48 Hours.

48 hours until he goes.

Woody laid on the floor of Bonnie’s children’s shared bedroom, 2 girls and one boy, Woody had overheard some devastating news.
Andy was dying from the same condition as his father, something to do with his liver, Woody remembered Andy soaking his tears into his cloth body as his father lost his hair, day by day.
He remembered being in Andy’s hands when his father was found dead in his chair, he remembered his mothers face, stained with tears.
Andy had lost nearly everything he loved, except his toys. He made sure that he and the others would always be there whenever he needed them, whether on a shelf, or in the toy box, they’d be there waiting for him.
Woody continued laying there, his vest and badge gone from years of playtime, and patches visible on his right arm, stomach and even waist.
He was slightly dirty, Bonnie’s son loved playing outside, so he himself had to follow.
The three children played with his friends giggling and creating an adventure for the gang to go on.
Woody himself knew he’d have to wait until the kids left the room.
Bonnie’s toys were there as well, Bonnie ensured that she kept her toys, and Andy’s toys too. He remembered her being reluctant to pass him and his friends along.
She always patched him up, and she always ensured that he and his friends were repaired whenever the time came.
That’s when Bonnie’s children suddenly paused, and left. The neighbourhood kids were all running around outside, and they wanted to join them.

Woody sat up with a groan, Buzz cracked his back when he stood up, his joints stiff and rigid. Slinky didn’t dare move, his wooden joints would creak really loudly, and he’d only move if nobody was in the house.
“I wish they wouldn’t play so rough! I’ve almost lost all of my pieces!” Mr Potato head groaned, flipping his hat on his head. The old spud had lost one of his eyes, one of his ears, his moustache and he had a visible dent on the space where his hat went.
“Eh, be grateful they didn’t turn you into a unicorn.” Hamm spoke, Jessie walked over and snapped the horn off, leaving some glittery residue behind.
When Jessie was about to remove the scotch tape attached wings, “HEY! I like those… They make me feel pretty!” Hamm protested.
Rex rotated his head around, "WHERE'S MY TAIL?!” Rex yelled.
“In my back!” Mrs Potato head yelled, trying to remove it herself. She lost both of her eyes in recent years, and had lost her hat and arms.
“I’ve got it honey!” Mr Potato head spoke, removing the tail.
“Give it back!” Rex whined, Slinky moved his eyes attempting to look at the scene, and the aliens were too busy admiring their custom crayon made skirts.
“Honey!” Mrs Potato head spoke, “Where are you?!” Her husband stood in front of her, he plugged his own eye out and placed it in her eye hole.
“Oh,” she spoke relieved, “hey~”
Woody stood up, staring his friends down.
“Alright, I uh… have some news.”
“What news?!” Rex asked, slightly nervous, clutching his tail.
“They left me in the living room and… it’s Andy’s father all over again.”
Buzz looked confused, and so did Mrs Potato head, Bullseye and Jessie. Meanwhile Hamm, Mr Potato Head, Rex and Slinky all looked momentarily horrified, then saddened.
“Is he okay?!” Rex asked, his anxiety hitting him like a bullet train.
“No Rex! He’s dying you doofus!” Mr Potato Head yelled out agitated.
The toys all let out a collective gasp, some in horror, and others in shock.
“Andy’s.. what?..” Jessie asked, clearly emotional .
“Potato heads right.. Listen, we've only got 48 hours..”
“48 hours till what?” Buzz asked, confused.
“Until he passes on…” Woody looked down visibly upset, he gulped slightly, and choked back a slight sob.
Buzz approached and put a protective arm around Woody.
“Then we better be there for him..” Buzz said, trying to comfort his friend.
Slinky finally turned his head with a loud creak, his face one of shock and grief.
“Slink? You look like someone’s died?” Hamm asked with slight confusion and sarcasm.
“When a toy becomes very close to its owner, and its owner loves that toy with all of his heart,” slinky explained, “then their souls become intertwined, when they die, the toy does too…” Woody looked at Slinky, and Buzz did too.
“And that toy is you Woody..” Slinky spoke trying to hold back his own sadness, Mr Potato head looked gobsmacked, and Hamm did too, Rex instantly burst into tears, rushing and then rattling Woody.
“NO! WOODY YOU CANT! WE LOVE YOU!” Rex yelled out, Buzz had to intervene and push the two apart.
“Rex, listen, Slinky might not be right about this. I’m pretty sure Woody will be alright.”
Buzz wrapped an arm around Rex, his yellowed plastic creaking slightly, “I promise you that.”
Woody’s legs quivered.
“Slink is right…”
Woody hung his head down.
Buzz looked at Woody confused.
“I’ve been getting weaker day by day, my limbs have been seizing on their own… I am dying…”
The toys looked at each other, and then back at Woody.
“Listen, I’ve got a plan!” Woody spoke, the toys huddled close to him as he explained his idea.
Just like when they had broken out of Sunnyside, which was their first destination.
Bonnie’s toys walked over, and Dolly looked at Woody, “will you be coming back home? Her son adores you, I’m sure he’ll notice.”
“I’ll be fine, dolly, I swear.”
“Rex, are you going?” Trixie asked.
“I’m gonna be there.. for Andy,” Rex spoke, “and for my friends…”
Bonnie’s toys saluted Andy’s as they turned and exited through the window, one by one they climbed out and avoided detection.
“Honey,” Mrs Potato head said, “Yeah? What is it?” Mr Potato head asked.
The toys were hiding behind a large bush and near the sandpit, Mrs Potato head rotated her body towards the sand.
“My eyes are in there.” She spoke, “please honey, I want to see Andy one last time..”
Her husband nodded and rushed towards the pit, he dug like mad with his hands, he even found his other ear, and his other eye, and then his wife’s left arm, and then her eyes.
He grabbed the arm and eyes, and he rushed towards her.
After regaining her vision the toys set off, plastic feet hitting the sidewalk.
“Does anyone remember where Sunnyside is?” Buzz asked, “we’re miles away.” Hamm responded with, “it’d take 4 hours to get there, and we can’t go on foot!”
Woody instantly tried to think, he rattled his vinyl noggin trying to think, that’s when he whistled.
“Oh.. I forgot Buster isn’t here…” Woody spoke, the toys knew they were wasting valuable time, however Mr Potato head pointed to a nearby car.
“Bonnie’s anyone?!” He spoke, pointing to Bonnie’s car.
The toys instantly raced towards the car, Slinky sprung up, and using the back peg of Potato heads eye, they unlocked the car door; they all rushed inside.
“Vegetable man and porky, take the peddles!” Buzz commanded, “I’ll take the wheel!”
Mr Potato head and Hamm leaped down towards the peddles, preparing for the next order.
“Spring weiner take the rod of power!” Slinky hit the driver's stick, gripping his paws around it.
“Blast! We don’t have the keys!” Buzz realised, however Woody, pulled the key from his holster.
Rex and Jessie sat on the hood, “START IT NOW!” Rex yelled out panicked.
The toys jump started the car, they were going to make it to Andy.
