The last time Bucky visited her, he'd talked to her alone. She hadn't wanted Steve to catch tuberculosis off her.
She made him promise her that he'd be okay.
Promise to take care of Steve, like he'd always sworn himself he would.
Promise to help him, keep him safe. To remind him he was loved.
Sarah had been a smart woman. And with a gentle, loving look, she'd said:
"And do something about those flowers, now, will you?"
Choking up, he'd promised that, too.
“The thing is, you don’t have to. I’m with you til the end of the line.”
