Author’s Note
This section contains little snapshots from their lives — conversations, domestic disasters, family teasing, intelligent children asking dangerous questions, exhausted adults pretending they know what they’re doing, and the peculiar everyday rhythm of highly observant people living under one roof.
Not every meaningful moment is dramatic. Sometimes it’s Sherlock treating an ant bite with excessive seriousness. Sometimes it’s Shruti banning gruesome case files from the sitting room. Sometimes it’s a child saying something so absurdly clever both parents go silent for six full seconds.
These scenes drift through different years and moods at Shanti House: sleepless newborn nights, teasing conversations, family lunches, overprotective parenting, and rarely quiet recoveries.
They are glimpses into the Roy-Holmes family across the years — affectionate chaos, sharp humour, recovery, parenting, overthinking, growing older, and the tenderheartedness that forms when brilliant people become a family.
