Trail of Blood

Work Text:

It’s almost dizzying, in a way.

It’s almost dizzying how wholly and completely the players (chunguses, as Theo, or Flame, or Wemmbu would call them) put their trust in him. Complete, full trust not to harm them and to do the best for the server. As he finishes his speech, he can hear the crowd cheering for him and wonders Would you be cheering if you knew everything about me? If you knew how selfish I can be?

There’s no 100-percent answer to that question, but Parrot can take a guess.

The answer is no, because who in their right mind would support a king who is nothing but a leech, draining off of others’ resources and intertwining his problems with their life? He carries the curse of death, and he knows it, but he just can’t bear to face his problems alone, because he’s scared and selfish. So he becomes a friend of theirs, reliant on them, until one day he’s sapped away all of their lifeblood, all the problems that shouldn’t have been theirs catching up to them and they’re just another body on the floor. (Boomie) And in the end Parrot, the one who should’ve died, is the only one left standing, all alone, having transferred the burden of death, all the punishment, to another innocent person. (Spepticle)

It’s so ridiculous he could almost laugh.

Here he is, trying to save the server, when he can’t even save his friends. (Dean)

As he finishes his speech, he hears the roar of approval. Whatever he said, it must have worked. His mind is on autopilot as he bows to the crowd and exits, guilt weighing down his footsteps and leaving an ugly, ugly crimson trail behind him. (Luigi) A trail of blood. (Wifies)

And soon, he knows, there will be another body to bury.

Theo’s.
