Work Text:
Today was Autumns tenth birthday.
He had been waiting for this day since his ninth birthday, because today he received the best present one can receive from their parent,
Pancakes.
Autumn woke up at exactly seven and bounced into his parents room and woke them up eagerly, Ender didn't seem pleased but he faked it with a massive smile and wished Autumn a happy birthday.
Thomas almost cursed Autumn out, so he got to stay in bed.
Autumn drags his father to the kitchen, not even giving the man the chance to get ready as he tries to find pancake ingredients to help Ender get them done faster, though he struggled to reach the butter at the top of the fridge and dropped an egg on the ground.
Autumn gave up helping after a while, shrugging and walking off to watch TV, because today was his day, and he could force his parents to watch the news all day if he wanted.. or, atleast until the rest of his family came over.
Auntie Cynikka would give him something nice, probably expensive because he heard his dad complaining about how she gets given the most money out of everyone. Autumn didn't care too much about prices, too young for that, though he was excited to get something that might help him improve his fake news recordings.
Uncle Flux would give him something loud, that would annoy the rest of the house, last year he got a keyboard that he just key smashed, Thomas almost called off his engagement with Ender because of it, Autumn didn't touch the keyboard after that day.
Saparata would have the best gift, a plushie of some kind, Autumn would grin and hold it tight, declaring that every one sucked and Saparata had one the gift giving contest again.
He though about what Thomas might give him, maybe a cook book? He had been trying to get Autumn into baking recently, Autumn did enjoy it lots, he was just bad, so the cook book would be nice.
His dad.. his dad might get him new clothes or something, Autumn wanted new clothes actually, his old ones were scratchy and he threw a fit everything he pulled on a shirt, so that would be likely.
Grandpa might just give him money, his dad always took the money to take care of it whenever Grandpa handed it over, though Autumn never saw a dime of it after, so Grandpa would give it in secret, Autumn loved that, his secret money, he saved it all to buy new plushies with, his dad always wondered where it came from but Autumn never told.
By the time Autumn had thought about his gifts, Pancakes were ready, and he was bouncing away to go wake Thomas for Pancakes.
Autumn loved his birthday, he loved his gifts and cake, but he also loved spending time with his dad.
His dad was the best gift Autumn had ever gotten.
