Distant echoes of voices drifted down the hallway--shouting and the slamming of lockers
"Are you going to make me look like a fool again?!"
"T-that wasn't my intention Jasper i didn't intend to ridiculize you I-i was just stating a fact"
"Jeez you can't even talk like a normal person can you?"
Jasper shoves peridot hard on the locker taking all of the air out of her lungs in a gasp--grabbing her by the collar and raising her fist landing her first punch straight into peridot's stomach making her vision go blurry for a few seconds--she raises her fist again--when someone shouted her name behind her
"Jasper, taking out your anger on other people again?"
Jasper released her grip on peridot--making her fall face first on the tiled floor--crooking her glasses with the fall
"You know damn well you aren't any better lapis"
"I know, but some of us learn from the past"
"Yeah sure, are you trying to play savior now? Does that make you feel any better" scoffed jasper
"I know what i did Jasper, you don't have to remind me" mumbled Lapis
"Yeah but that doesn't explain why you want to help that looser"
"Just go away Jasper"
"So what if i don't" said jasper while crossing her arms
"you are too much of a pussy to not do it"
With a quiet grumble and another scoff Jasper fled the scene knowing that arguing with lapis wont take her anywhere from past experiences with her--leaving just peridot and her alone now
"Get up"
"W-what?"
"Get. Up" lapis deadpaned
"Yeah okay-um-thanks...for helping--you must know i am very greatful for your assistance therefore i must stay at your vicinity and assist you in exchage for your much needed help"
"Huh?"
"You helped me, therefore i will help you now in return!"
"I don't need help with anything"
"Then i must wait until my assistance is needed!"
"Yeah...no you are not doing that"
"Are you questioning my dedication?"
"No, im just saying you don't need to do that--shit, i dont even know your name"
Peridot hummed in agreement before deciding that the best thing to do was--to introduce herself "my name is Peridot Greene, a pleasure to meet you" she said before taking Lapis’s hand and akwardly shaking it peridot's hands here sweaty and she shook Lapis’s hand like she was sealing a million dollar deal
When she let go lapis immediately whiped her hand on her jeans discreetly before heading to the cafeteria like she originally intended
"Wait im coming with you!!!" Peridot shouted exitedly
Lapis rolled her eyes not expecting her to follow her but as soon as she turned her back she was met with the eager blonde following her a few steps back--after a few sharp turns and taking the long path she expected not to find peridot behind her again but as expected there she was following her eagerly besides the fact that she was slightly bruised and limping probably because jasper dropped her just a few minutes ago
Lapis sits in her usual spot at the back of the cafeteria in the very last row opening her lunchbox to eat her lunch in peace, or so she thought before someone plopped right beside her--already preparing a snarky remark expecting the nerdy blonde she's suprised to find steven instead her face immediately softening to a warm and inviting smile--lapis is very fond of the young boy, lapis met steven when he was in freshman year lost and confused he stumbled right into a bitter lapis that he managed to brighten with his enthusiasm for the new school year
"Hey steven"
"Hi Bob!"Lapis giggles at the nickname it was created due to a misunderstanding and it just stuck with him
"so...how has school been treating you so far"
"Really good, but Im a bit tired--miss garnet made us run a lot today"
"Yeah that's kind of her thing"
"And what have you been doing lapis?"
"Well...there's now a weird girl following me arround, she's very short and talks like a textbook--she doesn't seem like a bad person she's just—"
"Intense?"
"Yeah that"
"I thought that she would leave after Jasper beated her up but she didn't and its just so-- UGH"
"Wait! Jasper again?"
"Yeah...Anyway who is this girl?! Who does she think she is?!"
"Do you know her name?"
"To be honest I don't remember very well, i think her last name was, Greene?"
"Oh Peridot!"
"Yeah that, is she...a good person?"
"Yeah she is, but some people think she's mean--she doesn't know how to say things kindly y'know--so that gets her in a lot of trouble sometimes"
"Yeah seems like it, she thinks she needs to repay me after I told jasper to go away but I don't want her help, I just saw jasper picking on someone and it reminded me of when me and her...forget it"
The conversation was cut short just in time because Peridot was back on lapis's side, holding two trays of food
"Hi lapis! I bought you lunch"
"I didn't ask for it..."
Peridot sits in the opposite side of the table and places her own tray infront of her, gently pushing the other one infront of lapis
"I figured that you might need some nutrition! Besides this is an act of my greatfulness towards you, i told you i will repay you"
"But you don't need to!"
"but i want to! That's what friends do after all"
"Friends?"
