took off his purple robe.

Now the two boys finally gained consciousness as they realized their friend was getting mad at them already.

“Will, I was just messing around” Mike softly responded at Will. He rushingly walked near in front of Will, trying to calm him down and stop him from leaving.

“Hey, let's finish for real” he said, “How much longer is the campaign?” he swiftly asked as if there are things he needed to do.

“Just forget it, Mike” Will loudly answered straight up into Mike's face as he was quickly packing his things inside his bag.

“No” Mike gave Lucas a glimpse, looking for agreement, “You want to keep playing, right?”

“Y-yeah, totally” Lucas managed to agree, he began to worry at Will also.

“We'll just call the girls afterwards” Mike added and looked at Will who was nearly gonna finish packing.

“I said forget it, Mike, okay?” Will gratingly repeated at Mike's face, for his massive vexation consumed his presence already enough for him to leave the house of Wheeler's family.

“I'm going home”

“But...” Mike faintly muttered, “Come on, Will” as he gazes at him.

Lucas was in front of the stairs, “Move!” Will yelled at him, and forcefully pushed him just for him to stepped his feet on the stairs. Whereas Lucas shrugged his arms and sighed as he looked at Mike who rushingly followed Will into the garage.

The light inside Will's heart changed into exhaustion and loathe into his friends, but unfortunately for himself too. He realized that he was desperately throwing oneself at someone, someone who appeared to be not themselves anymore. His heart was already decaying and rotting from the pain he thought himself would get better soon through his companions help, but it didn't—yet he still refused to believe it didn't.

Outside were dark, as well as how dark his heart from decaying. The clouds were gathering to release their loneliness and despisement, that resulted into the great thundering sound of madness inside the heaven, whereas the pouring rain was equivalent to the hidden pain of Will. They cried for him for he believe he was weak for being different, for loving someone differently that made him think he was nothing, and someone that must not cry because he's different

November Rain by Guns N' Roses is playing.

Each flowers abruptly withered for their bees ignored them and seek for another. They would wait for them to come back, until each petals eventually gave up. There's nothing a flower can do but to accept the fact that's it's there to be pluck up by someone because they chose to, but not because they love to—a feeling that a flower expected them to do because they thought they would love them too, the same way they do.

Will's heart still racing while fixing his bag so that he can leave them quickly, as soon as possible. So that he can no longer witness the unbelievable and dull actions of the boys to him that made his heart slowly sinking, and just feel disgusted.

“Will, come on” Mike said as he followed Will into the garage, “You can't leave, it's raining”

His voice were gentle, as if it would do something to someone who's voice were echoing and stucked in his essence.

“Listen, I said I was sorry, all right?” he delicately added beside him.

“It's a cool campaign” he said while gazing at him, already pleasing, “It's really cool”

“We're just not in the mood right now” Mike suddenly added without a thought.

Will swiftly put his backpack on his back and turned himself at Mike, “Yeah, Mike. That's the problem” he raspily answered at him.

“You guys are never in the mood anymore, you're ruining our party—”

Mike's eyes widened from disbelief, “That's not true!”

“Really?” Will responded, maintaining the eye contact with his crestfallen eyebrows, “Where's Dustin right now?” he swiftly asked.

Mike suddenly looked away, thinking about Dustin’s location, whereas nowhere to be found inside his mind because he doesn't really know, and have no idea where his friend really is. Will noticed him immediately and quickly knew that Mike doesn't know about it as well.

“See?” Will shouted and shrugged his shoulders into the thin air, “You don't know and you don't even care!”

“And obviously he doesn't either and I don't blame him!” Will paused, processing his feelings for his chest was already pounding so hardly that it felt like it is burning inside him, even though the cold surrounds them.

He gulped, “You're destroying everything, and for what?” he faintly raised his arms.

“So you can swap spit with some stupid girl?”

Mike frowned and glared at Will, “El’s not stupid!”

Without any thought.

“It's not my fault you don't like girls!” Mike added vigorously towards Will who suddenly froze from what his friend have said to him.

A rusty arrow swiftly tear Will's whole being, including his heart who was forgiving. But would a friend, a childhood friend, would suddenly say that in front of his dear and easily just forgive him?

He will, sooner or later—he will.

These words made Will’s soul woke up, but at what cost? It is slowly shattering, breaking, and tearing apart. He was birthed with love, but he's not living with it anymore. His eyes dilated and each irises withered as the flowers were soaking wet from the pouring rain, they were giving up as the petals slowly falling, and he's losing its spark from the things he have always been fearing—being different, feeling different, acting different, and loving differently.

His breathing trembles as the thunder rumbles in each clouds he wished to see before waking up. Will regretted the things he have said, he now believes that he was the one who's stupid

Will looked away from him, gazing towards the dripping pain from the heaven onto the ground.

“Is that all, Mike?” he faintly asked, keeping his tremulous heart inside his ribs.

“Look” Mike gently hold his hand as he noticed it was shaking, “I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be a jerk, okay?” he can feel the coldness of Will's feelings through his hand.

His tone swiftly switched into the most delicate thing he can do to him, to calm each other's feelings.

