Note from Jia:

Thank you so much for clicking on this work. Before we dive into the salt-sprayed waters of Eidothea, I just want to share a few quick things.

This story was born out of a massive binge of adventure isekai anime and webnovels. I fell so hard into the tropes, worldbuilding, and party dynamics that I just had to try my own hand at it. In fact, this is my very first fantasy fiction! I did a ton of research on naval terms, maritime lore, and magical systems to make the world feel as grounded as possible, all while channeling the spirit of the stories I love.

Originally, this was supposed to be a simple one-shot. But the characters refused to stay quiet, the world kept expanding, and… well, I just couldn’t stop writing. What started as a single scene turned into a 10-chapter journey. For a long time, I considered keeping this to myself. The logic and lore all made perfect sense in my head, but I wasn’t sure if it would translate clearly to readers. Ultimately, I decided to post it because I’m genuinely proud of what this became, and I wanted to share it with anyone who might enjoy the ride.

To help keep things clear across all ten chapters, I’ve included a quick terminology guide below. I’ve only listed terms that aren't heavily explained in-text or that rely on specific worldbuilding logic, so you won't have to scroll through definitions for things that are obvious from context. Feel free to use it as a reference, bookmark it, or skip it entirely and trust the story to guide you!

Thank you for giving this fic a chance. I hope you enjoy the journey with the Destiny and her crew. Fair winds and following seas!

Quick Terminology Reference:

Abyssal Pearls – Gull-egg sized, lunar-glowing gems gifted by Hwa. Primarily symbolize greeting, trust, and territorial acknowledgment rather than trade value.

Abyssal Quartz & Sun-Drop Crystals – Energy storage stones. Violet variants are used for healing/stove power; gold variants power navigation wards.

Aegis-Plating – Hull armor made of ironwood reinforced with Kinetic Amber shards. Creates a micro-gravitational field that pushes back against deep-sea pressure and kinetic impacts.

Aquatic Mana Cycles – Unpredictable, dense, humidity-heavy magical currents at sea. Requires adapted navigation and spellcasting techniques compared to land-based mana.

Heart-Intention Sensing – Seonghwa's innate ability to read the emotional/magical "vibe" of ships and crews. Allows him to distinguish hunters (iron/greed/blood) from allies (curiosity/warmth).

Heart-Scent – Hwa’s empathic/olfactory tracking ability. Reads emotional states, fears, dreams, and intentions through magical resonance in the water/air.

Kinetic Amber – Pulsating crystal that stores and repels kinetic energy. When woven into gravity-alloys, it nullifies water pressure and wave impact.

Lumen-Pulse – Yeosang's custom navigation array. Uses Sun-Drop crystal resonance to track Seonghwa's biological frequency through fog/silt, glowing when he's within a 5-mile radius.

Royal Hand of the Reach – Temporary title/mandate elevating the crew from independent S-rank adventurers to Crown-sanctioned strike-force commanders for the Reach operation.

Schooling Ledge – Detachable, leather-lined mahogany platform adjacent to the Water-Gate. Allows Hwa to rest above water while staying hydrated from bow-spray.

Shadow-Alchemist Healing Liquid – Wooyoung’s potent violet brew that knits flesh, neutralizes toxins, and accelerates cellular regeneration without burning.

Siren’s Veil – Slippery sea-moss that neutralizes song-toxins when steeped in tea or brewed into antitoxins.

Song-Toxins – Auditory/magical hazards emitted by certain sea creatures; can induce hallucinations, disorientation, or compel self-harm.

Spatial Wards / Signature Shrinkage – Runes used during the storm to reduce the ship’s vibrational footprint and avoid predatory detection in high-mana zones.

Star-Tear Sap – Viscous, sapphire-blue liquid and purest mana conductor. Coats masts and rigging to catch sea ley lines and draw ambient power from planetary rotation.

Thermal Vent Refuge – Boiling, toxic underwater vents where Seonghwa hid for decades after his father pushed him there to escape the Siren-Slaughter.

Under-Stars – Bioluminescent microorganisms that mirror celestial constellations. Used by sirens for navigation when the surface sky is obscured.
