Chapter Text
Homelander was on an walk deep in the woods for once, trying to clear his mind after Stillwell tried to cnoerce him to do what she wanted for the umpteenth time, deeply annoyed, but not willing to confront her due to how she filled that void in his mind like she did, for now, but now he was just taking a breather, as usually he'd fly to clear his mind, but the sights from above started to become boring and dull, so maybe a change of scenery might do. As he was walking the woods, trying to just forget about his frustrations and be the 'god' person he was; he noticed someone else was in the woods with him from the sound of dirt being moved and rustling of something, though it seems whoever it was wasn't there to spy on him, but was there nonetheless. As Homelander crept closer to see who was here to disrupt his peaceful walk, only to discover it was William. Why was he here? Homelander thought, seeing Butcher just sitting there, an unusual sorrow in the usually brash and spiteful British man's eyes, seemingly lost in thought as he was staring at something, though jumped once he felt someone's gaze on him, looking around nervously for a moment before leaving, confusing Homelander even more while he doubted William had even saw him from how quick and jumpy he was looking around, almost like a rabbit being stalked and frightened by a wolf, unusual for the man, but just made Homelander all the more curious, walking over to where William had been, being even more confused by the only thing there being a red sage, freshly planted in the dirt as if it had meaning, though for now just looked out of place in the deep forest. Even more weird was that there was another sage on the ground, still unplanted unlike the other, though this once was a blue one, or blue salvia as he's heard some call it from the conversations he's heard in his lifetime of sights and sorrows, having to pretend during events when Vought was trying to cover for him, like the Flight 37 crash.
He felt an strange sense of dread being around the misplaced plants, but shook his head from those thoughts as the god shouldn't feel such pity for his nemesis, though couldn't help but feel a bit confused about everything, deciding to finish planting the flower for the Brit since it felt like an minor eyesore with a random hole in the ground and a flower just set aside like a destroyed garden, though also found the flowers fascinating, not wanted to damage the plants as even for an 'interesting' person like him, Homelander couldn't help admiring something different to him, wondering Why were you digging? What did you bury? to himself as he realized under the flower already planted looked like there was more then the dirt, but Homelander didn't wish to disturb it as his care for once outweighed his curiosity and need to have what he wanted, as he felt a weird sense of pity, as if he already knew this might be something he hadn't felt himself,....loss. Though for now both sages were planted, Homelander hoping to possibly stumble upon William once more to mess with him till he told what the hell the flowers were for, but for now it was late at night and Homelander felt exhausted, now that the anger in him had drained away, just heading back to Vought tower, flying back up to his apartment as he didn't want to talk to anyone right now, too lost in his thoughts to want to see anyone else's face, falling asleep with many thoughts on his mind, many he never would've thought of till tonight with who made him think like this, and why this mud-person was strange like this all of the sudden unlike the normal William he knew.