“But we're not kids anymore” he added, “I mean, what did you think, really? That we were never gonna get girlfriends?”

Yet Will chuckled and pushed his hand forcefully away from him.

“Girlfriends? After telling me that I don't like girls” his lips trembled more, “the same way you do?”

Words that were racing through his throat, yet Will still managed to looked at him. His eyes were so red, forcing his tears to hold back from flowing through his pinkish cheeks. But can he managed to hold back his words that were caged for a very long time inside his shattered soul?

“No—”

“Do you...” Will's voice were trembling, “hate me that much that you want to change me for being different?”

“No, Will!”

The question swiftly strucked Mike's heart. He glimpsed at his eyes—and tears were already falling.

Mike quickly wrapped Will's body from his arms.

“I don't” he can feel the pounding chest and shaking hands of his friend, “T-that’s not what I meant...”

But Will pushed him again vigorously, whereas Lucas silently gasped standing at the door and gulped.

“Then what is it, Mike?” he raspily yelled at him whilst his chest were already tightening and Mike's presence is becoming blurry in front of him.

“You don't know...” Will faintly muttered as he was gazing at him, “You don't know what is like being different!” he raised his voice as the clouds rumbles.

Different. Mike suddenly remembered the time where he would protect his dear friend from the homophobic society that they were surrounded with. The time where he swiftly recognized Will's breathing through a walkie-talkie. The day that he built courage and finery by entering the mysterious woods just to find Will. The way he would keep his drawings inside his room and gazes at it for a very long time. The way he would stay beside him through ups and downs of each other's life. Are these not an act of being different or these were the things he believe was normal? He wondered too.

“Ever since you met her, you change completely into a different person that seems like I didn't meet at all!” Will paused as he sniffed and turned himself away from him while brushing his reddish nose.

“You're not even Mike at this point anymore” Will faintly muttered and swiftly rest his body on his bicycle.

You're not Mike anymore. It stucked as it strucked inside Mike's head. He's still Mike, but completely driven by the concept of loving another just to refuse oneself to believe that he was one and part of being different too.

Will rode his bicycle whilst his hands were shaking, chest were pounding, heart was racing, and vision was blurring. He can't help his tears to flow, whereas the heaven synchronized with each raindrop on the ground. He kept swallowing down a painful lump into his stomach.

The road was slick from the rain, and when Will tried to turn the corner, his tires slipped and he vigorously fell down of his bicycle.

Mike's eyes widened, “Will!”

Lucas gasped, they both rushingly ran towards Will—not minding the rain outside just to run towards their friend. Will raspily and loudly screamed from the pain as his left knee got some bruises and an intense splurting blood flowing in. The blood were mixing with the pouring tears from the sky.

Mike swiftly kneeled down at Will who was laying at the ground and feeling a massive pain. He gently carried his back, “Will, we will carry you. Okay?" he softly said at him.

“Let go” Will mumbled while his chest was panting already and getting soaked in the rain.

“No—”

“Let go!” Will suddenly pushed Mike's body away from him, whereas Lucas thankfully carried him.

Will slowly rose up from the ground, struggling. He looked at his bicycle and found its light flickering.

’Till Mike sighed and quickly stood up, “What's wrong with you?” he vociferously asked with himself frowning at Will.

“I don't know, Mike!” Will answered as he turned himself at him, “I don't know what's wrong with me, I don't know what's wrong with you, and I don't know what wrong with us!”

“You've been acting differently...” Will slowly walked towards him as he muttered, “that I barely can't even see my friend anymore...”

“I'm just worrying about my girlfriend, Will” Mike answered as they both intensely staring at each other.

Will faintly chuckled, “Worried about them while they were really doing good and having fun without their boyfriends?”

“What they need right now” he walked towards more at him, “is freedom and not some shitty overprotective boyfriend like you!” he pushed Mike through his point finger onto his chest and looked at them disgustingly.

He turned himself away from him again facing the woods, his eyes were burning from the pain he was feeling all throughout his body. At this point, he does not know whether he would speak up or keep his mouth shut. But this is Will, and Will's feeling need to be heard. He was craving bravery since then, he needs to devour it now even just for once as a sign of respect to himself—to his feelings.

“Will” Mike turned down his voice, “She's my girlfriend and I'm her boyfriend, I have the right to worry and protect her...”

“Protect?” Will asked in disbelief and faced Mike again, “You've been protecting her for so many years already, Michael! And yet this is the only time, the only time I saw her smile once again because she got the time to discover herself just because of Max!”

“And not you” Will gulped, “not you, Michael...”

But Mike saw her smile many times already whenever they were together, yet when he found her completely different—he began to question himself if he was actually witnessing the real Eleven when they were alone. He realized that she clothed herself with the ones that felt like her truly because of Max, things that he acted opposite towards Will and began to act as ignorant to him.

“If I were El” Will continued, “I would spend my days shopping with Max, lay in a grass, and pluck some flowers outside instead of wasting my saliva into my man's mouth” he gulped as each words were swiftly exiting his mouth.

Lucas eyes widened from what he just heard from Will.

“No!” Mike quickly disagreed, “You're not El so you don't know her more than I do!”

