Living in a boarding school means Gemini and Fourth end up doing almost everything together.
Late night homework at the same desk. Fighting over the dorm AC temperature every single night. Sharing earbuds during study hall. Falling asleep while pretending to revise for exams. The kind of closeness people notice before they do.
To everyone else, they are already attached at the hip. Gemini tries not to think too hard about it. About the way Fourth always steals his hoodies and leaves little folded paper stars on his desk. About how Fourth looks for him first in every crowded room. About how being around him feels dangerously close to wanting too much. He thinks he’s doing a pretty good job hiding it too. Then one night, while they’re lying in their dorm room with the lights off and rain hitting the windows, Fourth casually admits he likes someone. A girl from another class.
And Gemini still says, “You should tell her.” Because apparently, that’s what best friends are supposed to do.
