"Uh oh" I know that look, you mean business" Phil said looking up Dan as he entered the living room, ipad in hand.
"Literally, I do." Dan said plopping down next to Phil of the sofa "We have to pick the final photos for the photo cards" by midnight.
"I thought we did that" Phil said
somewhat disinterestedly.
"We have to chose which ones to make the special holographic and clear ones and then to pick one to be the ultra rare platinum one than only one person will get." Dan said leaning up again Phil, knowing the only way to get him to agree to this was to annoy him to to the point of submission.
"I told you, the one should be the golden pig" Phil said.
"Over my dead body. Besides it should be a picture of us." Dan said.
"A picture of us with the golden pig?" Phil suggested.
"No more suggesting the pig." Dan pleaded.
"The pheal?" Phil asked. "Sorry... us with the pheal?"
"No, it has to be something cool that they've never seen before." Dan said as he started scrolling through the hundreds of photos the took at the photo booth.
"Phenis reveal?" Phil joked.
"I said something cool, nobody wants to see that" Dan responded.
"I do!" Phil giggled raising his eyebrows in a jokingly flirtatious manner.
"That's hardly a rarity for you." Dan replied.
"I like what I like!" Phil smirked.
"We already did the shirtless one that looked like we are caught in the middle of fucking. You sure we definitely want to include that by the way?" Dan asked with a laugh.
"Yeah, they'll love it." Phil replied.
"What about a picture of us kissing?" Dan asked.
"Oh wow. We could..." Phil said "They have been wondering if we might kiss in public, I guess we could just end that speculation."
"Put it in the hands of the fan who gets and see if they release it?" Dan asked.
Suddenly the same idea popped into both of their heads, turn to at each other, wide-eyed.
"Could we actually?" Dan asked.
"Would take the pressure off of us, just put it out into the universe and see if the world is ready to know?" Phil pondered.
"Is that too much pressure on one of the fans?" Dan asked.
"No, they'll be fine if we just explain. It's a good idea, I think. Do you trust me?" Phil asked.
"Okay" Dan said looking into Phil's eyes, searching as he always did for reassurance that he was safe, that no matter what, everything would be fine. "Yes, of course I do."
"Okay." Phil smiled, placing his hand on Dan's chin and pulling him in for a soft kiss. "Then it's decided."
Six weeks later.
Zoey's heart lept when she saw her package from the Dan and Phil Shop had arrived. She had mostly been trying to avoid spoilers on social media so she could be surprised as she opened her own cards.
Her hands shook with excitement as she tore open the paper. She had loved Dan and Phil since middle school and had stuck with them through all the ups and downs, Dan's mental heath struggles paralled her own and both Dan and Phil's coming out videos had helped her accept her own bisexuality and come out to her friends and family too. She owed them a lot for giving her courage and for the many hours of entertainment and comfort she got from enjoying their content. She loved them
more than they could ever know.
She opened the package and pulled out the first photo card. A picture of Phil wearing his rainbow windbreaker with his tongue blepped between his lips. Adorable, she thought.
Second photo card was of Sister Daniel and Father Phillip staring at each other intently. She laughed as she couldn't tell if they looked like they were about to fight or fuck.
Third photo card was of Dan and Phil holding Ben the rat as they grinned ear to ear. She certainly wouldn't be smiling holding a rodent, she might try to trade that one online.
Forth photo card was of Dan wearing a "Dan and Phil made me Gay" shirt and holding a pride flag between his teeth. This one was definitely for her, she thought.
Her heart flipped as pulled out the last card from the pack. Platinum. No, it couldn't be? Was this the ultra rare? There was supposed to be only one.
She lifted it up and saw a full paragraph typed on the back.
Dear Phan,
Congratulations! You're now in possession of the one and only platinum card. We want to thank you for supporting us and use this opportunity to let one of you in on a big secret. We've been trying to decide when and how to tell this secret and had decided to wait a bit for everyone to get used to us being in a relationship first. That's where you come in dear phan, if you want to show the world what's on the other side of this card, you have our full blessing but if you think we should wait a bit, we will
trust you and will get around to it eventually! In either case, please know we were the happiest we've ever been in this photo and we continue to be bursting with happiness every day thanks to our amazing fans. Thank you for helping to making our dreams come true. We love you all more than you could ever know. Love, Dan and Phil
Zoey turned over the card to see a photo of Dan and Phil staring lovingly into each others eyes, holding hands in front of a lit up sign that reads "Just Married. Dan and Phil. October 19, 2024. Las Vegas, Nevada".
Zoey's heart raced. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, Dan and Phil got married on their 15 year anniversary and somehow she was the only one of the phandom that knew?
She barely had to think about it to decide. She would cherish the card and the fact that out of all the fans in the world that she was the one they had told, but she also knew that for whatever reason they must not really be ready. So just as they had helped her decide for herself when to reveal her sexuality on her own terms, she was going to decide that they needed to do this on their own terms too.
She looked down at the picture again, it was so intimate. She'd seen years of clips of them staring at each other so fondly but it was never as bold and undeniable as this. Her heart felt full seeing these people who she had spent half of her life watching be so blissfully happy together and get their happy ending. She knew one day she could look foward to a 45 minute documentary about their Vegas elopment/marriage reveal and couldn't be more excited for that day but until then, the photo card would stay secretly hidden in her in jewelry box with her other precious gems.
