This is a crossover between characters from the Reckoner’s universes and characters from (an abridged version of) My Hero Academia. The Reckoner’s characters are dumped into the MHA universe and a lot of shenanigans and fights happen. Also characters from 7 other fandoms are here as well. Basically, I am throwing together characters like action figures to see what happens.
This is my first time writing anything longer than 500 words for fun, so I apologise in advance for my prose and terrible progression of story. It will get better as I write this. Hopefully.
Some important points that I need to clarify. This is not a My Hero Academia fanfic, this is a Joyride Entertainment’s Anime Abridged Cinematic Universe fanfic, which is exactly what it sounds like – a serious of fanfics on YouTube about different animes. Most of the characters are from MHA, but also characters from Pokémon, Dr Stone, Spy X Family, Full Metal Alchemist, Chainsaw Man and Dragon Ball are also there. However, they only play a minimal role, so aren’t tagged, because I don’t want to advertise as a Dr Stone fanfic, because all Dr Stone fans will be disappointed when the only mention is a random background character in a single chapter. But they’re here.
Also, stupidly enough, I started my fanfic at the END of the Reckoner’s and MHA Abridged stories, so I will recap some of the points of what happens before the start of my story, in these stories (so, SPOILER WARNING FROM HERE ON OUT), because these aren’t that well known fandoms (only the relevant stuff). You don’t have to read this, this is just in case you get confused – I will try to explain stuff as I go, so some chapters might have a lot of exposition.
The Murder Drones characters are integrated into the Reckoner’s lore, so the world of Murder Drones just doesn’t exist. The Murder Drone characters are just Epics in the Reckoner’s universes. So you don’t need to know the lore of Murder Drones! Also, I’m starting this story at the start of Slay the Princess and Internecion Cube chronologically, so you don’t need to know anything about those stories, because very little of it happens in this story.
1 or 2 scenes in this fanfic wouldn’t be unique and will be novelisations of things that happened in the videos, from a different perspective – these just provide some necessary introduction to what’s going on.
For the 3 total Internecion Cube fans on AO3, the lore of Internecion Cube I’m making up is partially inspired by the one theorised by the youtuber Tyromaniac (because the story was never finished, so there is no right answers).
There are different universes this fanfic takes place in (duh), so this is a quick guide to those different universes:
- M-1: My Hero Academia 1, the world in which My Hero Academia Abridged happens in
- M-2: My Hero Academia 2: the copy of M-1 Momo created, where Spy x Family Abridged happens in and where Momo rules over.
- R-1: Reckoners 1: the world where the majority of the Reckoner’s book series happens in
- R-2: Reckoners 2: the alternative world described in the third Reckoners book, very similar to R1
- S-1: Slay the Princess 1: the world where the Narrator from Slay the Princess is from
- C-1: Chainsaw Man 1: the world in which Chainsaw Man the Musical happens in.
The relevant Reckoners plot details for this story are (feel free to skip this):
The Reckoners is a YA novel series (there’s like 4 books) about evil superheroes causing a dystopia. No, its nothing like the Boys. Here, the superheroes – “Epics” – are not heroic at all, or even pretending to be, but rule over humanity as gods, over a destroyed landscape, because their empathy and humanity was taken away when they got powers, so they kill indiscriminately.
A high Epic is an Epic that is hard to kill normally (with bullets)
All Epics have a weakness, which can be literally anything (a metal, an alloy, a state of mind, Kool-Aid, sneezing, being shot by someone exactly 37) which turns off their power for a bit. It’s tied into what they fear.
This is because the guy giving these powers, Calamity, really hated humanity and this was spread to those he gave powers too.
Eventually our heroes, Epic killers named the Reckoners, hunted down and killed Calamity, destroying the darkness.
There is a second universe where Invocation, who was giving away power there, left after a few years, and so that’s how they figured out where the darkness came from.
The protagonist is David Charleston, he killed an Epic named Steelheart (he could manipulate the wind, shoot energy blasts, was very strong, was invincible, could turn things into steel) for killing his father, then was eventually given Steelheart’s powers by Calamity to corrupt him. In the second universe, his father was Steelheart, and wasn’t evil.
David’s girlfriend, Megan Tarash, is an Epic with reality manipulation powers – she brings things into other dimensions
David’s mentor, Jonathen Phaedrus, is an Epic who gives away his powers, yeah some can do that, they’re called Gifters, which are healing, force fields and disintegrating things. This is because he hates them and the corruption. His daughter Tavi has the same abilities in the alternative dimension.
Motivators are weapons mimicking Epic’s ability, and causes pain to the Epic if you use the Epic power they have while they’re alive (also happens if 2 Epics have the same power, happens in siblings)
I’m sorry if this is a lot, you don’t need to read this, but come on there were 3 novels that needed summarising.
Joyride Entertainment made a lot of Abridged Anime content (like around 100 videos), so obviously I’m not summarising all of it. This is just the relevant stuff. Again, feel free to skip this.
Basically every MHA character has a new personality and story arc
Tenya Iida was the UA traitor and worked with All For One (who isn’t just a pure evil villain, he is a lot more redeemable) and Shigaraki. Also he dated Momo.
All For One was a nicer guy. He gave his daughter Nana Shimura One For All, and she built up hero society. But she wasn’t a perfect hero (and committed some war crimes in Korea, leading to the creation of the Aerok Accords, which helped define Hero society) and eventually her apprentice All Might killed her, accidentally. This screwed up his psyche and is the reason All For One is the villain and out for All Might's blood.
Nana had 2 kids with Yuri Yaoyorozu (a communist war hero and also the secret police officer from Spy x Family) – Shigaraki and Momo. Also Yuri adopted another kid, Vasily. Yuri became Overhaul (a hero this time) and passed the quirk to Vasily.
Then they dumped their kids on Vasily, who grew up on the streets in Communist Russia, so was a terrible father figure. Shigaraki went crazy, killed his entire family including Momo, Vasily used Overhaul to re-build Momo from the corpses of their family.
Yuri tried to kill himself via Lady Nagant. Vasily kept him on life support, saw that this situation was screwed and tried to erase all quirks using Eri’s blood. Him and his hero agency was arrested. Momo kills Yuri (and becomes the new Overhaul).
Momo gets the Dragon Balls after that universe was destroyed by a genocidal maniac who was killed in a very convoluted tournament arc I’m not getting into here, and uses them to recreate a new universe far into the past to rule over a “Grand Liberator”. She also steals New Order from Shigaraki.
Detective Pikachu, who also lost his universe to the genocidal maniac, is trying to stop her.
Wow that sounds really dump when I write it out like that. Again, you don’t actually have to know any of this, because I will try to explain as I go on, but if you ever get confused refer back to here.
I know this sounds insane, but trust me that was the best MHA fanfic I’ve ever seen and I am very excited to do a fanfic of a fanfic of it. Genuinely go check it out.
