Work Header

Movie of Choice AU

Summary:

Due to sudden lack of motivation (and my poor planning skills), I've decided to drop this project and just leave it as a single one-shot, rather than writing a one-shot for pretty much everyday of May for "Klance Trope Month."
I sincerely apologize to the one person who bookmarked this. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. But alas, I don't have the attention span for it.
I promise I love Klance just as much as the person reading this probably does, I'm still just very stupid.
Bye!

Work Text:

Keith ran a hand down his face, groaning in exasperation.

“I’m not doing that, Lance.“

Lance pouted. “C’mon, Keith. It’ll be fun!“

“For you maybe.“

Lance rolled his eyes and grabbed Keith’s wrist, dragging him out of the room. “Pidge won’t take “no” for an answer and I won’t either, mullet. Besides, we already have the costume you’re gonna wear.“

Keith cringed as he examined himself in the mirror. “Where did they even get this..?“ he muttered, lifting his arm and running a finger over the silky fabric of the sleeve.

“Keith!“ Lance called. “Come out, I wanna see!“

Keith sighed and reluctantly opened the door and stepped out.
Lance squealed in delight. “Yes! This is perfect, Keith! Let’s head to the set.”

Keith averted his eyes. Lance was looking far too good in his own outfit.

Lance grabbed his wrist again and took off down the hall. “They’re gonna be stoked, man! This is awesome!“

Keith resisted the urge to smile. “Remind me again why we’re even doing this in the first place?“

Lance turned his head and grinned. “We have a lot of free time, and we can’t just train all the time, can we?“

Keith rolled his eyes. “Thus roping me into cosplay?“

“Yup. Chillax, mullet. This is gonna be so funny. Plus, the effects are gonna look really cool, since Pidge has some advanced spacy-tech that’ll make it look like we were actually in the middle of the Pacific!“

“It’s the Atlantic, Lance.“

Lance turned his head to look back down the hallway, waving his hand dismissively. “Whatever. They both look the same anyway.”

Keith blew some hair out of his eyes and they arrived at their destination.

Lance swung the door open with a dramatic bow, and Keith shoved him with a chuckle.

Pidge smirked at them from where they were perched on the set. “Well hello there, lovebirds~! Ready for the shoot?“

Lance put his hands on his hips and grinned. “As ready as I’ll ever be.“

Hunk smiled widely. “Dude, your outfits look awesome!“

Keith looked down at his clothing. “Where did you even get these?“

Hunk shrugged. “No idea. Ask Coran.”

“Yeah, not gonna happen.“

Pidge suddenly appeared behind Lance, giving him a jumpscare. “Time’s wasting, guys. Let’s get to it.“

Keith raised an eyebrow at them. “We have plenty of time,“ He gestured at the tall structure in front of him. “I mean, we already made that… thing.“

Pidge rolled their eyes. “Let’s just get to it, man. I picked up this new game I’ve been wanting to try.“

Lance shrugged. “Like I said. Ready as I’ll ever be.“ He looked expectantly at Keith, whose shoulders dropped. “Fine. Let’s get this over with.“

“Scene one, take one, action!“

Keith mumbled something about this “not even being the first scene”, before the cameras started rolling.

Keith looked stoically out at the wall in the hanger where they were filming as he held his arms out and Lance held his waist.

They had set up fans to make the scene more “dramatic” and “majestic“ and judging by the tears on Hunk’s and Pidge’s faces, it was definitely working.

Keith sighed, trying not to focus on the way Lance was holding him by his waist. It helped that he found a little space goop stain on the wall to stare at, though. It helped take his mind off things.

“And, cut! That’s a wrap!“

Lance laughed and let go of Keith, making him feel equally relieved and disappointed.

Hunk sobbed dramatically. “That was beautiful, man!“

Pidge wiped their eyes under their glasses. “Peak cinema right there. Thank you for volunteering.“

Keith sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why the Titanic though?“

Lance grinned and wrapped an arm around Keith's shoulder. “Come on, mullet. It’s not that bad.“ He dropped his voice to a low whisper. “Besides, I think you were adorable.“

Keith scoffed and cringed, but he was blushing. “Shut it, McClain.”

Pidge clapped excitedly as they and Hunk rewatched the footage. “Man, I cannot wait to edit this!“

Lance smirked. “I thought you had a game to play?“

They glared before looking back at the video and smiling again. “C’mon, Hunk. You should help me with this.“

Hunk clapped them on the back. “Of course! Sounds like a blast.“

“Yeah, you two nerds have fun with that!“ Lance called as they walked out of the room.

“We will!“

Keith squirmed a bit. Lance’s arm was still wrapped around his shoulder.

Lance patted his cheek. “Wanna hang out after we change back?“

Keith’s face flushed and he extracted himself from Lance’s touch. “Fine.“

Lance laughed. “See you in a few then.“

Keith let himself smile once Lance left the room.

Even though that whole Titanic remake was stupid, he had to admit it was pretty fun.
