“Didn’t ask,” Eddie says, narrowing his eyes when he sees what Buck is doing. There’s a food board under his palms, flour and a roll of dough in his hands. “Uh—are you okay? Did I say something wrong?”
Buck’s fingers sink into the dough, squeezing so hard his fingers go paper white at the knuckles. “No, no! Just—I forgot I need to get the bread ready so I can bake it in time for dinner. It’s sourdough. Wouldn’t want that starter to go to waste after I spent months getting it ready when you said you wanted some homemade.”
Eddie raises an eyebrow, getting up from his chair and stiffly walking up to Buck. “Buck, is this because I mentioned Sam?”
OR: Eddie upsets Buck. Buck beats up some dough about it.
