Work Text:
Since 3:37am Bernard has been focused, very focused, like as focused as Tim used to be with case files.
He stared intensely at the tv his Nintendo was linked to, steady movements being made as he worked on customizing some food item. Little strokes of the brush as he shaded in some shadows on the dollop of whipped cream, he colored in lighter grays to give the resemblance of blending. He drew in some loose cherries on the side and did the same illusion of blended shadows, he also added a little white spot for where the light out hit.
And of course he added a shadow to the plate, why wouldn’t he? If there’s shadows everywhere else, he’s gonna add some to the plate. And then how could he leave out the toasted edges on the pie?
His hands were starting to hurt, he could feel some of the pain in his forearm. He shifted in his seat a little and straightened up his posture as he finished the area he was coloring. When he was done, shook his hand out and wiggled his fingers to loosen them up.
“You okay?” Tim asked, lounging on the seat next to Bernard.
“Mhm, just a little cramp.”
Tim hummed and looked over at the tv, softly smiling at his boyfriend’s creation. “It looks fantastic, Bee.”
Bernard smiled, his shoulders rising slightly along with it, “thanks!”
The blonde saved the creation, when the game asked what he was gonna call it he typed out: Red Robin’s Cherry Pie. The name got a laugh out of Tim, “seriously, love?”
Bernard nodded, “yeah! The cherries on the side are close enough to the color of your suit.”
Tim squinted at the TV, trying to see it. He let out another laugh when he saw the base color of the cherries, they were a little too light but it was, in fact, close enough. “Okay, okay, that’s fair.”
The next hour or so was spent with Tim watching Bernard play, the two of them judging the Miis sometimes and commentating.
Currently, two Miis designed after Bella Goth and Agnes Crumplebottom were talking about ‘mysterious disappearances.’ Bernard squinted at the screen, confusion riddling his features before he pinched the bridge of his nose, “I forgot I added that...”
Tim looked over to his boyfriend, face resting in his hand with a knowing smile spread across his face, “how long have you been playing today?”
“Since three-somthing this morning…”
Tim hummed, “it’s 4pm, Bee.”
“I know…”
“Maybe we should go take a nap?”
Bernard let out a small sound with a little nod. “‘Kay…give me a few minutes.”
‘A few minutes’ turned into ‘a few hours’, mostly since neither of them were watching the clock and got distracted by the Miis chaos.
When they did eventually go to bed, Bernard took an aspirin for his headache and drank some water. He changed into a pair of pajamas and curled under the heated blanket.
Tim settled in beside him, holding the other gently as they drifted off to sleep together.
