Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Mike is falling.

He’s falling. He’s going to die.

He doesn't really know why he did this. He could have saved Dustin another way. He didn't really regret what he did though.

Suddenly he hit the ground.

He didn't fall into any water or fall on rocks.

He’s alive. Well maybe alive. Everything around him was dark.

He's dead. He's in hell.

Mike Wheeler is in hell because-

Suddenly he heard some kind of growl. He's not dead. He's in the upside down. That growl was probably from a demogorgon. Mike began to run.

He's not dead.

He's in the upside down.

Will is in the upside down.

Suddenly he stopped. Mike looked around. Everything looked like Hawkins, but it was very dark.

Will was probably scared. He needed to find Will.

He had no idea where to start. He probably shouldn't call out Will’s name. That would be stupid. Mike decided to carefully and silently walk around until he found more familiar places. Maybe he could pretend this was like a D&D campaign. And he is trying to save Will while he's also split up from the party and terrified.

As he began to walk, he noticed there were a lot of vines. Something about them gave him a weird feeling. He decided not to touch them.

Soon he began to recognize more buildings. Then he found his house. Will probably wasn't hiding in here, but it was a good place to start. He opened the door as quietly as he could and walked inside. Mike checked the first floor, and the second floor. Will wasn't there. The next place to check was the basement. He went down as quietly as he could. The boy heard a strange noise, but decided to not pay much attention to it. “Will…?” He mumbled.

Then he saw it. There was a demogorgon. It was eating something. Hopefully not Will. Mike covered his mouth before he could scream. Fortunately, the demogorgon was turned away from him.

Mike quickly turned away. He ran as fast as he could, almost tripping multiple times.

After a little while he stopped to catch his breath. The boy looked up at the sky. It was dark and cloudy, but not in a normal rainy day kind of way. Mike looked around processing his new surroundings. He was close to Will’s house.

Maybe Will was hiding in there. He began to run again, which was a horrible idea because he tripped over a vine and fell on his ankle weirdly.

Great. Now Mike was limping, in a place that looked like hell, with weird creatures like were from a stupid (not stupid) game he liked to play, and the only other person here that he knew of was Will who was possibly dead.

After what felt like 5 hours Mike finally got to Will’s house. Mike entered the house. He checked every room except for Will’s (maybe because he was scared of what he would find). There was no sign of him. There were voices that sounded somewhat faraway, but Mike didn’t pay much attention to it, too focused on finding Will.

He finally decided to check Will’s room. He opened the door slowly and…

And there was no one there. Mike was disappointed but also slightly relieved of not finding Will dead or badly injured. He sat on Will’s bed trying to think of where to look next.

Then he heard footsteps.

Very loud footsteps.

Shit.
