The Sting Of Betrayal - a sonnet

Summary:

have you ever been betrayed?

Work Text:

I trusted you, with arms wide open,
With words unspoken yet deeply woven.
A bond of gold, I thought unbreakable,
A promise shared, so unmistakable..

But trust is fragile, a glass so thin,
Shattered now by the lies within.
The sharpest blades aren't made of steel,
But of the truths you chose to conceal.

You smiled at me, with eyes so kind,
Yet behind my back, you'd undermined.
Each secret act, each whispered scheme,
Tore apart my quiet dream.

Betrayal isn't just a broken vow,
Its the weight of asking, "Why? How?"
The questions linger, sharp and cold,
As trust slips away, a story untold.

It feels like falling, but there's no ground,
A silent scream, no voice, no sound.
The heart grows heavy, the soul turns weak,
The world goes dim, the future bleak.

I see your face, I hear your name,
And feel the burn of guilt and shame.
Not yours, but mine, though it's unfair,
I wonder if I miss the snare.

Did I ignore the signs I should see?
Did I let you take the best of me?
These thoughts unravel, thread by thread,
A painful echo inside my head.

But betrayal, though cruel, has taught me this:
Not every touch is meant to kiss.
Not every hand that claims to hold
Will warm ur soul when nights are cold.

So I gather my shards, piece by piece,
Seeking my own quiet release.
Though trust is broken, I'll heal, I'll mend,
And find a strength that will not bend.

Your betrayal may sting, but I'll rise anew,
For I'll no longer place my faith in you.
