Chapter Text
“Oooh! George,” Lucy grabs them both by the sleeve with either hand. “Lockwood, look!” She lets go of George to point at a food truck.
It gives out light and laughter as most other shops around are closed at this time, a customer chats happily with another whilst waiting for their food.
“Lucy, I get that you're hungry and all, we are too, but we don't have any American money on us.” George states apologetically, pushing up his glasses on his nose. “Unless you count the quarter Lockwood picked up off the ground earlier.” He adds.
“We could still try?” Lockwood suggests, turning his head from the truck to Lucy. “I mean, I don't quite know what they'd do with Pounds but maybe, just maybe, if we look desperate enough they'll take it?”
Lucy flashes a grin. Then, not even a moment later, it's gone as she speaks, “Wait.” They wait. “Do we even have any of our money on us?”
...
“I do; I checked my pockets when we got here, and I felt my wallet.” Says Lockwood.
Lucy's grin returns even broader this time. “Oh, I could just kiss you right now!” She exclaims, tugging his arm.
Lockwood stands frozen, mouth agape for a moment. “I don't see why you can't?” He squeaks. Completely enamored, as he always is, with her.
“Give me your wallet, and I can try to bargain with the owner while you two makeout.” George says.
“I think it's best if I go.” Lockwood snaps out of his Lucy induced daze. “I have more charm, and you'll probably end up insulting them.” Before George can do anything more than scoff, Lockwood's already pried his arm away from Lucy's grasp and is walking off towards the truck.
“Oh!” He stops. “And make sure to give Lucy a kiss for me!” He yells with a nice smile, a tad louder than he should've really, from a couple feet away.
Heads turn towards them all at Lockwood's yell and George blushes as Lucy smiles, giving him a wave.
“Well?” She asks. And how could George ever deny her?
