Work Text:

“So? What do you think?”

Jester asked, standing in front of you. Her eyes were half-lidded—like she was proud of herself.

She had teleported you to a new area she had created. It was noticeably different from the others she had made. It was brighter and less gloomy. The sun was settled in the sky as a ray of colors shined above. It was—

“Beautiful. This is amazing,” you said, staring at the colorful sky in awe. You never would've thought Jester could make something like this.

“Isn’t it? I just finished it, and I chose to show you first,” she replied with a grin.

Your eyebrows raised. As nice as this place was, Jester was not known to be the kindest. You were starting to suspect she brought you here for a reason—and not a good one.

“O-oh, really? I’m honored.” You flashed her a nervous grin. “So, uh—what’s this place for?”

“Well, I heard you talking about how you missed the sunsets,” she said, gesturing to the sky. “So, I made this.”

Your eyes widened in surprise. “Did you… did you make this for me?”

There was no way, right? The tyrant God creating a place this amazing for you? Yeah, right, only in your dreams.

“Ha. No.”

You figured.

“I did it for… practice,” she continued, her grin turning into something bashful if you focused too hard. “It took me several days to complete it, but it looks like my work paid off.”

“It did.” You gave a nod. “So, uh, does this place have a purpose or…?” The thought of something bad happening appeared in your mind again. Whatever it was, you hoped she would be quick.

“Of course it does. I wanted to walk with you,” she said, already treading through the grass.

You timidly followed behind her. Your arms swayed as you walked, heart wildly hammering in your chest. Jester moved with a sort of authority that you wouldn’t dare to challenge. You decided the best option was to be quiet and take in the scenery.

Both of you walked in silence for a few minutes until she finally spoke.

“So, what do you like about the place?”

You paused, looking at the sky. “…the colors. They’re so bright, yet so warm. They remind me of…”

“Home?” she cut in.

You barely even remembered what ‘home’ looked like. You’ve been here for so long, you’ve accepted this cursed place as your new home—but somehow, the word still fits.

You nodded. “Yeah… I think so.”

Jester turned back, a knowing grin on her face. “But this is better, right? Better than that miserable place you call home?”

You felt her eyes bore into you, sending a small shiver down your spine. Even though your life wasn’t always the best, you wouldn’t go as far to call it ‘miserable.’ However, it was now a distant memory. This is all you have to grasp on.

“I… yes. This is a very lovely area. I don’t think I’d ever want to leave.” Not like you could, anyway.

Jester’s face softened, satisfied with your answer. It was the exact answer she’d been waiting to hear. She created a world so perfect, that you wouldn’t want to leave—but of course, she wouldn’t admit to that.

“Good to know.”

Suddenly, she stopped near a tree and sat under it, patting the spot next to her.

“Sit.”

You obeyed, yet kept some distance from her. However, that proved futile as she wrapped an arm around you and pulled you closer, causing your head to fall on her shoulder. Your body tensed up before eventually relaxing.

“Loosen up. We’re friends here, aren’t we?” She gave your body a playful squeeze.

Your face flushed with embarrassment. You don’t recall her being so… touchy before, but for some odd reason, you didn’t have it in you to complain or pull away.

“Y-yeah! We’re friends.” Your words shook as you spoke. Friend, huh? That’s a weird way to say prisoner.

She stared at you blankly for a few seconds.

“You’re tense.”

Fuck.

“You’ve been tense the whole time,” she said, her smile long gone. “You think I haven’t noticed?”

You started sweating bullets the longer you stared into her hollow, glowing eyes. Anxiety riddled your body as you tried to pick the right words to say, your heart thumping wildly once again.

“I-I I’m nervous!” you blurted out.

“Why?”

“Because I-I… want to get c-closer to you, but I don’t know how!” you said, stumbling over your words.

Jester continued to stare blankly before her expression shifted to a thoughtful one.

“Hm,” she paused. “Closer, huh?” she repeated, her voice laced with doubt. She leaned forward, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards.

“Then come closer, little lamb.”

Without a second thought, you leaned forward and kissed her. Your body shook with fear, yet burned with excitement at the same time. Every bell in your mind was telling you to flee—but you didn’t listen. This was what you wanted.

Your trembling hand found hers and your fingers intertwined. It was a sad attempt at grounding yourself, but you did it anyway.

Jester froze, her eyes widening in rare surprise.

You pulled away from her, letting out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. The weight of what you did crashed down on you all at once.

You just kissed Jester.

Oh God. You kissed her.

Suddenly, a slow, eerie smile appeared on her face. Her eyes narrowed as she tilted her head—watching you like an interesting subject. She expected anything but that. If it were anybody else, she would’ve tortured them on the spot.

But you?

You were… different.

“Hm,” she hummed. The world felt oddly quiet.

Then, Jester pulled you into her lap, her long arms trapping you against her chest. Her face nuzzled into your neck, sending a chill down your spine. You took it as a good sign, though as she wasn’t currently burning you on a cross, at least.

“That was very bold of you,” she whispered, her breath warm against your neck.

“I’m so sorry—“

“Shh…” she muttered softly. “You wanted to be closer, right? Well, you convinced me. Here's your closure.” You could feel her grin as she spoke.

You let out a shaky sigh, closing your eyes as you finally relax into her touch. This was crazy—insane, even. This was the most frightening thing to ever happen to you, yet you felt so safe in your God's arms.

“Yeah,” she whispered, her arms pulling you tighter like a cage.

“I think I’ll keep you.”
