Work Text:
Lomedy woke up reliving a nightmare he'd seen many times before. Before coming here, to Unstable, he'd joined many different servers, but each time he'd either messed something up or simply couldn't keep going due to his paranoia. But something compelled him to stay at Unstable... Perhaps if he died on this place, he could completely escape Amorphous.
He was scared, he was scared that he will ruin lives of the innocent people. He was scared that Amorphous will come after him, ruin everything. So after Lomedy started to live in Unstable, he tried to hide himself from the other people. Not because he was scared to die, not because he hated people but because he thought if he live far enough from the people, they wouldn't get hurt.
Although Lomedy had strayed somewhat from his purpose and way of thinking after staying there for a while, he still didn't form very close relationships with people. He was still mourning the people he had lost.
Until Flame come.
Lomedy helped Flame thinking they wouldn't see each other again, but then realized he got along well with the immortal demon. He knew that he shouldn't be doing this, he knew that he was putting Flame in danger but... For a second maybe he could try again. Try to protect his friends.
Lomedy wasn't a strong person, he never made for fights while Flame lived for fight. He knew Flame was strong enough to protect himself but the thing what was after Lomedy is... much more. Amorphous let him live, allowed him to survive, but at the same time ruined his life, let him live with trauma and paranoia.
It was hard for Lomedy to get used to all of this, all of this paranoia, but he tried. He tried not to let Flame know that something was wrong, but it had become even harder to hide it since the two of them started living together.
Having to cry silently after nightmares that reminded him of everything that had happened because Flame could wake up at any moment and see him in this state. Writing everything down in a notebook without getting caught to Flame. Flame had already noticed his best friend's actions, but he had no proof to question, so Lomedy was fine... Everything was fine...
Today was no different from what had happened before. Lomedy suddenly woke up from the same nightmare and was trembling uncontrollably, unable to tell if it was from the cold or the effect of the nightmare. Lomedy lay in bed for a moment, trying to calm himself. But instead of calming down, he noticed his heart beating faster, which only made him panic. He sat up in bed, pressing his hand to his chest and trying to take deep breaths, but his breaths were short and rapid. He needed to focus on calming down, but knowing it was easier than doing it; he couldn't calm down, and his inability to calm down only fueled his panic. Perhaps he had underestimated the impact of the nightmare.
His mind had literally gone into a state of complete panic; his body was on high alert, as if he had witnessed a crime. He wasn't even aware of when he started crying; he was crying silently, and his crying was causing his body to panic even more. The walls felt too confining; he had to get out, he couldn't breathe. The blanket he'd been using lay abandoned on the floor, and he got up to leave the room, hoping to at least calm down. His legs trembled as he forced himself to walk, but instead of taking a step, his legs gave way to collapse. Lomedy fell hard onto the cold floor, his crying and sobs intensifying. His breath trembled as his sobs grew louder he wanted to- no he tried to get quiet but he was in whole panic.
Lomedy could have held onto his bed and stood up if he tried, but at the moment he had no intention of getting up from the floor; or rather, he had the intention in his mind, but he couldn't move his body. He sit there crying and trying to take deep breaths, becoming even more panicked while there was footsteps outside.
Lomedy couldn't even look when his bedroom door suddenly opened; he already knew who it was.
"LOMEDY"
Flame suddenly went to Lomedy's side. When he heard a loud crashing sound, his first thought was that someone had broken into their house. But when he entered his farmer friend's room and saw him on the floor, he completely dismissed that thought. The bunny hybrid's mind was in a state of panic, solely at the thought of not being able to breathe. Flame didn't want to make too much contact with him while he was panicking; after all, a wrong move could make things worse.
"Lomedy- Lomedy- Calm down calm down you are okay"
Flame was speaking to calm the other, but he wasn't sure if he was only trying to calm Lomedy or himself as well. He carefully filtered his tone, trying not to frighten the other. Lomedy continued to cry, trying to say something like "Flame, I can't breathe," but he couldn't even get the words out properly.
"I know I know you will be fine it's okay, all you gotta do is breathe slowly, you will be fine I'm here with you"
Flame spoke to soothe his friend's panic, his tone and demeanor more cautious than usual. He didn't want to touch Lomedy without his consent, so he tried to calm him by talking to him.
"Here here try to follow me, trust me you will feel better after this."
Flame took a deep breath and exhaled after a while. He did it all slowly so Lomedy could easily follow along. Lomedy seemed to calm down a bit after copying his own movements for a while.
"Great great you are doing it"
Flame said. Neither Lomedy nor Flame had any idea how long they'd been like that, but it didn't matter; they had plenty of time to spend.
Lomedy was feeling better, but Flame wasn't going to leave him alone tonight. Even if he feels better than before.
"Good?"
Flame asked to Lomedy to make sure. The other was exhausted from everything that had happened and too weak to answer. He simply nodded silently in affirmation. When the tiger-demon hybrid understand this, he let out the breath he didn't even realize he was holding and reflexively raised his hand to stroke the other's head, but paused, waiting for permission. When Lomedy noticed and nodded affirmatively again, the other immediately ruffled his hair.
They didn't speak, there was no need. They stayed like that for a while, but since the rabbit hybrid looked and was sleepy, Flame picked up the abandoned blanket on the floor. He sat down next to Lomedy and put the blanket over them. Perhaps they would wake up with back and neck pain in the morning because of this, but those were problems for the future; right now, making the other one comfortable was more important.
Lomedy was already succumbing to sleep, resting his head on Flame's shoulder.
"Thank you Flame"
The brown-haired man mumbled it, he was very tired after what had happened, so it was normal for him to sound like that.
"You're welcome bro"
