Work Text:
The host club has been setting up an event for the past 3 hours or so. There isn't much of a specific theme, as their budget is low and the ladies would probably be pleased either way. Kyoya and Haruhi helped with flyers while Hikaru and Kaoru decorated, leaving Mori and Honey to work on the suits. Tamaki monitored the rest of the club, making sure it looked perfect, probably daydreaming about Kyoya too.
Kyoya seemed... nervous. Haruhi was too busy to notice, but Kyoya was worried about whether the event would be too much. It's not something new, but Kyoya tends to get overwhelmed by crowds, and with 2 years of host club experience and even more years of family meetups and big parties, it's always been too much. Masking it is tiring, but he's never actually been visibly overwhelmed in public, so he isn't as afraid.
It's 5 pm, and the host club has finally set up its newest event! The weather is perfect, everyone's costumes are ready, probably the most prepared they've been in a while! The event has alot more people expected to come than usual. This isn't the first time they've hosted big events, so it should go perfectly fine. Kyoya sat down and sighed. Tamaki must've printed one too many flyers, making the quick task a full mission.
Tamaki sat next to Kyoya, around 10 minutes before opening. He looks Kyoya in the eyes before speaking, "Kyoya... You know to come to me if you need anything, Mon coeur?" Kyoya meets Tamaki's gaze, giving a small nod. "Tamaki, I'll be fine. I won't need any help, I promise..." Kyoya whispered to his lover. Tamaki smiled at him before kissing him on the cheek and patting his back. "Better keep that promise, idiot.." Kyoya giggles at Tamaki's words, ruffling his hair. Turning away from Kyoya to go unlock the doors.
Somehow, 10 minutes flew by, and the party had begun! Mori and Honey welcomed the ladies while Hikaru, Kaoru, and Haruhi kept them company. Tamaki was too busy impressing girls to check on Kyoya, but Kyoya had already gotten himself a table to tend. Everything has been going smoothly so far. As Kyoya talked to the ladies, the lights shone into his eyes, the lights that were perfectly fine before feeling irritating, and the ladies speaking infront of him became an unbearable noise.
Kyoya tried his best to ignore it, but it was eating him alive. Each table he had to appease felt somewhat annoying, and the smell of the room that he barely noticed before made him feel sick. The room was too hot, too loud, too bright, too overstimulating. He had to make up an excuse to leave, and it had to be now. He muttered an excuse before searching for Tamaki, the only person in the room who would understand the stress of the situation. He looked surprisingly composed, even with all the chaos in his mind. Tamaki looked over to see a very unusually sweaty Kyoya. Tamaki noticed the disoriented look in his eyes, having to make an excuse to pardon himself politely before striding his way to Kyoya.
"Kyoya..?" Tamaki asked as he reached Kyoya. "T-Tamaki.. can we go somewhere... quieter?" Kyoya mumbled, his voice shaky as he sniffled weakly, making sure only Tamaki could hear him. Tamaki immediately saw his distress. "Of course, I can just tell the others to cover for us, okay?" Tamaki said, Kyoya nodded shakily, and Tamaki led him off to the storage room, going back to the rest of the host club to ask. "Haruhi, if anybody asks where Kyoya and I are, just say we had to handle something, okay? We'll be in the storage room." Tamaki said, "Okay, Tamaki- oh." Tamaki had already disappeared to go back to Kyoya, speed walking to the storage room.
Kyoya was quietly sobbing by the time he came back, curled up in a ball near the old couch. Tamaki sat next to him, brushing the hair out of his face to see his teary eyes, and Tamaki had seen Kyoya do alot of things, but never cry. Kyoya hasn't cried infront of anybody that wasn't close family before, even then, this is the most exposed he's ever been to someone without judgement.
He was embarrassed to be seen so vulnerable infront of his boyfriend, and Tamaki was aware of it. Tamaki hugged him into his chest, letting him cry as Tamaki rubbed his back, allowing him to be raw infront of him. "I'm not annoyed, it's alright." Tamaki's words made Kyoya sob even harder, his body shaking against him. "Are you okay?" Tamaki asked, Kyoya shook his head slightly before cuddling deeper into his chest, craving closeness from someone who wouldn't judge his tears.
Tamaki gently patted Kyoya's back, gazing into his eyes lovingly. "Let it out, mon ange," he said softly. As Kyoya's tears slowly subsided, Tamaki whispered, "I love you..." The words lingered between them for a moment, leaving them to bask in the serenity of the embrace. Kyoya looked up at Tamaki, his eyes still glimmering wet with tears.
"I- sniffle Love you too, T-Tamaki..." Kyoya whispered back shakily. Hugging him tighter, Tamaki cradled his head and smiled softly, letting him unravel in his arms as Kyoya fell asleep in them. "Goodnight, Mon chéri." was likely going to fall asleep next to Kyoya, but Haruhi knew where they were and would surely remember them. The two of them were already tired, so a nap wouldn't hurt. Tamaki lifted Kyoya onto the slightly dusty couch, coughing a bit before cuddling up to him. He gave Kyoya's forehead a soft kiss before spooning with him and slowly drifting off to sleep.
After the event ended, Haruhi walked over to the storage room, opening the doors and seeing the two cuddled up on the couch. Haruhi wiped her eyes a bit, looking closer and confirming she wasn't seeing things. Haruhi walked over and gently shook Tamaki, "Tamaki, get up." She said, shaking him harder before he woke up. "Ah... sorry, Haruhi... I fell asleep.' Tamaki mumbled, moving to gently shake Kyoya.
"Yeah, I could tell you fell asleep cuddling all lovey-dovey.." She said, muttering the last part. Kyoya woke up, looking confused. "Tamaki..? Haruhi? What..." Tamaki gently shushed him. "It's okay, mon colombe, we'll get ready to leave in a second." He said, kissing his forehead before looking at Haruhi. "Haruhi, just go help the others clean. Kyoya and I will join shortly, okay?" Haruhi nodded before walking off to help clean with the others. Tamaki smiled at Kyoya, deciding to stay like this for just a little bit longer.
