Work Text:
The Blue Lock tour was long, traveling all around the country by bus to play in different games. Two a day, every day, for the past week. By the time they arrived at the hotel after their fourteenth game, all Rin wanted to do was collapse in bed and sleep for a week. Based on the fact that even Bachira was tired enough to be mellowed out, everyone else felt the same.
The team all funneled into the hotel, half asleep shuffling. They’d celebrate their victory after they got some much needed sleep.
Before they could head up, Anri stopped Rin, Bachira, and Isagi.
“There was a mix up with the rooms,” Anri said, her tone apologetic. “They didn’t book enough, but they managed to find a vacant room for the three of you. Although, they mentioned they do not know how many beds there are. I hope you can make do.”
Rin’s scowl deepened. What could possibly be the reason for this? And no guarantee on the amount of beds, what were they about to walk into? Far too tired for this, Rin snatched the room key from Anri’s hand and stalked off without a word, the other two trailing behind him.
The room was on the same floor as the rest of the team, but down a couple of hallways on the other side of the building. Rin scanned the room key and shoved open the door, heading in before freezing in his tracks when he saw the room layout.
There were six beds, three pressed up against each side of the room with a walkway in the middle, each bed separated by a side table. On the far end of the room, beneath the window, was a couch with a strapped handle attached to the cushion and a set of instructions on how to use that to turn the couch into a pullout bed.
“Is something wrong, Rin-chan?” Bachira asked through a yawn, lazily rubbing at his eyes.
Rin decided he was too tired to deal with this. He simply walked into the room, tossed his bag on one of the various available beds, and headed to claim one of the beds farthest from the door. Behind him he heard Bachira giggle as the beds came into his view. “We should have invited friends,” he joked. “Thrown a slumber party.”
“This is not quite the bed problem I was anticipating when Anri said there was an issue,” Isagi admitted.
Rin climbed into bed after changing into his sleep clothes. “I’m going to sleep,” he said bluntly, pulling the blankets over him. “Don’t turn the lights on.”
There was quiet after that with just the soft sounds of the other two getting ready for bed as well, sounds Rin refused to admit were as comforting as he found them.
The sounds wound down as Rin began drifting off, but he was cut off from sleep by the feeling of his mattress dipping down. He opened one eye to see Bachira climbing into bed with him.
“What are you doing?” Rin asked bluntly.
“Going to sleep,” Bachira said, missing or ignoring the subtext of the question.
Rin put the subtext into words. “What are you doing in this bed instead of one of the five other beds?”
“Those ones are lonely,” Bachira pouted. He burrowed down into the blankets and settled, clearly not planning on moving any time soon.
The other side of the bed dipped down now.
Rin looked over at Isagi. “You too?” He asked, exasperated.
“This room is cold,” Isagi said, half apologetic as he also nestled under the blankets.
Rin was left squished between them as they fell asleep. Isagi was latched onto him tightly, so close that Rin could feel the other's heartbeat against his own chest. Bachira was spread across the bed, an arm and two legs flung over Rin. Rin didn’t even know how he had gotten into that position, but he didn’t have time to think between Bachira’s snores.
Rin gave another deep sigh, looking over at the sea of fully empty beds. He shifted, one arm around Isagi to give him warmth and one around Bachira to make sure he didn’t fall off the bed, and then drifted off to sleep himself.