“Yeah, Mike, I'm not El

Will faintly answered as his breathing were racing and heart's trembling because he wasn't Eleven, someone that his friend can't love, someone that he will never receive love with. And that hurt him, it hurts him so bad that he can't hold back himself anymore.

“But just because I am not Eleven doesn't mean I have no place inside you anymore, Mike”

Place? When Will's was really his whole heart, essence, and reason for his existence. But this is Mike, he would of course ignore this.

“I-I don't understand”

Will faintly chuckled, “Of course you don't, Mike” he muttered, “And I don't think you will”

“You will spent your days with her more than us!”

“It's because I love her, Will!” Mike answered.

Love. Something that he can't achieve and receive to someone. Something that he would never get to someone that he love more than himself. An intense yearning for affection that he started to know it more than people could. He didn't got the chance to receive it, but it's always him who gives even though they don't need it.

He's always the Sun who gives light, but never the one to call as their universe.

“Are you that dense? So blinded by the thing you called love even though it's already possessiveness?” Will responded, “So dense by love that made you forget that we're here, that made you forget that I'm here?” he raspily said to him.

“So dense that I thought of you not the same anymore...” he faintly muttered that the words were already scratching over his throat, wanting to let go of this shattered soul.

Each words were slowly solving the puzzle inside Mike's mind, he can't ignore it anymore. It's making him question himself even more.

What are we? He wondered.

A feeling that might be more than calling him as companion, a feeling for her just to cause some distraction for the truth. He knew what he was doing but he doesn't know what he was clearly feeling.

Will might be just not a friend for him, but his whole. Yet he decided to ignore it for years just to refuse himself that he was different. But can he really ignore it right now? Where things felt more heavier than before? Where each heart can now feel the burden they were hiding for years?

Pain is inevitable, the same thing for love.

“Oh yes, Mike!” Will continued as he shrugged his arms into the broken air, “It is true that I don't like girls”

“But it's your fault...” he added, “It's your fault that I don't...”

Mike's heart started to trembles as the words were slowly getting into something inside his mind. It's becoming clear. It's getting clearer than before.

“What do you mean, Will?” he softly asked.

Will's tears were continually flowing down into his face as the rain were dropping onto their bodies. Their hands were both shaking, breathing were synchronizing. The thundering heaven was so loud, but they can still clearly hear their heart's beating.

Will gulped and avoided Mike's eyes, hesitating.

“It's not my fault...” Will mumbled that Mike didn't not hear it as the rain were loudly pouring and cloud's rumbling.

“I can't hear you, Will!” Mike shouted and rushingly walked forward to him, whereas their eyes met.

“It's not my fault, Mike!” Will vociferously yelled at him, so close at each other that they can hear the rhythm of their panting even more.

“It's not my fault that I have this... gross feelings towards you!” he continued, “It's not my fault that you do things differently when it comes to me!”

“Was it casual when you held my hand delicately? Was it casual when you stayed beside me in the lab?” he added, “Of course, all of these were casual for you because...”

“I-I'm your best friend” Will gazes at him, their irises bloom and Mike's pupils dilated, “and I know I will never receive love from you, the same way I give you”

“I'm crazy, Michael. So crazy that I became stupid and gross—”

“You're not gross, Will!” Mike responded and swiftly hugged him, so tight that they can hear each other's burden. They leaned into each other's shoulder, wailing in the midst of pouring rain.

“Please don't say that...”

It is now clear to both of them. Clearer than ever they have reached before. Their shattered soul finally found their half, it was beside them all along. They refused to believe they are for they see it as forbidden, but nothing's forbidden when it’s already in the written prophecy.

Will's in love with him and he's in love with him.

They can't ignore it anymore. Yet Will doesn't want to be a homewrecker, he would never ruin his friend's relationship—this day, is the only day he got the courage to speak about his feelings, and that's what it's only all about.

He would always end as his best friend, and he's willing to accept it, even if it cost his whole being and self-respect.

“I...” Mike muttered, “I love you, Will” that made him gripped his hands at his back even more, confessing and crying. Lucas eyes widened that made him brushed his face from the pouring rain.

“Take it back”

“No” Mike answered as his knees fell on the ground, “No!” gripping on his waist and wailing.

“I'm sorry, I can't—”

Will gently carried Mike's face, it's cold—felt like shivering. His eyes were teary sobered with his reddish cheeks, his lips were apart from each other, and his hair were completely soaked with rain water that it started to flow as straight onto his shoulders.

Both of them were soaked from the pain of their hearts and heaven.

Their eyes met, Mike saw his light again. Will's presence was getting blurry for his tears can't stop flowing, but feelings were never blurry for them.

“I don't wanna ruin my friend's relationship” his voice trembled, “so please take it back and don't go after me”

“No—”

“Please?”

His hands swiftly changed into being soft, it stopped gripping, and chose to let go. Will quickly sat on his bicycle and rode. He was left there still kneeling down, regretting the fact that it's too late.

Too late to feel Will's love even more, too late to spend his life with him eternally.

It's not that easy for him to break up with Eleven, it's his fault after all for ignoring his own actions towards Will that created tensions between them. But its too late to change everything and cling back to him.
